1 HERTZ INTERNATIONAL Inbound Canada Tour Programs Terms and Conditions January 1, 2010 December 31, 2010 Rental Qualifications Minimum rental age is 21 (age differential charge for applies) for car groups A, B, C, C4, D, E4, F, F6, G, I, L, R, Q4 & U; all other car groups minimum rental age is 25. The age differential is $27CDN/day for car groups A, B, C, C4, D, E4, F, F6 & Q4 and $37CDN/day for car groups G, I, L, R, & U. Minimum age and age differential charges may differ by location. Renters including Additional Authorized operators, must present a valid national driver s license, voucher (unless voucherless), and a credit card in the renter s name. The minimum age for additional authorized operators is the same as noted above for the authorized operator. Domestic Canada - Cash Will No Longer Be Accepted as a Form of Deposit. All Major Credit Cards Will Continue to Be Accepted at Time of Rental. **Note this does NOT include debit cards with major credit card logos** International Renters including Additional Authorized operators, must present a valid national driver s license, voucher (unless voucherless), a credit card in the renter s name. Please be advised that certain locations and classes of car require 3 forms of identification as a condition to rent. Please advise customers to check at time of reservation if special conditions pertain to their particular rental. All rentals are subject to Hertz standard rental requirements at time of rental. If any provision of this agreement conflicts with applicable national or local law, or if such law imposes different or additional requirements applicable to the rights or obligations of the parties hereunder, then the provisions of such law imposes different or additional requirements applicable to the rights or obligations of the parties hereunder, then the provisions of such law shall apply to the extent necessary to comply therewith. Rates & Vouchers A daily rate is based on 24 hours. Hertz allows a 29 minute grace period. Clients will be charged directly for additional hours, days and any additional coverage purchased at the commencement of the rental. Minimum rental period is 48 hours. Rates are based on pick up date and not return date. Vouchers are valid for 62 days. Tour Operators will be charged for the number of days printed on the voucher or if a voucherless program, the number of days booked by the Tour Operator, irrespective of the number of days the customer actually rents. (Voucher days equal number of reservation days). If a client returns the car early, the Tour Operator will be charged at the voucher value or if voucherless, the number of days reserved. Exceptions, such as medical emergencies, death in family, etc will be handled subsequently by customer relations. Tour rates cannot be combined with CDP#, discounts or promotions.
2 Advance Reservation Requirements Reservations require a minimum 8 hour advance reservation, either by telephone, GDS, fax, or link and must include the applicable program IT#. Neverlost reservations require a 24-hour advanced reservation. These reservations will be automatically confirmed by car class only. Specific models cannot be guaranteed. Mileage Caps Please see attached participating locations list for specific details. Free Sell Agreement Standard Car Classes: A, B, C, D and F are on freesell with a minimum 48-hour advance reservation at all corporate locations. During the peak season of July 1 and September 7, 2010 a 72-hour advance reservation is required. Specialty Car Classes: G, I, R, L and Q4 and are on freesell with a minimum seven (7)-day advance reservation at all corporate locations. During the peak season of July 1 and September 7, 2010 a (14) day advance reservation is required. If reservations are not booked and confirmed by Hertz within the guidelines set (i.e. less than 3 or 7 days notice), reservations for these car classes A, B, C, D, F, G, I, L, R & Q4 will be based on availability. Please Note: Freesell Is Not Available: From December 18 31, 2010, Christmas peak. On all car classes in Halifax between July 1 September 7, 2010, Summer Peak On car classes U, T, & T6. At any licensee locations. Certain car classes may not be available at all locations. Please check at time of reservation for availability as the freesell policy will not override fleet availability. Vehicle Availability Hertz reserves the right, at its own discretion to a capacity control in any location, at any time, and for specific programs, according to vehicle availability, demand levels, and/or program performance. In addition, all car classes may not be available in all locations at all times.
