1 Sarah Ilana Sadavoy Curriculum Vitae Address: Max-Planck-Institut für Astronomie Königstuhl , Heidelberg, Germany Phone: Education University of Victoria University of Victoria York University PhD (Astronomy) MSc (Astronomy) BSc Honours (Physics & Astronomy) Sept July 2013 Sept Aug Sept April 2007 Professional Appointments Postdoctoral Fellow, Max-Planck-Institut für Astronomie, Heidelberg Germany Oct Oct Research Interests I am interested in the earliest stages of star formation, such as the fragmentation processes of molecular clouds into dense prestellar cores, the dust and gas chemistry of molecular clouds, the formation and evolution of protostars, and the differences between low-mass and highmass star formation. To explore these processes, I use continuum, spectral line emission, and polarimetry observations in the infrared, (sub)millimeter, and radio bands. Referreed Contributions I. (including Sadavoy, S.), 2008, ATel, 1803, 1 Other Significant Contributions Gould Belt Survey (GBS) Teams I am a member of the Herschel and JCMT Gould Belt Legacy Survey teams. These teams have excellent synergy to explore the physical and dynamical nature of the earliest stages of star formation through continuum observations in the submillimeter (SCUBA-2 and SPIRE) and farinfrared (PACS), and molecular line emission (HARP). Herschel OB Young Stars (HOBYS) Team As a member of the HOBYS group, I have explored the processes that drive massive star formation. Through HOBYS, I was able to work with early Herschel data for the Rosette Molecular Cloud and examine the distribution of starless and star-forming clumps in the region. Department Service I served as the department representative in the Graduate Student Society from January February I also served as the graduate student representative for the UVic Physics and Astronomy Colloquium committee from September April At the MPIA, I organize the star formation journal club (from October 2014). Teaching I have been a lab-instructor for undergraduate Astronomy courses from September April For each class, I provided a short lecture and assisted students with the experiment. Public Outreach I enjoy public outreach, such as Ask the Astronomer booths, observatory tours, and public talks. For the International Year of Astronomy, I organized several astronomy-themed lantern displays for a local festival. I also volunteered for the Canadian Association for Girls in Science. Observatory Coordinator I was the undergraduate student coordinator for York University s Astronomical Observatory from September 2004 to August I arranged the observatory schedule and trained team members on the operation of the university telescopes as well as data reduction and analysis. 5
