Communication Framework Ensure SAAS has an integrated and effective internal and external strategic communications framework with supporting policies achieved by the following activities: > Develop and implement a strategic and integrated communication structure and function for SAAS with supporting policies and frameworks. > Develop a communications and marketing plan and provide advice and assistance to achieve high quality publicity and promotions outcomes consistent with the organisation s direction, objectives and initiatives. > Ensure an effective media liaison function conveys an accurate and positive image of the organisation s activities to the public in proactive and 3 of 10

Engagement, Stakeholder Relationships & Support Provide strategic advice to SAAS in the delivery of a comprehensive range of marketing, internal and external communications, media and stakeholder and staff engagement strategies. Achieved by the following activities: > Identify the internal and external politics that impact the organisation to inform an understanding of the political context in which various communication strategies will be implemented. > Initiate and maintain networks throughout the organisation, SA Health and government including liaising with the Strategic Engagement and Communications Unit of the Department of Premier and Cabinet, SA Health Media and Communications Branch and the Office of the Minister for Health. > Support internal units to develop and implement specific communications and engagement strategies for projects and initiatives that are patient/customer focussed and consistent with the organisation s and governments overall strategic approach. > Lead the development of stakeholder engagement plans for key stakeholders. > Manage media and internal communications strategies on complex and controversial issues. > Identify and manage emerging communication related issues across SAAS in a proactive and timely manner. 4 of 10

7 Strategic Communications Social Media and Community Engagement Technical Counter Disaster Activities Ensure the effective delivery of significant, state-wide or critical, strategic communications programs that meet the organisation s stated objectives: Achieved by the following activities: > Ensure the cost effectiveness of corporate marketing and public relations activities by identifying, managing and evaluating allocated resources based upon required outcomes. > Ensure the effective acquisition and utilisation of human, financial and physical resources. > Balance innovation and creativity whilst ensuring consistency and maximising effectiveness in communication across SAAS. > Provide active support as required to Incident Management and Emergency Response events. Develop and maintain an effective social media presence with a specific focus on: > Establishing dynamic connections with the broader community > Timely dissemination of relevant messages > Reputation management > Emergency information management > Current and relevant interactive medium for internal and external stakeholders. Ensure the Communications and Strategic Engagement Unit provides a high quality technical consultancy service that meets the organisation s needs and objectives. Achieved by the following activities: > Provide leadership and management to a team of communications and marketing professionals to ensure they deliver high quality technical advice and assistance to internal customers on advertising, marketing, communications, media and promotional strategies. > Foster a culture of performance and professionalism in order to lead a team to meet performance outcomes, including responsibility for direction, advice and performance management of the team. > Develop and implement project and program plans to achieve organisational goals and objectives relating to communication. > Develop and maintain processes to gain feedback and monitor client satisfaction and project outcomes. 8 Occupational Health Safety & Welfare Managers are responsible for Corporate Communication teams to undertake effective WHS supervision and other measures to ensure compliance with the SAAS WHS management system, safe work practices and other identified health, safety or welfare requirements. Achieved by the following activities: Legislation > Ensure that all staff under your control, comply with the SAAS WHS Management System. Accountability > Disseminate WHS information to staff relevant to the specific work hazards in the area. > Conduct induction and ensure staff receives other relevant training so they can demonstrate their WHS responsibilities (includes: hazards within the workplaces, safe operating procedures, use and maintenance of PPE and safety equipment and emergency response procedures). > Supervise relevant WHS aspects of work undertaken by staff within your area of responsibility. > Facilitate consultative processes regarding OHS&W issues between management and staff. Risk management > Undertake, or ensure the identification and evaluation of hazards and recommend appropriate corrective actions. > Undertake investigations of hazards and incidents arising and maintain appropriate documentation of corrective actions. > Facilitate the reporting of workplace hazards to the person(s) who can implement corrective action. > Oversee the implementation of corrective action and ensure their effectiveness. > Assist with the development of WHS procedures for management of risks specific to your work area. 6 of 10
