1 Texas Rising Star : How-To Enter Scores using the TRS Online Assessment Tool Texas Rising Star Assessors REVISED MAY 28, 2015 The following steps explain how to enter scores using the TRS online assessment tool in April 2015 Documents needed: Facility Assessment Record Form Classroom Assessment Record Form Step 1: Go to Click on TRS Staff Login Step 2: Log in to CLI Engage Page 1 of 12

2 Step 3: Click on Texas Rising Star Button Step 4: Search for/select school or provider that you have assessed and are entering scores for Step 5: Review center information to ensure that all fields are accurate (director name etc.) If changes need to be made, click on the Edit button. *Note: Be sure to press SUBMIT when edits are made. Step 6: Ensure that the Facility type is accurate for the type of assessment that was completed. *Note: LCAA Licensed Childcare All Ages (birth-12 years), LCSA-Licensed Childcare Centers (School age only), LCCH- Licensed Childcare Homes, RCCH- Registered Childcare Homes Page 2 of 12

3 6a. For centers that possess a national accreditation, FIRST click the auto assign 4* box. NEXT, select the type of designation either one of the National Accredited Programs or the US Military. The Verified Star Designation will be 4*. Below is what will appear in the Verified Star Designation field. FINALLY, scroll to the bottom of the page and click SUBMIT. *Note: if a center meets the requirement of being Nationally Accredited or U.S. Military, after completing this step and proceed to STEP 16 (REPORTS section). 6b. There may be some instances where upon initial TRS certification you need to change the Star Rating from a 4* to a lower designation due to licensing deficiencies. If so, please click on the Verified Star Designation and choose the appropriate designation. For more information refer to section 2 of the TRS Child Care Provider Certification Guidelines for more information. Page 3 of 12

4 Step 7: Click Back to School List (if there have been any changes in the class select the bell action button and make edits) Step 8: Locate school and select the Action Button (play button to begin assessment) Step 9: Click on Start Assessment button Page 4 of 12

5 9a. Enter Dates Visit Date: Date in which the assessment is completed Discuss Date: the date you plan to discuss the results with the provider or program *if the date needs to be changed after assessment, it can be changed manually on the printed copy. Approval Date: Set date to 9/01/2015 during the transitions phase (per guidance from TWC). Step 10: Select type of assessment. *Note: Initial for new providers and Recertification for existing TRS participants Step 11: Begin to enter scores - Category 1 and Category 5 using the Facility Assessment Record Form - Category 2, category 3, Category 4 using Classroom Assessment Record Form *Note: After each section has been filled out completely the category bar turns from red to green. 6 Step 12: After all scores have been entered - Press Save - Press Preview to view the provider scores, assessment results, and check all information entered. Step 13: Select TA Status- see TRS guidelines on how to determine appropriate plan. Page 6 of 12

7 Step 14: Confirm report and select FINALIZE Step 15: Verify Calculated Star and press SUBMIT *Reports will be generated after information is submitted Page 7 of 12

8 To view report Step 16: Search for school/provider that you have assessed, entered scores and are generating a report for and select the Action button (play). Step 17: Select report type. Result Report - The report that is generated after all of the data has been entered. - The calculated and verified star designation will be displayed on this report. Page 8 of 12

9 Facility TA plan - The report that is generated so that the mentor can begin to assist the Director with items in the categories specifically related to the facility (Categories 1, specific items in Category 4, and Category 5). - Any item in which the provider scores a 0, 1, and 2 will automatically be displayed on the plan along with a linking video or document to be used as a resource that the mentor can use to assist the Director as well. Class TA Plan - The report that is generated for each of the classrooms that were assessed and supporting data (scores) were entered. - The mentor is able to use the report generated in order to assist teachers in the classroom. - Any item in which the provider scores a 0, 1, and 2 will automatically be displayed on the plan along with a linking video or document to be used as a resource that the mentor can use to assist the Teacher as well.
