TECHNICAL/ENGINEERING ASSISTANCE Start Date 13-Dec-11 End Date 06-Jun-13 Rates and Hours Actual Results Provided technical and administrative support to one project, FY12-01, for critical area planting along the shoreline. Grant Activity - Thureen Flood Damage Repair This project will provide critical area stabilization associated with a major flood event. Record rainfall on June 19-20, 2012 resulted in widespread flood damage to southern Lake County. Damage to the Thureen residence included total loss of their septic drainfield through a massive slump on the shoreline of. Cost Share assistance was provided to cover approximately 72% of their flood damage expenses related to replacing the septic system, hydromulching the lakeshore, and planting a forest buffer strip along the bluff. Category STREAMBANK OR SHORELINE PROTECTION Start Date 13-Dec-11 End Date 06-Jun-13 Rates and Hours Actual Results Completed: In 2012, the lakeshore was hydromulched with seed and the bluff was graded and stabilized; the septic system was replaced using flood relief funding which was allowed due to the emergency situation, imminent threat to public health, and in need for immediate action to mitigate threats to both the natural resources and human health.
