2 Use TWS feedback for Program Improvement Goal: Continuous Improvement of Instruction PEF will align and integrate TWS components into Course Syllabi will reflect all components of TWS. Joyce Downing oversees all PEF faculty coursework leading to initial certification (include with designated components on the TWS MAT and LIS initial certification programs). course crosswalk. Late Spring/Summer, PEF committee will convene again to review and revise TWS Complete revised form, professional development plan and integration plan Joyce Downing, Nicole Nickens, TWS Committee made up of PEF members Summer 2011 Common Course Assessments for Core Classes Improve Field Experience Determine procedure for using TWS results to inform program and course reviews Changes will be made to respective programs as appropriate based on TWS data annually. Secondary and K-12 Professional Education Block courses will be revised, including competencies, syllabi, and common assessments Present revised Professional Education Block to PEF faculty. Place early field experience students in urban schools. Develop and maintain data management system for collecting information on all field experience sites and placements. Increase collaboration between PEF and U-sups. See unit assessment calendar Joyce Downing Changes reflected in Program Area minutes; Program Advisory Committee minutes; and syllabus revisions. Revised crosswalk, syllabi (including course outcomes), and copies of common assessments. Committee will provide detailed explanation of course content and assessments to PEF. 100% of students have an extended field experience in an urban school. 100% of instructors with course-embedded field experiences will require students to complete Credit for Field Experience form and submit to Clinical Services 100% of students, by the end of student teaching semester, will have documented field experiences in 10 different data-collection categories Offer U-sups opportunities to attend faculty meetings and teach courses (as appropriate) Program Coordinators; Dept. Offer ECEL 5350: Supervising Student Teachers, in Summer Joint Professional Development Program with LEA and/or MCC Develop a relationship with MCC and the Professional Development Network (PD cooperative of KC school districts) leading to common PD activities. Include D-sups on PEF mailings, s, newsletters, meetings, etc. (including electronic distribution for those not able to attend in person). Professional development opportunities held for all stakeholders. Participate in the PDN Julie Blaine; Dean Wright; Carl Grigsby Fall 2012 University faculty attend professional development sessions (PLC, RTI, DI, Assessment, etc.) with public school educators. Host Professional Development event and invite MCC faculty and public school personnel to participate. Revise annual Faculty Profile report to include public school participation. Revise Promotion and Tenure Guidelines to reflect public school participation, as appropriate. Host PD sessions at Summit Center. Significant number of faculty from each department participating in district PD, as noted in Faculty Annual Reports. Number of attendees from both public schools and MCC. Dept. Promotion and Tenure Committee Reciprocity in teaching assignments with MCC faculty Collaboration between MCC and UCM faculty on alignment of course content. Professor exchange UCM faculty members teach at MCC, and MCC faculty teach UCM course. Instructional planning meetings are held, and courses revised if necessary. 4 Goal: Marketing & Recruitment Imbed recruiter/advisor on MCC campuses. Person employed and housed on-site Carl Grigsby Fall 2010 Recruit Undergraduates (with emphasis on minority and nontraditional students) Recruit Graduate Students Contact current students in AAT (Foundations classes) who attend MCC and encourage them to enroll at UCM. UCM Faculty visit classes; Educate MCC faculty & staff about programs at UCM; Promote benefits of collaboration. Provide a MCC/UCM articulated 4 year program of study for MCC freshman. Expand undergraduate offerings at the Summit Center. Improve UCM & COE web sites to make scholarships easier to find. Present Charter School Students a complete picture from beginning to end, freshman to senior year where their first 2 years are at MCC and second 2 years are at Summit Center. Market MCC/UCM 2+2 program through the KC Hispanic Chamber of Commerce and other civic groups. Provide recruitment packages to KC area school counselors. Develop a package of information to be placed in the teacher s lounge as faculty supervise practica, internships, and student teaching candidates. Visits by graduate program faculty to schools; Plan a COE Graduate Program day at schools. Contact undergraduate students as they complete undergraduate degree (one comprehensive communication letting students know about all of our degrees and who they could contact.
