Please read the following general instructions, as well as any sections that pertain to you, before completing the ap pli ca tion. Failure to provide complete, accurate, and truthful information will be grounds to deny or withdraw your admission or dismiss you after enrollment. CHECKLIST FOR ALL APPLICANTS q Complete and sign the Undergraduate Application for Admission by the deadline noted in the instructions that pertain to you. q Enclose a nonrefundable $55 check or money order made payable to UNCG through a U.S. bank for the application fee. Include your full legal name on your check. Applications received without the fee enclosed will not be processed. Do not send cash. If you prefer to pay by credit card, please apply online. q Request official transcripts enclosed in sealed envelopes. Including transcripts with the application will save considerable processing time. q Request that official SAT or ACT scores, including the writing component, be sent to UNCG directly from the testing agency. Freshmen Freshmen are students entering UNCG directly from high school. For the fall semester: Application review begins September 15. Priority consideration applications are due December 1. Students who wish to be considered for university scholarships must complete the application process (including a required essay) by December 1, All required credentials must be submitted by that date. Completed applications received between December 2 and March 1 will be reviewed on a rolling basis. Applications received between March 2 and July 15 will be reviewed on a space-available basis. The final application deadline for the fall semester is July 15. For spring semester, the final deadline is November 15. Refer to the Checklist for All Applicants on page 1. Please pay careful attention to the following: Students who are not from N.C. public high schools should complete the top portion of the enclosed High School Report Form. Have your high school counselor fill out the bottom section and arrange to have the form along with your official high school transcript (in a sealed envelope) showing senior courses in progress sent to UNCG. If you have completed any college courses while enrolled in high school, including summer session or extension work, request official transcripts from each institution attended. While not required, letters of recommendation may be considered as part of the application review. Transfers For admission consideration, transfer applicants must present 30 transferable semester hours or more of college credit from a regionally accredited institution, have a minimum overall transferable grade point average of 2.3 on a 4.0 scale as calculated by UNCG, have successfully completed a high school curriculum meeting the Minimum High School Course Requirements referenced on page 4, and be eligible to return to their last institution attended. Priority consideration applications (including all required credentials) are due by March 1 for the fall semester or October 1 for the spring semester. The final application deadlines are July 15 (space permitting) for the fall semester or November 15 (space permitting) for the spring semester. Have official transcripts submitted from each high school, college, or university attended, including summer session or extension work. Provide a list of courses in progress and include the course titles, course numbers, and the credit hours attempted. (You should not list the courses that will appear on your transcript.) Any student who has fewer than 30 transferable semester hours of credit must meet the requirements for both freshman and transfer applicants (including SAT or ACT scores). Any student who has attended a collegiate institution that is not regionally accredited must meet the requirements for both freshman and transfer applicants (including SAT or ACT scores). Transfer students should contact the school or department of interest to learn of any additional entrance requirements specific to the major. Adult Students If you are 24 years of age or older and have completed high school, earned an adult high school diploma, or earned a GED, you may be considered for admission as a nontraditional adult student. If you are under 24 years of age, you must have fulfilled the Minimum High School Course Requirements (page 4) or a required sequence of college transfer courses to be eligible for consideration. Former students must meet the prevailing admission standards for the term in which they wish to enroll. Students must clear all holds from their record, if applicable. 4 International Applicants For the purpose of admission, UNCG defines an international student applicant as a foreign national who holds, or who intends to hold, a temporary, non-immigrant visa/status in the U.S.A. International students apply through the International Programs Center. For additional information, please call (336) Second Baccalaureate Degree Applicants If you hold a baccalaureate degree from a regionally accredited institution and wish to take undergraduate work toward a second baccalaureate degree in a different field, apply for admission as a second baccalaureate degree applicant. Visiting Students High school seniors with superior academic credentials may want to supplement their high school curriculum with courses at UNCG. Early High School Graduates Students who plan to complete high school in fewer than four years with the intention of enrolling at UNCG are considered on a case-by-case basis. To determine if you are eligible to enroll as an early high school graduate, please call Undergraduate Admissions at (336) Plus Applicants 2Plus articulation students are transfer students with several unique requirements and procedures. Details governing their enrollment are provided in the articulation notices. The decision for admission is based on successful completion of the AAS/ADN degree and other specific factors outlined in the 2Plus articulation notice. Students admitted under the 2Plus agreement must notify Undergraduate Admissions to change their major. A change in major may result in a change in the student s admissibility. 2Plus students must meet the GPA requirements of the UNCG school of their major as designated in the articulation notice. 5 The Admission Process Your application will be reviewed upon receipt of your application form and all required credentials. Should Un der grad u ate Ad mis sions need additional in for ma tion or documentation regarding your application, you will be contacted immediately. Applicants are notified in writing of decisions regarding their applications. However, ad mis sion offers are con tin gent upon satisfactory com ple tion of required courses and the maintenance of a satisfactory cu mu la tive GPA. Official final transcripts are reviewed to verify that admitted students meet all GPA and course re quire ments. Admission to UNCG for traditional freshmen and transfer students is competitive based on a combination of your overall high school and/or college record as well as SAT or ACT scores*. In addition, you must meet the Minimum High School Course Requirements listed below. Minimum High School Course Requirements English (4 units) emphasis on grammar, composition, and literature Mathematics (4 units) Algebra I, Algebra II, Geometry, one advanced course beyond Algebra II (required for 2006 high school graduates and beyond)** Science (3 units) including at least one unit in life or biological science, at least one unit in physical science, and at least one lab o ra to ry course Social Science (2 units) including one unit in U.S. history and one unit in history, eco nom ics, sociology, or civics Foreign Language (2 units) both units should be in the same language (required for 2004 high school graduates and beyond) If you are a transfer applicant who did not successfully complete the required high school units, you must complete specific college-level courses in order to transfer to UNCG. Application Information for Lloyd International Honors College at UNCG Lloyd International Honors College is a special option for exceptionally motivated students and admits students pursuing all undergraduate degrees. Successful applicants typically have at least a 1200 on the critical reading and mathematics portions of the SAT combined, a 3.8 high school weighted GPA, or a 27 ACT composite score. To be considered for admission, incoming first-year and transfer applicants must meet one of these criteria.
