3 Prior to installing Paymate Platinum on a server or a workstation, please make sure all minimum systems requirements are met (see section, Minimum System Requirements). Minimum System Requirements Microsoft Windows NT 4 with SP 3, Windows XP or higher Administrative privileges Microsoft Internet Explorer 6.01 SP2 or higher Pentium-class CPU 300MHz or higher 128MB RAM 50MB disk space Super VGA monitor, with minimum screen resolution of 800 x 600 Windows compatible laser printer Preparation If you are running anti-virus software we recommend that you disable it during the installation as it may interfere with the installation. Once you have completed the installation of Paymate you may reactivate the anti-virus software. Page 3 of 20

Install SQL server 2005 (see section, Installation of SQL server 2005) 3. Reboot 4. Run the program and define license file location (see section, Specifying license file location) 5. Install Microsoft SQL Server 2005 instance AKM on server (see section, Installation of Microsoft SQL Server 2005 instance AKM) 3. Reboot 4. Run the program on the server and define license file location (see section, Specifying license file location) 5. Install Paymate Platinum on each workstation (see section, Installation of Paymate Platinum) 6. Run the program on each workstation and define license file location (see section, Specifying license file location), then change the database path (see section, Configuring Paymate Platinum to connect to database engine located on Server) Page 4 of 20

5 Installation of Paymate Platinum 1. Browse to the location where you downloaded the file PLATINUMCAN.EXE 2. Double click on the file PLATINUMCAN.EXE or Right click and Run as Administrator for Windows Vista\Windows This will launch the installation wizard. Once the wizard has completed extracting the installation files, click on 'Next' to continue 4. After reviewing the 'License Agreement', click on either 'Yes' or 'No'. Note: If you click on 'No', the installation will not continue 5. Enter your User Name and Company Name 6. Choose your desired destination folder, and click 'Next' to start copying files. When the installation is complete, click on 'Finish'. Note: It is highly recommended that you accept the default destination folder Specifying License File Location When you run the program and the license file location dialog (see image below) will appear. The license file location is where the program s license file will be located. If Paymate Platinum is being installed on a single computer this location may reside on the local drive. If Paymate Platinum is being installed onto more than one computer, the license file location must be set to a shared directory that all users of Paymate Platinum can access it with full read and write permissions. Click OK to save the changes. Page 5 of 20

6 Activation of Paymate Platinum Activation of Product You need to activate the product ONE TIME ONLY. In other words, once the product is activated, you do not need to activate it again even you have uninstalled and reinstall the program. There will be two options on how to activate the product. First you should get Paymate Platinum serial number from your customer portal. If you have a serial number and an active internet connection, select the option, I have a Serial Number and I want to activate Paymate Platinum. Refer to section 1 for further instructions. If you have a serial number and would like to activate with a fax, click the link You can also request an unlock key by Fax. Refer to section 2 for further instruction. 1. To activate Paymate Platinum Online An internet connection is required to activate Paymate Platinum online. To activate online select the first option I have a serial number and I want to activate Paymate Platinum and click on next. Enter your serial number, company name and then click on the next button. Paymate Platinum will connect via the internet to our activation web server and activate the product. You will receive notification if the activation is successful. 2. To activate Paymate Platinum with fax To activate Paymate Platinum using a fax click on the link You can also request an unlock key by fax. Enter your serial number, company name and then click on the Request Unlock Key by Fax print Fax link. A print preview screen will be displayed. Print this document and fax it to the fax numbers provided on the fax. A customer support representative will contact you with your unlock codes. Note: The Unlock by Fax process may take 1 to 2 business days. Page 6 of 20

7 Activation of Additional Modules If you have purchased any additional features or modules, each of them is required to be activated before they are available in the program. In your customer portal area, it shows Paymate Platinum and all the modules that you have purchased for. Modules that require activation are those that have an activation key next to them. You need to activate the additional module ONE TIME ONLY. In other words, once it is activated, you do not need to activate it again even you have uninstalled and reinstall the program. If you have any module that requires activation key and you have not ever activated it before, then you do the following: 1. To begin activating the additional modules, double click on the Paymate Platinum icon on your desktop. 2. Within Paymate Platinum click Help and then click on License Information. 3. Each Paymate Platinum module has an activation key listed on your Customer Portal, enter the key for the module and click OK. 4. Repeat step 3 for any Paymate Platinum modules that are not activated. 8 Installation of Microsoft SQL server 2005 Note: SQL server 2005 must be installed after installing Paymate Platinum 1. Browse to the location where you downloaded the file SQLSERVER2005EXPRESSAKM32 / SQLSERVER2005EXPRESSAKM64. Download the SQL 2005 installation from your customer portal, there are two installations YOU WILL ONLY NEED ONE OF THEM. SQL 2005 Express Installation for 32 bit operating systems and SQL 2005 Express Installation for 64 bit operating systems To check which one you will need you can go to: Start Control Panel System System Type 2. Double click on the file SQLSERVER2005EXPRESSAKM32 / SQLSERVER2005EXPRESSAKM64 or Right click and Run as Administrator for Windows Vista\Windows This will launch the installation wizard. Once the installation wizard has completed extracting the required files, click 'Next' to continue. 4. After reviewing the 'License Agreement', click on either 'Yes' or 'No'. Note: If you click on 'No', the installation will not continue. 5. In the Choose Destination Location screen, specify a temporary folder where the installation files of SQL server 2005 will be extracted to. 6. Click on 'Next' to continue. 7. In the second Choose Destination Location screen, enter the destination folder for the SQL server 2005 installation. Note: SQL server 2005 MUST be installed to a local drive. 8. Click on 'Next' and it will display the Start Copying Files screen. On this screen, you should verify the details of the installation. If anything is incorrect at this point, you can click on 'Back' to fix the error. Note: If you click on 'Next' on this screen, the installation will begin copying files, and you will not be able to cancel. 9. Click on 'Next' to begin copying files. When the installation is complete, click on 'Finish'. The SQL server 2005 Installation must now configure the SQL Server Instance. You are not required to do anything during this phase, but you MUST wait until it finishes. Once the configuration is completed, REBOOT YOUR COMPUTER. Page 8 of 20

