5 California s RPS Legislative History on RPS 2002 RPS Bill 1: SB 1078 Required 20% renewables by 2017, with deliveries increasing 1% per year 2006 RPS Bill 2: SB 107 Accelerated 20% mandate to 2010, with flexible compliance mechanisms 2011 RPS Bill 3: SB2 1X 33% RPS bill signed by Governor Brown on April 12, & Beyond Future RPS Bills Bills will call for even higher levels of renewables; for example, 40% by 2027 I would like to see us pursue even more far-reaching targets. With the amount of renewable resources coming on-line, and prices dropping, I think 40 percent, at reasonable cost, is well within our grasp in the near future. California Governor Jerry Brown in the 33% RPS Signing Statement in April
