3 Master s in Anatomy and Histology Course Description Anatomy of Upper & lower Limbs 3 credit hours This course includes gross anatomy of the upper limb and lower limb of human body which covers bones, joints and muscles (origin, insertion, functions) in addition to blood vessels and nerves and their clinical applications. Also with concentration on the practical aspects and skills in dissection of the upper and lower limbs Anatomy of Thorax, Abdomen & Pelvis 3 credit hours This course includes gross anatomy of the chest, abdomen, pelvis and perineum of human body which covers study the thoracic cage, the vertebrae, the muscles of chest, abdomen and pelvis (origin, insertion nerve supply, and functions) in addition to study of the structure of the viscera in the chest, abdomen and pelvis and blood vessels and nerves and their clinical applications. Also with concentration on the practical aspects and skills in dissection of the thorax, abdomen & pelvis Advanced Human Embryology 3 credit hours This course concern with the origin and development of a human being from a zygote to the birth of an infant. The stages of development that occur before birth are discussed with concentration on the human congenital anomalies (clinical embryology) and also concentrate on the experimental embryology Anatomy of Head & Neck 3 credit hours This course includes gross anatomy of the head and neck of human body which covers bones and muscles (origin, insertion, nerve supply and functions) in addition to blood vessels and nerves and their clinical applications. Also with concentration on the practical aspects and skills in dissection of the head and neck Neuroanatomy 3 credit hours This course includes advanced gross and microscopic anatomy of the central nervous system (brain & spinal cord) and peripheral nervous system (spinal & cranial nerves) and their clinical applications. Also with concentration on the practical aspects and the new development on the nervous system Advanced systemic Histology 3 credit hours This course includes advanced microscopic structure of organs and systems of the human body: Digestive system, Respiratory system, Cardiovascular system, Endocrine system, Urinary system, male reproductive system and Female reproductive system. Also with

4 concentration on the recent practical techniques for preparation and processing of specimens for light and electron microscopy Diagnostic Molecular Biology 3 credit hours DNA cloning, analysis DNA sequences, gene mapping, gene transfer and expression, tissue culture, expression profiling (genouics and protcomics), Gene therapy, detection of minimal residual disease, drug discovery, stem cell research Cell & Mollecular Physiology 3 credit hours This course is designed to introduce the student to the concepts of advanced cellular and molecular physiology. Dealing with mechanical action of all the body system at the level off the cell and mollecule. Physiological changes as a result of specific diseases will be discussed and compared with the corresponding normal physiology. Also concentration on specific organ of body system in relation to specific diseases will be covered Cytology 3 credit hours Molecular basis for cell structure and function. Methodology and modern technology for study of cells. Molecular composition and function of cell membranes. Internal cell organization and synthesis of large molecules like proteins. Structure of cell surface. Intercellular communication and role of hormones and receptors. Cytoskeleton. Intracellular transport. Cell motion and contractile activity. Molecular and cellular basis for cancer. Cell ageing and cell death Biostatistics 3 credit hours Organization and summarization of data, sampling methods and sampling distributions, statistical inference (binomial, Poisson, normal x2, t and f), sampling methods and distributions estimation and hypotheses about means, proportions and variances based on large and small samples, analysis of variance (one-way, two-way, factorial designs, latin square) regression analysis (simple and multiple), Chi-square tests, nonparametric methods and correlation coefficient Health policies and public health law 3 credit hours This course deals with the concept of health-relation between health and social services. Health standards, health planning, policy of health development. Policy of management of health resources. Policy of development of health man power. Public health laws. Medical committees regulations. Organ transplant law, International agreements concerning health. Environmental health law. Biomedical ethics Pathology 3 credit hours

5 This course deals with abnormal changes that affect body cells, tissues and organs; and the general effect of such changes on the body. It also covers means of diagnosis, obtaining processing and staining of samples Special Topics in Physiology 3 credit hours This course covers special topics in physiology which includes the Cell, Renal, cardiovascular, Respiratory, Endocrine, and Neuro-Physiology at an advanced level emphasizing most general Physiologic Concepts. The course is structured to cover special subjects utilizing the most appropriate organ system to develop the Physiologic concepts and get an idea on the research fields. Lecture, discussion and seminar formats will be utilized as appropriate for acquisition of knowledge, critical thinking, and articulation of ideas required for successful completion of master degree in Anatomy.
