2 ABOUT GREENFLEET Australia s first carbon offset provider Registered not-for-profit environmental organisation Planting permanent biodiverse native forests Greenfleet was the first to register a Carbon Sequestration Right on title, under the Climate Change Act (Vic) SUPPORTER CONTRIBUTIONS Supporter Period Amount CO 2 e (tonnes) Established trees* Current $47, ,801 14,184 * The word trees & planted are used to represent tonnes of greenhouse gas emissions (CO2-e) and does represent a physical tree tonnes of CO2-e is the average amount of greenhouse gas emissions absorbed by trees within Greenfleet s forests, but realistically this varies according to species selection, planting density, geographic location and other specific site criteria. Our aim is to achieve an average of 268 t CO2-e per hectare over 20 years - to achieve this we plant our forests at an initial rate of between 750 and 1,200 stems per hectare. This number of trees is a reasonable estimate of the number of trees required to be initially planted to sequester the total quantity of carbon purchased and takes into account that not all trees initially planted will survive due to the natural survival rate of trees. Accordingly, trees that do not survive following initial plantation may not necessarily be replanted. Greenfleet's commitment to recapture carbon on behalf of our supporters involves the management of native forests across all our planting sites. Greenfleet s forest pool is forecast to meet its overall carbon commitments to supporters. Pitt & Sherry Page 1 of 5

3 NIEMUROO, MOULAMEIN, NSW Planting year Total Site Area CO 2 e (tonnes) Established Trees* ha 88, ,000 The site is located alongside the Niemur River in South Western NSW. The site was purchased by Greenhouse Balanced* as part of a revegetation program, aiming to connect existing trees to larger reserves and parks. The site was direct seeded in 2011 and germination has begun with Wattles being in great abundance. These include the Hard Leaf Wattle, Umbrella Wattle, Hakea Wattle and Eumong species. Red Gum and Black Box seedlings are also being observed throughout the site. Kangaroos are present in small numbers; however there was minimum evidence of browsing activity. *(Greenhouse Balanced is an Australian owned company who works with landholders, Environmental Agencies and Government to reestablish indigenous vegetation, focusing on protecting biodiversity, water quality, and improving the resilience of natural ecosystems.) 4 MT WORTH, 2008 PLANTING, VIC Planting year Total site area CO 2 e (tonnes) Established Trees* ha 2,680 10,000 This site has experienced excellent growth levels with Mountain Ash reaching heights of 18 metres and Silver Wattle reaching heights of 16.7 metres in height. The Kangaroo Apple are producing ripe fruits and the dogwood are currently in flower. There is an outstanding array of birdlife with Grey Fantails, Golden Whistlers, Grey Shrike Thrush and Fairy Wrens currently being observed. A wedge tail eagle has also been seen flying over the site. Golden Whistler Kangaroo Apple Fruit Silver Wattle Mountain Ash Pitt & Sherry Page 3 of 5

5 PLOUGHSHARE, WEDDERBURN, VIC Planting year Total site area CO 2 e (tonnes) Established Trees* ha 73, ,995 The site is experiencing a 90% survival rate. The Black Wattle species are achieving heights of 6-7metres. Mallee Wattle, which is a shrub species, is reaching heights of 2-3 metres. It is Greenfleet s best performing site in the Wedderburn region with excellent bio diversity across the planting area. 6 YANAC NHILL, VIC Planting year Total site area CO 2 e (tonnes) Established Trees* ha 129, ,000 The best performing species at the entrance of the site are the Golden Wattle, Grey Mulga, Wallowa and Silver Cassia. A recent spike in germination has occurred on the northern section of the site in the form of Golden Wattle and Wallowa. To the west, those plants that germinated shortly after seeding have now achieved heights over 1m. Emus and Kangaroos have been sighted as well as a Wedge Tailed Eagle and small birds such as Willy Wagtails.
