1 Product family monitoring Monitoring are required to minimize downtimes of relevant loads. The integrated relay of the PLFuse fuse monitor allows selective fault signals of relevant loads to be relayed to a control centre. Optical fault indication ensures that the defective fuse is rapidly localized on site. The voltage measuring range, AC400V to AC690V, enable a rapid engineering and safe exchange of output strips with fuse monitoring in the low voltage system. 3 Powerlizer system electronics monitoring fuse monitor PLFuse fuse monitor Product Definition The PLFuse electronic fuse monitor is a single unit for remote installation on mounting rails in low voltage systems. It allows a continuous monitoring of the fuse state and its relaying via potential-free relay contacts. This minimizes downtimes of relevant loads and reduces consequential damages. The fuse monitor provides a phase-related selective optical indication of 1-pole, 2-pole and 3-pole fuse failure. A bright red LED ensures that the fuse concerned is easily localized in the low voltage system. Applications The PLFuse electronic fuse monitor is used for continuous fuse monitoring in 3-phase low voltage networks. It is available as preassembled unit or fitted in SASIL products, disconnectors and SL strips from JEAN MÜLLER. The potential-free relay contacts of the fuse monitor allow the make/break contacts to be designed for individual or centralized fault indication as required. Operational principle Permanent voltage measurements above the individual fuse are used for a clear analysis of the fuse state. If the differential voltage above the fuse is exceedingly high, the fuse is analyzed as being faulty and the corresponding LED as well as a relay with potential-free contacts are activated. The reaction time is delayed due to the short relay response time. Product construction The plastic case of the PLFuse fuse monitor is designed for mounting on DIN and C rails. Since the PLFuse fuse monitor can be fitted to any mounting location in a power distribution system, it allows any fuse to be monitored by means of voltage taps. The voltage taps and relay contacts are contacted via screw terminals. No fuse failure is indicated in the event of network disconnection or phase failure. 15-2
