1 The Father s House Discipleship School Class Description FALL SEMESTER CLASSES The Heart Series Pastor Greg Fraser What is God s Heart for us as our Father? How is that to manifest in our interaction with others as we seek to reflect His love to lost world through a heart of servant hood. In this class we will study the heart of the Father and how that influences the heart of the minster and ministry. Believer s Identity Rick Melvin How do you answer the question, Who am I? As believers and follows of Christ it is essential that we answer this question correctly. Knowing who we are in Christ changes the way we live. Our relationship with God, one another and the world is determined by the believer s identity. 8 Classroom Hours Sacred Pathways Pastor Peter Visscher Isn t it easy to feel envious of some people s close walk with God? In this discipleship course, students will learn that it s better to discover the individual path that God designed for each of one of them paths marked by growth and fulfillment, based on each ones unique temperament. In Sacred Pathways, students will be encouraged to strip away the frustration of a one- size- fits- all spirituality, and each one will be guided toward a style of relating to God that frees them to be authentic. 12 Classroom Hours Old Testament Survey Pastor Luke Inberg Take a look at the Bible that Jesus used. The Books of our Old Testament were for our Savior the whole of God s written revelation to mankind. And more than anything else, these books reveal Jesus and our Heavenly Father s plan for us to find redemption, life, and purpose through His Son. 14 Classroom Hours

2 Communing with God in Prayer Rick Melvin You will never grow a close relationship with God by just attending church once a week or even having a daily quiet time. Friendship with God is built by sharing all your life experiences with him. The key to friendship with God is not changing what you do, but changing your attitude toward what you do. What you normally do for yourself, you begin doing for God, whether it is eating, working, relaxing, or taking out the trash. (Brother Lawrence). New Believers Foundations Pastor Greg Fraser In the book of John, Jesus tells us that He is the Way, The Truth and He is The Life. In this class, we examine what these statements mean to us as New Testament Believers. More specifically, The Way is about how we stand forgiven and free before God. The Truth is about how we get changed by God s word and principles. Lastly, The Life is about how we are empowered to live through His Holy Spirit. Values Pastor Matty Coppin Values inform our decisions in a moment of opportunity or challenge. Understanding God centered values allows us to respond with confidence in him, and not just from our emotions. Covenant Relationships Rick Liebel Covenant Relationship is a handbook on the Biblical principles of integrity and loyalty. It lays important foundations for congregational health and right spiritual attitudes. You will be drawn into a deeper understanding of the meaning of covenant and commitment to personal relationships. Some of the topics you will learn about are: Relationships: The Meaning of Life, How a Blood Covenant Works and Discipleship: Grooming Friendship.

3 Kingdom Relationships Rick Melvin In order to create loving, respectful and trusting connections, people will need to build their marriages, parenting and friendship on purpose. We will examine what ingredients are critically important to include in our construction of our vital relationships. These qualities will help each of us determine how we will approach life and each other. 6 Classroom hours Growing in the Life of God Pastor Greg Fraser In this class we examine the principles of Christian growth. Proverbs 4, verses provide the outline to understand how to daily live this life in the wisdom of God. We are clearly instructed to pay attention to the words of wisdom. 4 Classroom hours WINTER SEMESTER Healing Daniel King This class examines the healing ministry of Jesus and discusses the need of this ministry as it applies to our lives today. We will study the many ways Jesus healed people. We will learn about some causes of sickness, how we can experience healing in our lives and also learn to minister healing to others. 9 Classroom hours Evangelism Daniel King Why should we be soul winners? The bible tells us that He who wins souls is wise. We will study several models for evangelism and tools for witnessing. 9 Classroom hours Grace Daniel King The church needs to understand and experience the true grace that comes from the gospel of Jesus Christ. There is a fight for us as we learn to understand and apply grace to our lives. 6 Classroom hours

4 Seven Mountains Mandate Rick Melvin To impact a nation for Jesus Christ we would have to affect the seven spheres, or mountains of society that are the pillars of any society. These seven mountains are business, government, media, arts and entertainment, education, the family and religion. Our assignment is to equip believers to scale the mountains and to help a new generation of believers release the Kingdom of God in every area. Introduction to DISC Pastor Greg Fraser (extra $25 cost) What if you could begin to understand that all people are different but at times can be predictably different based on the four major personality types. Knowing how and why people react and respond in certain ways can greatly help you to understand and be understood in your relational world. 3 Classroom hours Seven Habits Pastor Greg Fraser Based on the book of the same title this, course will help you to discover your life mission statement. It can help establish a frame work for your goal setting and pursuits in life. Giving you direction that reflects your identity and unique calling as a person. Gifts of the Spirit Rick Melvin The purpose of this class is to engage in the use of spiritual gifts given for the church. This process includes understanding that all Christians are uniquely gifted by God for service in the church and in the world; that gifts and call go together; and that when individuals are encouraged to serve in the area of their giftedness, it can contribute significantly to the growth of healthy churches and healthy, growing disciples of Christ. Introduction to Apologetics Pastor Peter Visscher Does God exist? What if he is not all- powerful? Where did evil come from? Are miracles mythological? Is creation- science legitimate? Why is Jesus better than other teachers? When skeptics ask questions like these, it s important to respond with thoughtful answers and clear explanations. In this discipleship class, students will learn how to defend the authority and inspiration of the Scripture, as well as how to provide reasonable explanation for their faith in Christianity

5 New Testament Survey Pastor Luke Inberg Jesus and the Church are the focus of the New Testament. Jesus is the sum of God s revelation to you. And the church that He established and leads is a significant expression of that revelation in and to our world. Discover more of what it means to be in Christ and in His Church. Leadership Lessons from the Nehemiah Pastor Matty Coppin How do you approach crisis? Do you react? Or respond? The book of Nehemiah shows us the journey of one man responding to a crisis and shows us how he gathers people into a task, equips them in the task and sees it to completion. We will take some time to learn some of the principals he applied to this monumental task set before him. Class time 10-12, Monday through Thursday. Fees for part time classes are $7.50 per classroom hour plus books.
