2 A. LEVEL OF KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED COURSE PLAN Previous understanding of Law and International Law is required Interpretation of laws and understanding of research component is essential B. OBJECTIVES The objectives of this course are: To make the student understand the dynamics of IPR To engage in today s debate in India and reflection of international law To understand the dilemmas of IPR in India To provide further tools for understanding IPR C. COURSE OUTLINE Module 1: Introduction Module 2: Interdisciplinary approach Science, Art and Jurisprudence Module 3: Contents of Rights Module 4: Copyrights Module 5: Patents Module 6: Trademarks Module 7: International Aspect of IPR D. PEDAGOGY Presentations (Individual/Group) Case Study Class Test Assignments Extempore Group E. COURSE COMPLETION PLAN Total : 4 hours of contact classes per week and 48 lectures during the semester. 3 E. EVALUATION & GRADING Description Marks Schedule 1. Internal Examination 30 Detailed Below 2. Mid term Exam 20 Academic Calendar 3. End term Exam 50 Academic Calendar Internal Assessment: Marks 100 (shall be done based on the following): 1. Written Test : 1 2. Assignment : 1 3. Group / : 1 4. Presentation/ Project : 1 Internal Assessment: Weightage 30% Class Tests / Assignments: Class Tests containing short theory questions would be conducted in class. Assignments would be take-home analytical question(s). Syndicate Sessions: Syndicates will be held dividing the class into number of batches for conducting case studies/role plays etc. Cooperation among the students is encouraged. Both individual effort and team work is necessary not only for effective problem solving strategies but also for enhancement of professional qualities. Mid- Sem Examination: Weightage 20 % Mid- Sem examination shall be of two hour duration and shall be a combination of objective questions, short theory questions and long analytical questions. End -Sem Examination: Weightage 50% End-Sem examination shall be of three hours duration. The examination paper shall have objective questions, short questions based on theories and analytical questions. Attendance Students are required to have minimum attendance of 75%. Students with less than said percentage shall not be allowed to appear in the end- semester examination. Cell Phones and other Electronic Communication Devices: Cell phones and other electronic communication devices (such as Blackberries) are not permitted in classes, tests or the mid/final Examination. 4 and LMS: Each student in the class should have an id and a pass word to access the LMS system regularly. The IT department would assist in case of any discrepancies. Important information such as date of conducting class tests, guest lectures, syndicate sessions etc. to the class will be transmitted via /lms. F.
