2 Welcome or Beinvenido To the Official Guidelines for the women s costumes for the Spirit of Cigar City Krewe. Please keep in mind when you are choosing and putting together your costume that we are a Parade Krewe. We are on display to thousands of parade goers, often being judged and/or televised. Please try to make you costume as tasteful as possible. We want you to show off and have fun, so please add your personal touches. We hope that these designs will offer you the opportunity to be versatile and will be comfortable to wear as well as be great to look at and display the Spirit of our Krewe. Our costume theme will be Latin in flavor; hopefully capturing the essence of Ybor City and Tampa by focusing on its rich, ethnic background and colorful history. We have listed websites, pattern numbers and pictures to help you with your costume selection. If you have any questions regarding your costume, please contact Francesca Gardner (francescag6767@aol.com) or Irma Lupo (slupo73080@aol.com) Please Note: For the St Patrick s Parade in Ybor City ONLY Krewe members and guests are permitted to wear St Patrick s hats, green shirts (shirts must be in compliance with current costume guidelines) and other St. Patrick accessories. ***Spirit of Cigar City Krewe members who are not in costume compliance during parades may be subject to fine(s), removal from parade route, membership suspension and/or membership termination.***

3 Women s Costume Options Style #1 FLAMENCO DRESS

4 This dress can either be a full dress or skirt with matching top. However, these should conform to the Flamenco type of materials. Approved colors of the outfit include the following: Polka Dots Solids Floral This pattern will require the approval of the costume committee on the design prior to parade season Mix of both (Polka dots and solids) Halter bodysuit allowed We ask for tasteful suit No over exposure of body One shoulder leotard with flamenco body suit only (If you are unsure about this, please bring to the costume committee for approval) Body suit color with matching flamenco skirt Flamenco bodysuit style MUST have ankle length skirt with it Acceptable Style Shoe o Mary Jane o Flamenco Dance Shoes o Flat Black Shoes with or without straps Approved Accessories with the outfit include the following: Bolero style hat NO FEATHERS Hair Combs NO FEATHERS Fans Bling, Pins, Etc. Spaghetti straps MUST be covered by a shawl We encourage you to wrap a shawl around your waist. This can be any color or print. Not Approved: Feathers in hair or hats No flip-flops, sandals or open toed shoes allowed during parade Holiday prints

9 One Piece Peasant Dress Solid colors of red, white, and black ONLY (similar to the Gauchos) Ankle length or mid-calf dress Top of dress may be with or without ruffles Mary Jane or Flamenco dance shoes ONLY Tweed classic Cuban style fedora hat Color MUST be the same as the peasant dress We encourage you to wrap a shawl around your waist. This can be any color or print. 14 Women s Costume Option #3 Cuban Culottes

15 Cuban Culottes are similar to gauchos style pants. They should fall below the knee and must be black in color. Costume Requirements: Black vest or bolero jacket with SCC Krewe approved logo on back Either black culottes or black straight legged dress slacks/pants Knee high black boots with culottes ONLY Culottes & pants MUST cover the top of the boots **NOTE: Pants are not allowed to be tucked into the boots** Optional: Wearing pants, a comfortable black close-toed shoe may be worn. However, pants MUST cover the shoe. In Lieu of name tag The Costume Committee has approved your name to be embroidered on front (left or heart side) of the black vest or bolero jacket - Gotcha Covered $10.00 Approved Shirts: o Suggested materials are silks, velvets, satin, etc. o Must be a long or ¾ sleeve tuxedo, ruffled or collared (Button-up or Zip up) style shirt o APPROVED COLORS ONLY RED BLACK WHITE Accessorize with: Solid color sashes and/or cummerbunds ONLY Bolero style hat NO FEATHERS Trim vest and/or jacket with any decorative trim

17 Non-Costume Parades for Krewe Members Approved Apparel: Town & Country Veteran s Parade Historic Holiday Parade Children s Gasparilla Parade Approved Red Shirt (long or short sleeve) with SCC Krewe logo on back Black/Blue denim jeans SCC approved hats Women are permitted to wear men s approved hats Comfortable close toed shoes/boots/sneakers Approved Outerwear: Black sweatshirt with/without hood with SCC Krewe logo on back Black satin baseball jacket w/scc Krewe logo on back Rain gear (clear poncho/jacket with clear hat cover) Exposed mid-drifts, low riders Not Approved: Altering of the Krewe t-shirts in any way Flip flops, sandals or any open toed shoes Shorts, capris or skirts Discipline for members not in proper costume: Minimum Discipline Action: 1 st Offense Placed on the float and assigned bar duty (will not participate in the parade) 2 nd Offense Asked to leave current parade; Fine (to be determined by Executive Board); Suspension from following parade 3 rd Offense Asked to leave current parade; Fine (to be determined by Executive Board); Minimum three (3) month suspension from Krewe