9 Manual Installation of Microsoft SQL Server 2005 instance AKM Note: If you are installing Microsoft SQL Server 2005 instance AKM on to a computer with Windows Server 2003 or later version, then the password policy Password must meet complexity requirements is enabled by default. You must change the following policies before continuing: 1.Navigate to Start All Programs Administrative Tools Local Security Policy 2.From Local Security Settings screen, go to Account Policies Password Policy 3.Make sure policy Minimum password length is set to 0 characters 4.Make sure policy Password must meet complexity requirements is set to Disabled You can change these policies back to original settings AFTER you have completed ALL steps of the installation option D. The following instructions will guide you through the process of installing Microsoft SQL Server 2005 instance AKM as database engine for Paymate Platinum using your own Microsoft SQL Server 2005 CD. 1. Insert the Microsoft SQL Server 2005 CD into the drive. The disk should auto run. If it does not, you must browse to your CD drive, and run setup manually 2. On Start screen, go to Install section and select Server components, tools, Books Online, and samples Page 9 of 20

10 3. On 'End User License Agreement', read the license agreement carefully. If you agree, and wish to continue the installation, click 'I accept the licensing terms and conditions' and click on Next to continue. If you do not agree, and would like to terminate the installation, click 'Cancel' 4. On 'Installing Prerequisites' screen, the wizard will check your computer for prerequisites software components. And install the required components and configure it. Page 10 of 20

11 5. Click Next when the required software components are being installed. 6. On System Configuration Check screen, the installation wizard will scan for the configuration of your SQL server And it will check for the system configuration. Page 11 of 20

12 7. Click Next to continue. 8. Wizard will now check for the installed software components and install and configure automatically if not yet configured. Page 12 of 20

13 9. Click Next to continue the installation and setting up internal configurations. 10. On Registration Information screen, enter the appropriate Name and Company for this computer, and click on Next. Enter also the serial number if it shows in this screen. Serial number show only for the first time in installing SQL server. Click Next to continue Page 13 of 20

14 11. On Components to Install, select services that you want to include in your instance. Click on Next to continue 12. On Instance Name screen, select the option Named instance and type (in capitals) AKM. Click on Next to continue Page 14 of 20

15 13. On Existing components screen, wizard will check for the instance name. Click on Next to Continue 14. On Service Account screen, select Local system for service account login. Click Next to continue Page 15 of 20

16 15. On Authentication Mode screen, select Mixed Mode (Windows Authentication and SQL Server Authentication). At the bottom. And a customer support representative will setup the default passwords for your SQL Server instance. Contact Paymate Software and ask for assistance on SQL Server 2005/2008 password resetting. 16. On Collation Settings screen, first select option SQL collations (used for compatibility with previous versions of SQL Server) then choose Dictionary order, case-insensitive, for use with 1252 Character Set. 17 17. On Report Server Installation Options screen, select the option Install the default configuration and click on Next to continue 18. On Error and Usage Report Settings screen, check boxes if you want to report server error to Microsoft. Click on Next button to continue Page 17 of 20

18 19. On Ready to Install screen, wizard will display for installation information. Click on Install button to continue and the program start copying required files. 20. On Setup Progress screen, wizard is now preparing to do requested changes. Page 18 of 20

19 21. Wizard will now perform installation and configuration. Wait until Next button is enabled. 22. Click on Next button to continue Page 19 of 20

20 23. On Completing Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Setup screen, click on Finish button. The installation is now done. You can click on summary log. Or surface configuration tools. Opening your SQL server management Studio now will list for you for the new created instance. Configuring Paymate Platinum to connect to database engine located on server If you wish to have data on a server, and access the data from independent workstations, each individual workstation must be configured according to the steps below. These steps MUST be done in order to be effective. 1. On the Server, launch Paymate Platinum or Right click and Run as Administrator for Windows Vista\Windows 7, and stop at the login screen 2. Click on the 'Database Options' button. 3. The 'Database Setup' box will be displayed. 4. Write down the EXACT string located in the 'Database Server Location' field. This is the location of your SQL Server instance, and will be required on the subsequent workstations. 5. On the subsequent workstations, you must then go to the 'Database Options' screen and input the EXACT string you noted in step Click on 'Test Connection'. If the message says 'Connection to Database Succeeded', you have properly configured the system. If the test fails, you must start over at step 1, and repeat until successful. Page 20 of 20