3 One Way Rentals One-way rates are available and apply to rentals of 2 or more days only. Car classes C, C4, E4, F, and F6 are allowed to go one way at corporate and participating licensee locations (see attached drop matrix for details and rates). Car classes G, I, L, R, T, T6 & Q4 are allowed to go one way at corporate locations only. Car classes A, B & D must be returned to the renting city. Guaranteed drop charges are paid locally by clients directly to Hertz. This charge will be held against the customer s credit card but will not be charged to the card until the completion of the rental. These charges are subject to applicable taxes. One-way rentals within the same city may cause a drop off fee. Please check at time of reservation. Refer to attached drop matrix for further drop fee information and Canada to US eligibility. Car classes B, C & F are allowed to intercity between Canada and US. Please refer to drop matrix for more detailed information. Driving Restrictions Hertz vehicles can be driven into the USA but not Mexico. Special Canada to USA intercity fees are available if a customer wishes to drop the car in the USA. Please refer to intercity drop chart attached for available USA drop locations and fee information Additional Authorized Drivers: Additional authorized drivers -- including spouses and partners -- must be registered on the rental agreement. There is an extra charge for each additional authorized driver of $13.00 CDN per day, with a maximum charge of $65.00 CDN per person (AAO) per rental. The minimum age for additional authorized operators is the same as noted above for the authorized operator. This may vary by location. Please check the location policy for specific details. Fuel: Each car is provided with a full tank of gas at time of rental. Rates do not include fuel unless specifically indicated. The renter is responsible for refueling at the end of the rental if the Hertz Fuel Purchase Option is not purchased by the client at time of rental or included in the net rates. There is no credit for remaining fuel. Rates inclusive of the FPO option are not available at any licensee locations.
4 Loss Damage Waiver: LDW is a optional service that holds the renter or authorized driver s responsible only for the deductible amount, if any, for loss of or damage to the rental vehicle, if the vehicle is used in accordance with the terms and conditions of the rental contract. If LDW is not purchased, the renter will be responsible regardless of fault for the full value of the vehicle at the time of rental, less its salvage value, plus expenses for towing, storage, impound fees, an administrative charge, and a reasonable charge for loss of use. By purchasing LDW, at a price of approximately $27.95 per day, the renter will be responsible for the following deductible: $500 deductible for all renters at corporate locations. By purchasing the deductible waiver (DW), customers can reduce their deductible to $0.00. Liability Protection: When the rental vehicle is used in accordance with all the terms and conditions of the rental agreement, Hertz provides with the standard provisions of a basic automobile liability insurance policy, coverage of at least minimum provincial statutory limits for bodily injury or death and property damage for the customer s legal liability to others including passengers. Liability Protection up to a single limit of CAD 1 million per accident for bodily injury or property damage combined is included. (PAI) & Personal Effects Coverage (PEC): Personal Accident Insurance allows customer to elect accidental death and accidental medical expense coverage for the renter and passengers during the rental period of the vehicle. If this coverage is accepted, the benefits for the renter will apply to all accidental injuries during the rental period regardless of whether the renter is actually in the car. Passengers are also covered, but only for incidents occurring while the occupying the car. Personal Effects Coverage is an option that insures against risk of loss or damage to help protect the customer s personal belongings while renting from Hertz. PEC insurance coverage includes those personal effects owned by the customer and those traveling with the customer. Limits of persons and values covered do apply. Note: This information is only a summary of the coverage s provided by the PAI & PEC packages. Each is subject to terms and conditions, and there may be exclusions limiting coverage and amounts payable. Please ask a rental representative for any additional information. All terms and conditions to the above liability and supplemental coverage s (i.e. LDW & PAI and PEC) are subject to change without notice and may differ by location. *Please Note: PAI/PEC is not available at any Alberta locations. Taxes & Surcharges: Government surcharges, taxes, tax reimbursement and optional items such as refueling or additional drivers fees are payable to Hertz at time of rental, unless specifically included and noted in the rates. Taxes and other fees are subject to change without notice.
