Aspire Learning and Leadership academy Barcelona will meet its mission statement by: Committing to a structured quality program Ensuring staff are highly qualified through ongoing recruitment process and training. Delivering training to staff that emphasise strict education principles. Ensuring high standards are maintained and improved by continuous monitoring, reviewing and improving procedures. Ensuring the courses delivered by the college are designed and implemented with a commitment of meeting student s requirements. Ensuring that measurable and realistic quality objectives are established annually communicated to staff, evaluated, reviewed and revised as needed on a going basis. Ensuring compliance with relevant statutory and safety requirements. 3
4 To achieve and maintain a level of quality which enhances the college s reputation with students. Introduction The Quality Manual is a policy document addressing the issues of all aspects of quality involving Aspire Learning and Leadership academy Barcelona. Staff will have a full access to the Quality Manual which will be kept at reception with the Office Secretary. We feel, as an organisation, this is important so that all staff members are aware of the missions of Aspire Learning and Leadership academy Barcelona. Amendments to the Quality Manual are controlled and published by the Senior Management of the college. Any amendments thereafter will be made aware to staff members. Aspire Learning and Leadership academy Barcelona has developed and implemented this quality management system to demonstrate its ability to consistently provide training and education that meets student and statutory and regulatory requirements, and to address learning satisfaction through the effective application of the system. Aspire Learning and Leadership academy Barcelona accepts responsibility for the complete satisfaction of its learners. We exercise this responsibility through adequate training of our employees and total commitment to meeting and exceeding students learning requirements. Aspire Learning and Leadership academy Barcelona establishes, documents, implements, and maintains a quality management system and continually improves its effectiveness in accordance with the requirements of the ISO 9001 International Standard, which: determines the processes needed for the quality management system and their application throughout the college, determines the sequence and interaction of these processes, determines criteria and methods needed to ensure that both the operation and control of these processes are effective, ensures the availability of resources and information necessary to support the operation and monitoring of these processes, monitors, measures where applicable and analyzes these processes, Implement actions necessary to achieve planned results and continual improvement of these processes. Management The college-wide Quality improvement framework, activities and implantation of quality improvement activities handled by Principal (Internal Quality Assurer). Due to the size of the college college-wide quality improvements and specialised local processes are handled by the Principal. (See Appendix 1 for contact details) 4
5 Management Responsibility The responsibility of management is spread across Aspire Learning and Leadership academy Barcelona. Management Commitment Top management is committed to the development and implementation of a quality management system and will do so by: voicing to Aspire Learning and Leadership academy Barcelona the importance of meeting student, regulatory and statutory requirements carrying out management reviews ensuring the availability of resources maintaining a quality policy Policies and Procedures Policies are statements of general principles and intent Procedures provide operational details, which must be followed Hard copies of Policies and Procedures are held with Principal (Policy Folders 1, 2 & 3) and Faculty policies and procedures can be found in Student, Teacher and Staff handbook. Verification and Assessment Policy Purposes To promote learning and achievement by providing access to assessment and accreditation services within Aspire Learning and Leadership academy Barcelona, ensuring equality of opportunity for all learners within a clear framework of assessment, internal verification, moderation and standardisation. This policy supports two strategic aims of the College: To improve levels of student achievement at Aspire Learning and Leadership academy Barcelona; This policy supports the following statements that are made in the Aspire Learning and Leadership academy Barcelona Students agreement: Help the learner reach his/her potential as a student; Ensure that assessment and reviews are regularly carried out, are clear and provide constructive feedback 5
6 All courses are subject to the college procedure (Verification and Assessment Policy- Policy Folder) whether or not they are internally or externally moderated. The purpose of moderation/verification is to standardise quality across course team members. Quality Assurance Strategy Sample all the work of all the assessors by observation on at least one occasion per year Documentary evidence will be sampled more frequently All methods of assessment that are used will be sampled Sampling plan will be based on CAMERA (Candidates, Assessors, Methods of Assessment, Elements, Records, and Assessment Sites. Internal Quality Audit Curriculum areas and corporate services will be subject to independent internal auditing according to a College procedure which is approved by the Quality Management Team. Internal audit schedules shall be prepared annually by the Management Team, and provide for every curriculum programme at least once every four years. Unscheduled internal audits will be carried out when circumstances arise which, in the opinion of the Management Team, require further evidence of our performance in any area of activity to be obtained. In particular, the Management Team shall organise audits of learning programmes which fail to meet performance targets. Review of Quality Assurance Procedures All aspects of quality control within the College shall be kept under review by the Quality Management Team. The following quality assurance procedures shall be reviewed annually: o Programme Validation and Re-validation o Programme Review and Evaluation o Internal Verification o The Observation of Learning o Internal Quality Audit The Quality Management Team shall monitor performance in all curriculum and support areas, agree action plans for improvements with Section Heads and Support Managers and monitor progress with these action plans. The Quality Management Team shall meet monthly throughout the year and the Director of Learner Achievement shall be responsible for the administration of work. External Moderation External Moderation is the means by which Aspire Learning and Leadership academy Barcelona makes an external judgement on the quality of delivery and assessment practice within the College, thus enhancing the credibility of the awards and qualifications to learners. An external moderator is an expert appointed by Aspire Learning and Leadership academy Barcelona to check on aspects of our training, assessment and quality systems. 6
7 Nominations for appointment as external examiner are agreed by the faculty executive and faculty board and then forwarded for approval on a standard form requiring full details of the nominee's qualifications for the appointment. The nominations are considered by the Principal, the Academic Registrar and, for final College approval, by the Academic Board. The external moderator will visit the College every 6 months. External examiners are required to submit a report annually and are not paid if it is not received. A College standard form report is completed and sent directly to the Principal. The Principal reads all the reports and identifies any major issues. Reports then go to the programme team which decides what action to take on both major and minor issues. The examiners' reports, together with the response of the programme team then form part of the annual report on the programme. In addition, the Principal reports the issues he has identified and any subsequent action he has taken to the Academic Board. Staff Grievances and Appeals Procedures The Staff Grievance Procedure can be found in staff handbook Staff Appraisal Information with regards to staff appraisal can be found in staff handbook Student Disciplinary Procedure See Academic Misconduct Policy Student Assessment and Appeals Procedure Students can find this procedure in the Student Handbook, and a hard copy of procedure is keep with Principal and Administration Office has soft copy.
