Weeks, is Professor of Egyptology at American University in Cairo and director of both The Theban Mapping Project and The Valley of the Kings KV5 Project. His mapping of the tombs and excavations in the Valley of the Kings led to the discovery of the largest tomb ever found there, the tomb of the sons of the pharaoh Ramesses II. WEA Centre NEW NON-ROYAL TOMBS IN THE VALLEY OF THE KINGS Dr Susanne Bickel is Professor of Egyptology at Basel University, Switzerland and Head of the University of Basel King s Valley Project. She has led archaeological projects at a number of Egyptian temples including Karnak and the Temple of Merneptah at Luxor. She is currently exploring a number of non- royal tombs in the Valley of the Kings including a new discovery: the tomb of Nehemes-Bastet as well as a tomb of a group of New Kingdom princesses. WEA Centre Image WORKING IN THE FUNERAL INDUSTRY-MORTUARY The WEA in conjunction with the Australasian Funeral Industry Training Services (AFITS) are presenting this unique tutorial, the only course of its type in Australia. This detailed tutorial will focus wholly on employment in a mortuary. It will be conducted entirely at and with, the generosity of IVAN BUTLER FUNERALS. The care of the deceased is the privilege given to very few, a mortuary attendant and an embalmer. In this tutorial we will cover the desired skills and personal attributes required for employment in a mortuary. We will also review the knowledge, skills and equipment required to fulfil the duties. You will be given a practical insight (incl. demonstrations) into all aspects of working in a mortuary, in the funeral industry (incl. transferring the deceased). Together we will review all the essential care and embalming skills utilised in a modern mortuary. During this tutorial we will view a pre-recorded embalming demonstration.
