1 New Graduate Scholarship Opportunity for Stockton s MSN Students A Different Kind of Nursing Career Consider Teaching Stockton's MSN program is participating in a collaborative with other state colleges to provide preparation for a nursing faculty role. The New Jersey Nursing Initiative Faculty Preparation program is funded by a grant from the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation and provides Stockton MSN applicants with an exciting scholarship opportunity. The New Jersey Nursing Scholars Program will only be accepting a small number of eligible candidates for two cohort classes, the first one beginning September, 2009 and the second beginning September The scholarship includes full tuition and fees for the entire MSN program, plus an annual stipend of $50,000/year for two years. As a Robert Wood Johnson Foundation (RWJF) New Jersey Nursing Scholar, you will prepare for a rewarding career teaching the next generation of nurses in the state. Support is available as you earn a master of science degree is a clinical specialty, with additional preparation in education. If you are selected for this program, you will receive a scholarship covering tuition and fees, and a $50,000 per year stipend to cover living expenses for the two years you spend as a full-time student. Each scholar will also receive a laptop computer. New Jersey Scholars must: 1.) Enroll and matriculate in a full-time progression of courses in an advanced clinical program each semester. 2.) Maintain a GPA of 3.0 (B grade). 3.) Participate in curriculum acculturation/socialization activities planned by the New Jersey Nursing Education Collaborative and with your assigned faculty member. 4.) Participate in evaluation activities. 5.) Upon graduation, make a three-year commitment to serve as a full-time faculty member in a New Jersey based pre-licensure nursing program. To Be Eligible, You Must: 1.) Meet admission requirements, be accepted and enroll as a full-time student in the advanced clinical program at one of the following programs: Kean University- Community Nursing The College of New Jersey- Adult nurse practitioner, clinical nurse leader The Richard Stockton College- Adult nurse practitioner William Patterson University of New Jersey- Adult nurse practitioner, family nurse practitioner (2010) 2.) Be a United States citizen or permanent resident. 3.) Submit the RWJF New Jersey Nursing Scholar application, along with a two-page, double spaced essay, by May 1, 2010 Begin Your Studies: Two cohorts of New Jersey Nursing Scholars will be accepted. The first will study from fall 2009 to spring 2011, and the second from fall 2010 to spring 2012.

3 New Jersey Nursing Initiative Faculty Preparation Program: Becoming a Robert Wood Johnson Foundation (RWJF) New Jersey Nursing Scholar Fact Sheet Introduction The New Jersey Nursing Initiative Faculty Preparation Program is a scholarship program designed to help qualified applicants earn master in science degrees in clinical nursing specialties, with additional preparation in education. Its goal is to support students who study to become full time nurse faculty members in New Jersey based pre license nursing programs. To be Eligible, Students Must: 1. Meet admission requirements to matriculate as full time students in the advanced clinical program at one of the following nursing programs: Kean University Community Nursing The College of New Jersey Adult nurse practitioner, family nurse practitioner, clinical nurse leader The Richard Stockton College Adult nurse practitioner, family nurse practitioner William Paterson University of New Jersey Adult nurse practitioner 2. Be a United States citizen or permanent resident 3. Commit to serve as faculty in a New Jersey based pre licensure nursing program for the first three years after graduation 4. Complete the attached application indicating choice of partner college/university 5. Include with the application a typed, two page, double spaced essay with applicant s name, address and phone number. 5 New Jersey Nursing Initiative Faculty Preparation Program RWJF New Jersey Nursing Scholar Terms of Agreement PARTNER SCHOOLS Kean University The College of New Jersey The Richard Stockton College of New Jersey William Paterson University of New Jersey THE NEW JERSEY NURSING INITIATIVE FACULTY PREPARATION PROGRAM The New Jersey Nursing Initiative Faculty Preparation Program is a scholarship program to earn a master in science degree in nursing in a clinical specialty with additional education to prepare the student as a full time nurse faculty member in a New Jersey based nursing program teaching pre license nursing students. Upon notification and acceptance of the award, the selected Scholar will receive a scholarship of tuition and fees for the entire program along with $50,000/year for two years to complete the requirements for graduation. In addition, the Scholar will receive a personal laptop computer as part of the scholarship. The Scholar will fulfill the terms of agreement as a RWJF New Jersey Nursing Scholar participating in the New Jersey Nursing Initiative Faculty Preparation Program: 1. Enroll and matriculate in a full time progression of courses in an advanced clinical program each semester. 2. Maintain a GPA of 3.0 (B grade). 3. Participate in curriculum acculturation/socialization activities as planned by the New Jersey Nursing Initiative Faculty Preparation Program with your assigned faculty member. 4. Participate in evaluation activities as requested. 5. Upon graduation, be employed as a full time nurse faculty member for three years in New Jersey. Default by the Scholar to meet any one of the preceding terms of agreement will result in paying back all the scholarship funds and returning the laptop computer.
