3 What is BREEAM In-Use? Environmental assessment method for existing non-domestic buildings. Easy-to-use assessment methodology and independent certification process On-going assessment method for continual improvements. Help improve environmental performance and building management

4 Why is BREEAM In-Use important? Majority of global building stocks made up of existing buildings, major opportunity to reduce their environmental impact. Allows assessment of buildings at: 1. Asset level 2. Building management level 3. Occupier level, providing an overall picture of environmental performance. Assists in identifying parts of a property portfolio/building that are underperforming and may require refurbishment.

10 Weightings & Star Ratings BREEAM In-Use Star Ratings, which vary between 1-6. <10% UNCLASSIFIED - >10% ACCEPTABLE >25% PASS >40% GOOD >55% VERY GOOD >70% EXCELLENT >85% OUTSTANDING

11 Verified / Unverified Outputs Once the questionnaire is completed, a final score is generated by category and part This unverified data outlines: 1. How the asset is performing, 2. Highlights areas for improvement 3. Can be used to manage performance These outputs can then be certified with the use of a BREEAM In-Use licensed Assessor The Assessor conducts an audit of the information and evidence that has been provided and ensures it meets the BREEAM In-Use standard Once verified, a certification can be requested by the assessor

13 Certificate Renewal Certificates are valid for a period of one year If no significant changes have been made, Part 1 and Part 2 certificates can be renewed 2 years (following initial certification) If significant changes have been made, recertification must be undertaken to maintain certificated Part 3 certificates requires annual recertification Recertification shows on-going commitment to BREEAM In-Use and allows for benchmarking and comparison

14 Introduction to the BREEAM In-Use Online System The BREEAM In-Use online system is used to: Assess an asset using the BREEAM In-Use questionnaire Group assets into common building portfolios to allow comparisons View a dynamic scoring platform Request BREEAM In-Use certification Key Performance Indicators Compare portfolio performance

15 Fees Registration and asset measurement fee: 190 Certification fee: 250 per part Assessor fee: variable Client examination fee: 75 Assessor training course fee: 995 Certificate renewal fee: 50 per certificate
