3 Achievement Target (if more than one measurement tool, list target for each tool separately): First time assessing, getting a baseline from which to advance for both above listed outcomes Assessment Results/Findings (if more than one measurement tool, list results for each tool separately): 1492: From Practical: Density (both liquid and solid) Average grade assigned = 76% (collecting numerical data and calculating density) Qualitative analysis Average grade assigned = 81% (flame test, precipitation test and identification of compounds) **Chemical Reactions (Balancing and Naming) Average grade assigned = 67% 1810: From ACS final: 47% correct responses using 2010 version of ACS final 62% correct responses using 2002 version of ACS final 51% correct responses if using an average of all sections (112 students total, 560 responses to questions concerning the use of mathematical techniques to evaluate and solve scientific problems) Assessment Report Page 3 of 6 4/17/2012

The student learning outcomes for the area/program/discipline for the 5 year cycle. 3.
