Research 3,000 Technical experts 7 Global Research Centers across GE New Global Hub of Oil & Gas Technology Innovation GE s first industry specific Global Research Center (GRC) is currently being built in Oklahoma City, USA. Dedicated to oil and gas technologies, the facility will open with 130 full-time personnel, primarily advanced-degree scientists and engineers from a wide range of disciplines including mechanical, electrical and petroleum engineering; systems and software design; and geoscientists. These researchers will join GE s global network of 50,000 expert innovators who are working to solve some of the world s toughest challenges. One of our single largest investments, this new Center builds on $14 billion in GE Oil & Gas business investments globally since 2007 and represents yet another example of our commitment to building broad technical capabilities that can deliver productivity gains and foster innovation for customers and the industry. Construction on the 95,000 sq. ft. facility will begin in the spring of 2014, with the building expected to be completed and operational in The Center is intended to be a collaboration hub for both domestic and global customers, and will focus on accelerating mid- to later-stage oil and gas technologies developed in GE s Global Research labs, including production systems, well construction, water use optimization, CO 2 solutions and energy systems. 6 Building on a sound foundation A Turbomachinery company Developed a Service model Investing in the future Since 1994, GE Oil & Gas has invested around $1 billion to create and expand facilities around the world. We strive to continually improve our local presence, working closely with our customers while simultaneously bolstering our global supply chain capabilities to enable projects of any size at any location worldwide. The primary role of these new and expanded facilities is, of course, technology development. In the last five years, we have invested over $14 billion acquiring companies with specialty technologies that complement our growth strategy. We then continue investing internally to improve these technologies drawing on proven solutions across GE s high-tech portfolio to deliver design and performance gains not possible before the acquisitions. Our newest line of submersible pumps is a perfect example these already successful products are now benefiting from significant step-changes enabled by our experts in rotating equipment. This is a crucial advance for the emerging unconventionals market, and we are taking similar steps in all application areas across the industry. We are currently increasing capacity and machining capabilities for the next generation of MVBs and associated equipment. This investment comprises another 42,000 ft 2 of manufacturing floor space, including 21,000 ft 2 of new machining and 21,000 ft 2 for a state-of-the-art assembly line. Batam, Indonesia Manufacturing facility for vertical and horizontal subsea production trees, as well as a Learning and Technology Center. GE has invested more than $1 billion in Indonesia so far and has plans for another $300 million over the next five years to support local infrastructure development. To date, we have created 30 new jobs with plans for 50+ more over the next three years. Niteroi, Brazil In addition to the world-class logistics base, Niteroi is now a key development facility for flexible pipe technologies to meet the extremely challenging conditions of the Santos Basin. Recent investments have created 250 new jobs in the region. Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam This world-class center provides engineering, manufacturing and service for subsea equipment with 350ºF and 15,000 psi operating capabilities and extensive features to optimize the total lifecycle value of key oil and gas projects. To date we ve created 41 new jobs and expect to add 200 more over the next few years.
