The Moselle Bike Trail Spend your bicycle vacation in the most famous wine growing region of Germany along one of the most beautiful rivers. Admire the "Kaiserthermen" (Emperor s hot springs) and the Porta Nigra - historical buildings of first rank in the Roman city of Trier. By bike you reach famous towns like Bernkastel Kues, Traben Tarbach, Cochem, Neumagen Dhron (the oldest German wine town) and Enkirch, a jewel of the regional medieval "Fachwerk" (Tudor style) architecture. Visit Castle Eltz and enjoy romantic stretches on your ride. In the evening you find pleasure in regional delicacies brought to you by select restaurants. And don t fail to taste the art of the local winegrowers!

2 1. day Arrival in Trier Individual arrival to Trier. There is plenty to see, you should travel early. There You should take your time for the visit of the historical centre, the Kaiserthermen (imperial thermal baths) and the Porta Nigra.Arrival possible by German railway. If you arrive by car there a parking site. The rental bikes will be at the hotel, if booked. 2. day Trier - Trittenheim 40 km You leave Germans oldest town and cycle along the Moselle, where the old ferry tower of Schweich is located. Marvel at the small wine-growing village Mehring with the famous Villa Rustica, a ruin, that was in Roman times a magnificent country house. In the afternoon you reach Trittenheim. Today we recommend a tasting with cellar visitation and vintager snack (please book in advance).

3 3. day Trittenheim - Zeltingen 36 km After a few kilometers you reach Neumagen-Dhron, the oldest wine-growing town in Germany. Compelte your programme of today with a boat tour on the Moselle. After a break in Enkirch, the role model of framework architecture, you reach Zell. 5. day Zell - Treis-Karden 47 km Today you cycle via Beilstein, the Rothenburg on the Moselle to Cochem. Leave the bike path and visit the picturesque center and the old Reichsburg (11th century). This is really worth it! Take the time to visit the castle, because the last 12 km of your bike ride to the hotel in Treis-Karden are easy to get around. 6. day Treis Karden - Koblenz 42 km In the morning, lures a detour (4 km) to the medieval Eltz Castle, one of the most beautiful and best preserved castles in Germany. Wonderfull, romantically situated and embedded in an original nature, it acts like a fairytale castle, inviting and majestic at the same time. Take part in an informal castle tour, discover the treasure chamber and enjoy the magnificent view. Afterwards you cycle back to the Moselle cycle path. This proudly presents you once again typical Moselle wine regions such as Kobern-Gondorf and Winningen. In Koblenz at the Deutsches Eck the Moselle flows into the Rhine and so you spend the last evening of your bike trip on the Mosel and the Rhine. 7. day Koblenz Departure After breakfast your nice cycle holiday ends in Koblenz. We recommend our transfer service to Trier (Departure 9 a.m., duration about 2 hrs. - prebooking is necessary).

We recommend to take a taxi from the station to get to our partner hotels in Trier. Sometimes even free of charge, for the entire duration of your bike trip. There are always plenty of parking spots available, pre-reservation is not always necessary. Condition of cycle paths The quality of the bike tail is very good. There are practical no unpaved or poorly developed path. The route runs almost exclusively on paved roads and is very well signposted. The volume of traffic varies, but between Trier and Cochem there is almost always a seperate bike trail on the right or left shore side, off the main road. Only during your last day you have to cycle a section on a wide bicycle lane next to the main road. Detailed information about which shore side is best to cycle on, you will receive together with the detailed travel documents two weeks prior to departure. Available rental bikes If you choose to rent a velocipede-rental bike for the tour, we take it to your first hotel and bring pick it up at your destination. You can choose between woman s and men's bicycles either with 7-speed gear shift and coaster brake or 21-speed gear shift and freewheel or electric bikes. All ladies' bikes have a low opening that makes mounting and dismounting much easier. The bikes are suitable for all ladies from 150 cm in height and for all gentlemen from 165 cm in height. You simply specify your wishes at time of booking.available rental bikes Transfer back to the starting point of the journey Daily at 9am there is the possibility to transfer back to Trier with a small bus (with bike trailer). Arrival at 11am. The driver comes to pick you up at your hotel and has much room for you, your luggage and where required your own bicycle. The bus takes you back to your first hotel, thus ensuring a perfect return service without transfer and the hassle of hauling luggage. Train and bus in the Moselle Valley In the Moselle Valley runs not always a train. After Trier the train is leaving the Moselle Valley and the nearest station is not before Bullay. After only a few kilometres, the railway disappears in the Kaiser-Wilhelm-Tunnel and only reappears in Cochem. From Cochem the

5 train runs completely in the Moselle Valley to Koblenz.In the period from a bus operates daily between Trier and Bullay with a max. capacity of 22 bicycles.bus schedule information Boat trips on the river Moselle From April to October there are many passenger ships on the Moselle.
