2 WELCOME Dear Colleagues, Central nervous system (CNS) diseases include broad category of pathological conditions in which the brain does not function as it should, limiting health and the ability to function. CNS medications are used to treat the effects of a wide variety of medical conditions, including Alzheimer's disease, depression, and Parkinson's disease. This category of medication also includes analgesics (pain medications), sedatives, antipsychotics and anticonvulsants. CNS related diseases affect the society, seriously. Thus, advances in the treatment of CNS disorders and alternative therapies should be put forward and discussed. In order to create a discuss platform about CNS disorders and treatments International Multidisciplinary Symposium on Drug Research and Development 2015 has been organised in memory of Professor Ünsal Çalış. Pharmacists, physicians, scientists, personals from authority, research and development centres, from quality control or sales departments, post graduate students, pharmaceutical care personals and who involved to these mentioned activities above, should be present at these discussions. This symposium will give delegates the opportunity to gain additional insights in CNS research by looking at the latest studies in this area. This is an opportunity not to be missed, as we delve into the complex and exciting world of CNS discovery, allowing delegates to learn, explore and debate the key areas of CNS. The content of the symposium is not limited by CNS related research. All other ideas, findings, point of views and discussions in pharmaceutical fields will also be kindly welcomed. 3 Dear Colleagues, "The Society of Researchers in Pharmacy and Medicine" was founded with the aim of improving the activities on drug research, development and application as well as establishing an active networking platform for the academicians, students, professionals and institutions working in these fields. Our society recently decided to organize a series of international meetings titled as International Multidisciplinary Symposium on Drug Research and Development in coordination with the pharmacy faculties in Türkiye. The first meeting which was co-organized by Faculty of Pharmacy, Gazi University took place in Antalya on th of November, 2013 with a broad participation. Participants included the academic staff, graduate and undergraduate students from the faculties of pharmacy, medicine and chemistry; professionals who are working in the research & development and quality control departments of drug industry and also the representatives of public institutions. We are very pleased to announce the second of International Multidisciplinary Symposium on Drug Research and Development which will be held in memory of Professor Ünsal Çalış, the founding president of our society, who invested a significant time and effort to establish a common platform for the members of academic field and drug industry. We memorialize him with honor, grace and love. We strongly believe that this meeting will provide remarkable opportunities to all stakeholders via generating a fruitful discussion platform on drug research and development.
