3 Surveyor Plus HPLC System Configurable to Meet Your Needs The modular design of the Thermo Scientific Surveyor Plus HPLC provides versatility and flexibility to overcome the analytical challenges of the modern laboratory. Pumps The Thermo Scientific Surveyor HPLC pump provides smooth, precise quaternary gradients required for analytical and narrow bore chromatography. An optional mass spectrometry (MS) pump is optimized for ultra-high performance at the lower flow rate required by MS instruments. Both the LC and MS pumps feature integrated degassers and quaternary low pressure mixing. Autosampler Thermo Scientific Autosampler technology features temperature-controlled sample trays, injection valve, and integrated column oven to maintain sample integrity before and during analysis. Method development is easily optimized using one of the multiple injection modes which include full loop, partial loop, and no waste. Detectors Thermo Scientific UV/Vis and PDA detectors feature patented LightPipe technology, providing up to five times the sensitivity of conventional flow cells. The UV/Vis is a dual-channel detector accommodating either standard or LightPipe flow cells for a wide range of concentrations, from high levels to trace chemical analysis. The PDA collects and displays three simultaneous channels concurrent with 3-D spectral data for sample identification and automated purity analysis. Application flexibility can be easily increased with the integration of the Surveyor Fluorescence FL Plus and Refractive Index RI Plus detectors. Add the Thermo Scientific Surveyor MSQ Plus mass spectrometer to complement PDA data for the rapid identification and mass confirmation of chromatographic peaks.

4 Multiple Detection Options LightPipe flow cell Sensitivity PDA Plus Detection with Patented LightPipe Technology The Thermo Scientific Surveyor PDA Plus detector has up to five times the sensitivity of conventional photodiode array detectors. This is achieved by using our patented LightPipe technology, which provides a 5 cm optical path length at a cell volume of only 10 µl. The unique flow path maintains the integrity of the peak shape as it travels through the flow cell to subsequent detectors. Along with unbeatable sensitivity, the fiber optic beam shaper in the Surveyor PDA Plus offers absorbance measurements with excellent spectral resolution and increased throughput over the entire wavelength range of nm. The pre-aligned deuterium and tungsten lamps ensure high spectral intensities for high signal-to-noise absorbance measurements, while the high data rate of 20 Hz at 1 nm wavelength increments provides excellent spectral and time resolution for fast chromatography and high-speed high throughput screening (HTS) applications. The Surveyor PDA Plus ensures wavelength accuracy with an integrated filter cuvette filled with a calibrated holmium oxide solution for validation over the entire UV/Vis spectrum. 5 Fluorescence (FL) Detection The Thermo Scientific Surveyor FL Plus is a highly sensitive fluorescence detector specifically designed for trace level analysis. This detector incorporates a unique flowcell design and scanning optics for superior peak shape and sensitivity as illustrated below. Refractive Index (RI) Detection The easy-to-use Thermo Scientific Surveyor RI Plus detector is designed for the detection of compounds such as carbohydrates, alcohols, fatty acids, and other compounds having weak chromophores. The Surveyor RI Plus detector can be used in tandem with a programmable UV or photodiode array detector providing a seamless integration into the Surveyor Plus HPLC System. This RI detector increases application flexibility with 21 CFR Part 11 compliance using ChromQuest software control and data analysis. Unbeatable peak shape and sensitivity down to the picogram level using Fluorescence detection and a 3 µm Hypersil GOLD column on a series of carcinogens Integrated software control provides unlimited independent excitation and emission wavelength step changes.
