1 Discovery Pack 7-11yrs This pack will help you find your way around the exhibition, and discover more about the man who was King Richard III. Be sure to look at all the exhibits as you go around. Let s get started These are the five people you meet in the film: Can you match their names up to what relation they are to Richard? Draw a line between them to join them up. Look at the map on the wall War of the Roses Find Bosworth Battlefield where Richard died, it s near the middle of the map. Now can you find these battles: Which battle is furthest north on the map? Which battle is furthest south on the map? Go through the dark corridor Find the Princes in the Tower display The Princes in the Tower were King Edward IV s sons, what were their names?

2 Heraldry - open the doors to find the answers: Who has fish on their badge? Who has white stars on their badge? Heraldic badges had different symbols on them, the symbols meant different things. Draw your own badge here. 4 Find the BONE ANALYSIS display Find out how tall King Richard was and then measure how tall you are. How tall was King Richard? How tall are you?.... Find the suit of armour A suit of medieval armour like this would have weighed about 25kg. That s about as heavy as an 8 year old child or a Collie dog. King Richard s armour at the Battle of Bosworth would have had a crown on the helmet like this one. Draw the helmet here Find the CARBON DATING display Richard III s bones were sent away to be carbon dated. This is a way of telling how old something is. Seafood contains more carbon 14 than other food and Richard was rich enough to afford to eat lots of seafood. Scientists had to take this into account in their results. 5 Head wounds The weapon from downstairs is a Halberd, and this was one of the weapons used to kill King Richard at Bosworth. Find the skeleton Where was Richard s head injured? Can you draw the injuries on the skull below, and label which weapons made them: Find the FACIAL RECONSTRUCTION display The skull of the reconstructed head was made by 3-d printing, can you find another exhibit made by 3-d printing?..