5 Provincial Sales Tax (PST) & Goods and Services Tax (GST): Provincial Sales Tax varies by Province. The Harmonized Sales Tax (HST) is used in certain provinces to combine the federal Goods and Services Tax (GST) and the Provincial Sales Tax (PST) into a single, blended, sales tax. See chart below. N/A NW Territories... 5%... N/A Nova Scotia... 13%... N/A Nunavut... 5%... N/A Ontario... 5%... 8% PEI... 5%... 10% Quebec... 5% % Saskatchewan.. 5%... 5% Yukon Territory.. 5%... N/A Parking Fee This fee is to reimburse Hertz for the high cost of parking at certain downtown locations. Following are a list of downtown locations in both Toronto and Montreal where the $10.00 fee applies Toronto (Union, The Bay, Eglinton) and Montreal ( IBM Aylmer). The $10.00 fee is automatically applied at the Hertz location at time of rental and is payable directly to Hertz. This mandatory charge is not part of CAA Pre-paid program inclusions. ** Fees and locations are subject to change without notice** Concession Fee Recovery (CFR): This fee is to reimburse Hertz for concession fee recovery required to operate at airports and other locations. This fee varies by location and is charged for each rental. Vehicle Licensing Fee (VLF): This fee is for Hertz s recovery of the proportionate amount of the vehicle licensing fees applicable to the rental. VLF is levied to all customers at all Canadian locations and varies by city. Air Conditioning Surcharge Recovery (ACSR): Vehicle manufacturers pay a federal excise tax on all air conditioners installed in vehicles and pass this cost on to Hertz as a separately stated fee. The ACSR is for Hertz s recovery of this fee. Currently at Hertz Corporate locations this fee is $1.00 CDN per rental day or partial day. This fee is taxable and concessionable.
6 Tax For Fuel Conservation (TFFC): A tax for fuel conservation is applied to all rentals originating in Ontario. This tax is on a per day charge and subject to GST and PST. The TFFC is based on specific model of car not the car group. The daily charge ranges up to $4.44 CDN per day. Passenger Vehicle Rental Tax (PVRT): Rentals originating in British Columbia are subject to a charge of $1.50 CDN per day. Luxury Tax: This tax is only applicable in British Columbia on Car Class G & I and ranges from 1-3% depending on the vehicle value. Customer Facility Charge: A bylaw has been issued which states that every person that enters into a rental agreement with an on airport operator to rent shall pay to the Calgary airport a daily Customer Facility Charge of $4.00 CDN per day. *All Taxes and Surcharges are subject to change without notice. Optional Products Availability and cost per day for optional equipment (such as child seats*, Neverlost and Ski Racks) varies by location. Please check at time of reservation for applicable fees and availability. Child Seats: Child seats can be confirmed at all corporate locations, on all car groups for $13.00 CDN per day and $65.00 CDN per week with no maximum charge. A $75.00 CDN replacement fee will be charged, in addition to the rental cost of the child seat, if seat is damaged or not returned. Hertz can only confirm a maximum of two (2) child seats per vehicle. Hertz offers infant seats for children up to 20 pounds, rear-facing child seats for infants weighing between 20 to 30 pounds, front-facing child seats for toddlers older than one year weighing up to 40 pounds and youth booster seats for children who weigh between 40 and 80 pounds who are 35 to 50 inches tall. Skierized Vehicles: Ski racks are $7.50 CDN (no maximum) per day on C, D and F only per rental. A $75.00 CDN replacement fee will be charged if equipment is damaged or not returned over and above rental fee. Neverlost: Neverlost is available on most midsize and larger vehicles (exceptions apply) and may be pre-reserved in major Corporate Canada Airport and Off-Airport locations for a fee of $15.99 CDN per day and $79.95 CDN per week (5-7 Days). Please confirm availability at time of reservation.
