2 System of Education in Slovakia 1/5 Pre-school training and education of children in pre-school facilities from the age of two to generally six years. Preschool training and education refers to education of the child in the family, completed with training and education activity that focuses on development of the child's personality, as well as the child's social, emotional, physical and intellectual development.

3 System of Education in Slovakia 2/5 Elementary training and education of children at elementary school that provides elementary education. The constitution of the Slovak Republic ensures the right of each citizen to education at state elementary schools free of charge and the possibility of attending other than state schools. Professional artistic education at elementary artistic school within individual artistic fields: This prepares children for study in educational fields at secondary schools with an artistic orientation and at conservatories and also prepares them professionally for study at universities with an artistic and artistic-pedagogic orientation.

At the secondary professional training schools, students prepare in educational fields for skilled labor and professional occupations

5 System of Education in Slovakia 4/5 Special training and education provides for children and students with specific training and educational needs [e.g., with mental, physical, visual, or acoustic disabilities, etc.] at particular schools and facilities offering special pedagogic expertise. Training and education of national minorities provided at pre-school facilities, elementary schools, secondary schools, special schools and school facilities with teaching in languages other than Slovak.

6 System of Education in Slovakia 5/5 Education and training at clerical and private schools and school facilities that may be established by the churches or religious communities recognized by the state, or by another legal entity or natural person. Education obtained in these schools is equivalent to the education provided at other schools and tuition can be charged.

8 The System of Coordination of Vocational Education and Training for the Labor Market (VET System) has been established by the Act of vocational education and training The Act has determined the rights and responsibilities of all participants of the VET System VET System has created the motivating area for the entrance of the employers and unions of employers into VET System and also for the entrance of the private capital

10 Rights and Responsibilities of the Participants of the VET System 1/2 Ministry of Education of the Slovak Republic creates strategic, conceptual and methodical documents for the VET establishes the system of the fields of study and educational fields, establishes the content of VET - everything in the cooperation with professional and occupative organizations and self-governing regions Ministry of Health of the Slovak republic performs the tasks of the Ministry of Education for the medical fields

11 Rights and Responsibilities of the Participants of the VET System 2/2 Ministry of Interior of the Slovak republic performs the tasks for the fields in the area of security services and fire protection Ministry of Labour, Social Affairs and Family performs the tasks according to the legal provisions in force Other Ministries

12 Entitlements and Obligations of Participants of the VET Coordination System for Labour Market 1/4 Self-governing region: at national level: submits a proposal of a new study or vocational course for the inclusion into/exclusion from the structure of educational courses to the Ministry of Education of the Slovak Republic.

13 Entitlements and Obligations of Participants of the VET Coordination System for Labour Market 2/4 Self-governing region: at national level: creates VET regional strategy in cooperation with UOSS, professional organisations and representatives from employers; informs learners and their legal representatives about the needs of labour market and about the VET potential; specifies the SOS number of courses in the first year of study and prepares entrance exams in accordance with the VET regional strategy; advises SS establishments within its regional reach on the number of courses in the first year of study in all secondary schools and entrance exams for the following year in accordance with the needs of labour

14 Entitlements and Obligations of Participants of the VET Coordination System for Labour Market 3/4 Trade unions, trade organisations and employers advisory boards: creates VET regional strategy in cooperation with UOSS, professional organisations represent employers interests in the area of vocational education and preparation; advise on budget and financial security of learners; contribute towards creating plans for meeting the needs of labour market; advise on the system of educational courses and on the content of vocational education and preparation.

15 Entitlements and Obligations of Participants of the VET Coordination System for Labour Market 4/4 Admission of employers and employers unions into VET: creates VET regional strategy in cooperation with UOSS, professional organisations represent employers interests in the area of vocational education and preparation; planning of educational needs for labour market; participation in creating new content of education and in innovating existing educational content; participation in running vocational education and preparation; contribution towards the assessment of the quality of vocational education and preparation at the end of study at secondary specialist schools
