21 Generation Interconnection Services Overview of GIS Process Application Processing Application Review Interconnection Agreement Implementation and Commissioning Permission to Operate Processing and validating complete applications Conducting engineering studies and defining requirements to interconnect to ensure the safety and reliability of the generating facility and PG&E. It may include upgrades to PG&E s system to facilitate interconnection Interconnection Agreement between PG&E, the CAISO if connecting to transmission, and the Interconnection Customer Any facilities required for interconnection will be engineered, procured, and constructed per the agreement. Once constructed, testing to ensure a safe interconnection is conducted. Project is closed out and the generator has permission to operate in parallel with PG&E s system 21

23 Generation Interconnection Services Challenges and Next Steps PG&E resources -PG&E has brought on additional resources to facilitate the interconnection process. Tariffs -PG&E is a party to the various regulatory processes where interconnection tariffs and processes are being improved. Demystifying the interconnection process -PG&E plans to host workshops on interconnection and making improvements to our website to provide more guidance. -PG&E is planning to roll out an online application 1 st Q Alignment between Procurement Program and Interconnection -PG&E s Energy Procurement and Generation Interconnection Services meet regularly to improve delivery of messages and alignment of programs. 23

24 PG&E Solar Projects PG&E pays property taxes on solar sites and improvements. In PG&E paid over $21 million in property taxes to Fresno County. PG&E acquires land that satisfies as many of its criteria as possible. PG&E strives to acquire land not under WA and from willing sellers. PG&E is committed to decommissioning solar projects at the end of their useful life and returning the property to farmland. PG&E strives to be a good neighbor to other farmers, minimizing dust, traffic and disruptions to growers during construction and operation. 24

25 Year I and II Success Story PG&E employed 240 men and women (250,000 hours of work) to construct three projects, collectively generating 50 MW. Majority of workforce were local residents. 61% diverse contractor spend at Westside and Stroud; 40% at Five Points. Site preparation contractors were minority owned and local. Installation contractor was Native American. PG&E donated over $100,000 in labor, supplies and resources to the Five Points community providing residents with an improved access road and the students of Westside Elementary School with improvements to buildings, playground areas and new computer equipment. 25

26 PG&E Will Work With Fresno County Year II is under construction at Huron, Giffen and Cantua solar sites to collectively generate 50MW. We project a greater number of local jobs and contribution to the Fresno County economy and tax base. Years III, IV and V are under development. Our commitment is to be a good neighbor and work with the Board of Supervisors as we plan future projects. 26
