3 International MBA Be Successful in European Business Make Paris your classroom The Sorbonne s International MBA aims to develop leadership skills in a fast-changing global economy. This is achieved through a rigorous yet flexible curriculum, innovative teaching methods and direct connections with the European business world. This is combined with a unique approach to personal development through the close supervision of an applied research project and the enhancement of soft skills. This is a seventeen-month part-time program taught in English. The timeline stretches over two separate periods. Classes and seminars take place during the first fourteen months, from September to mid-october. The three remaining months are dedicated to the applied research project, during which MBA students are not required to be in Paris. Supervision by faculty and the final presentation may be organized either face-to-face or online. Classes are held one or two evenings a week, and two Saturdays a month over fourteen months. This part-time program allows participants to continue with their full-time employment. The curriculum is designed to be flexible and dynamic in order to achieve two goals: to develop comprehensive core management knowledge and techniques and to gain valuable insights into current business issues through discussion of the latest international case studies. Our effective teaching methods focus on four key learning processes at the heart of the curriculum. The program starts with this welcome seminar which is focused both on team building and enhancement of soft skills. MBA students will receive methodology guidance for case-study preparation and a training session which aims to improve oral expression, written presentation and public speaking. MBA students will also experience managerial issues through a mock business simulation. This seminar addresses the central question of how companies relate to a broader environment that includes political, legal and economic risk assessment, business-government relations and relations with supra-national organizations. The visits to European Union institutions in Brussels, as well as company visits, will help students develop valuable insights into how global practices need to be customized in the E.U. Understanding how to be successful in business in Eastern Europe is the main topic of this seminar which takes place in Prague (Czech Republic). Location may change to another major city in Eastern Europe if an interesting opportunity arises which coincides with the seminar s goals. Interviews with business executives and company visits will be the main focus of this seminar. MBA students will also gain deep insight into the unique characteristics of these European countries in terms of management practices, economic and political environment, and cultural attributes. Students undertake an applied research project related to a management issue of their choice: The first part of the seminar is dedicated to the presentation of each MBA student s project. Through interactive discussions with Faculty members, coaching and methodology guidance will be provided. The second part is based on the making of an entrepreunerial project discussed and presented during the seminar. As entrepreunarial managers, the students will gain insight into how a business creation can be sustained over time.
