10 Capacity Building for the Water Supply Sector, Lao PDR Client Ministry of Communication, Transport, Post and Construction Funding Agency Norad - ADB The Project is designed to: Decentralize the water supply Implementation of water and sanitation facilities in a number of small towns Objectives : Economic growth through improvement of health and the general standard of living through sustainable potable water supply systems and sanitation facilities. The criteria for the review were to assess: The relevance of ICIMOD s activities in relation to declared targeted achievements; The effectiveness of ICIMOD to achieve the goals and outcomes; The efficiency with which inputs are leading to the targeted outputs and outcomes; and The capacity of ICIMOD to secure the sustainability of its interventions and funding base. 12

13 SEA for Detailed Spatial Plan for Hydro Power Projects on the Morača River - Montenegro Client Ministry of Economic Development Funding Agency Norwegian Water Resources and Energy Directorate The Montenegrin government has embarked upon an ambitious Energy Development Strategy and Action Plan covering the period up to The Republic of Montenegro is well endowed with water resources and with a topography suitable for hydropower generation. A cascade of four hydropower plants are planned to be built in the middle reaches of the Morača River around the locations. COWI conducted a SEA for the Detailed Spatial Plan on the above identified hydropower projects with the main objective to ensure that important issues such as environmental and people s welfare would be fully considered in order to ensure sustainable development, public participation as well as improvement of levels of protection of people s health and environment. 13
