25 Information management in the operations stage relies on a coherent framework made up of three aspects: people, systems and processes. Each aspect may sometimes be responsible for inefficiencies and bottlenecks that could hinder the implementation of BIM in the operations stage. Impact on client organisations: inefficiencies and bottlenecks Further analysis of the data suggests that there are several reasons why information in the operations stage can be incorrect or incomplete. In this study, six reasons were found: (1) users cannot find the proper information and produce their own documents; (2) information is filed in personal off-line environments; (3) revisions of information are not registered (in time); (4) revisions of information are not processed (in time); (5) information is not updated; (6) information is entered incorrectly. 30 The operators view, visualises multiple sensor values. The operator can select on the bottom different environmental sensors. Real-time data from the sensors is used to compute a heatmap per type.

31 The 3D model can also be visualised with Virtual Reality devices such as Google Cardboard. The 3D image benefits the exploration of complex situations.

32 A common use case for operators and occupants is to check the current sensor readings. The marker-based AR sensor overlay makes it simple. Pointing a smart device on a sensor label will reveal the current and historical readings.

33 We can visualise complex elements like a Fan Coil Unit in the ceiling as well as the assigned variables. This enables maintenance people to easily access real-time data of physical objects in the field.
