Rainwater Harvesting The complete direct feed rainwater system Modular solution Calming inlet Pre-primed pump Multi-source inlets UK manufacture Quick to install
Why rainwater harvesting? How we use our water * 33% getting washed 9% other uses 30% flushing toilets 7% garden & car cleaning 13% washing clothes...installing a rainwater harvesting system could supply 50% or more of your domestic water demand and in excess of 80% for commercial applications... Average water consumption in the UK is 150 litres per person (unmetered). 39% or 58.5 litres per day per person could be saved by using recycled rainwater. For a family of four this is 1,638 litres per week or 85,176 litres per year - Ofwat *Source: Waterwise
Rainwater Harvesting Rainwater harvesting systems are complete water re-use and filtration solutions that draw rainwater run-off from roof areas through guttering and downpipes and store it for later use in underground tanks. When water resources are under increasing pressure from population growth and climate change, it helps reduce the demand on mains supplies by providing non-potable water for washing clothes, cleaning vehicles, flushing toilets and watering gardens. With domestic applications, a correctly sized rainwater harvesting system can supply up to 50% of the water demand. This should be determined by the area over which the water is collected, also known as the available yield, and is dependent upon the usage from the number of WCs supplied and any irrigation requirements. On commercial developments the demand for mains water usage can be much higher. Office blocks, schools and commercial buildings typically use greater quantities flushing urinals and WCs with additional supplies feeding landscaped areas and vehicle washes. In such applications rainwater harvesting can provide savings of up to 80% supplementing the mains water supply. The Brett Martin Rainwater Harvesting System is a direct feed system. Harvesting rainwater with a direct feed system simply means the delivery of pressurised, pumped water to feed the garden taps and toilets. Water is pumped from the tank and the tank is topped up in times of drought by the mains backup system. The range is available in two systems; Home & Garden and Garden only. This leaflet is intended to provide a brief introduction to the unique benefits of both rainwater harvesting and also the Brett Martin system. For more information please contact us: telephone or building@brettmartin.com The benefits of rainwater harvesting: Can save home-owners up to 50% of their annual potable water usage Perfect for toilet flushing, laundry washing, car washing and garden use Reduces demand on valuable water resources, helping conserve water in the face of climate change Helps satisfy Legislative requirements enforcing the need to conserve water Can help minimise the impact of predicted higher water charges and water metering Brett Martin Rainwater Harvesting System: A modular solution, providing ease of installation and quicker project completion Features calmed inlet to avoid disturbance of settled sedimentation and improve water quality by aeration Complete with primed pump, providing reliable performance and reduced maintenance Three inlets for multiple water sources Integrates with Brett Martin rainwater and underground drainage systems UK manufacture, helping achieve a lower carbon footprint Single piece pre-fitted construction assists installation times and cost
Home & Garden System The combined Home and Garden System is designed to filter and store collected rainwater in robust HDPE tanks. An integral submersible pump supplies harvested water to WCs and washing machines via pressurised pipes. A simple branch line from this pipe can feed bib taps or hose connections allowing the water to be used externally. The Home and Garden system is supplied with a mains water top-up mechanism to ensure there is a constant reservoir within the tank and avoid the dry running of the pump. Features: Automatic operation with top-up controller Five HDPE tank/volume options 1,200-6,000 Litres 110mm or 160mm main channel connection 3 inlet, self cleaning, leaf and debris filter for roof areas up to 500m 2 Overflow with vermin grill skims floating particles (e.g. pollen) promoting water quality Pre-primed submersible pump system ready for use when the system is connected to mains power Inlet One of three optional inlets Filter unit Utilities/service Duct connection Access cover Complete with steel access cover and PP frame for ease of maintenance Calming inlet Sits at base of tank to diffuse flow and prevent disturbance Filter overflow Discharges filter overflow to surface water drain Floating intake Extracts and further filters clean water from beneath surface layer Pump & control system Top up control system includes a self priming pump located in tank System Options Code BMH1200 BMH2000 BMH3500 BMH6000 BMH1500LP Description 1,200 Litre Home Tank Complete 2,000 Litre Home Tank Complete 3,500 Litre Home Tank Complete 6,000 Litre Home Tank Complete 1,500 Litre Low Profile Home Tank Complete
Garden System As the name suggests, the Garden only system collects, filters and supplies stored rainwater for garden use. Rainwater from the tank is supplied via a self priming submersible pump located within the tank. All Garden systems feature a 20mm pressure pipe system. The specially marked pipe from the tank is easily connected to either a garden tap or hose connection for use. Because the rainwater is pressurised by the pump it can be used in the garden or connected to marked taps, most domestic sprinklers/irrigation watering systems and most jet wash connections. All Garden systems come with 10 metres of pump power cable and a standard 230v 3 pin plug which are plugged into the mains supply to power the pump. Features: Five HDPE tank/volume options 1,200-6,000 Litres with lockable covers 3 inlet, self cleaning, leaf and debris filter Mains powered pump Secondary pump filter Supply pipe easily connects to garden tap or hose connection Overflow and self calming inlet Suitable for existing and new developments Power is supplied by a standard mains socket Access cover Complete with steel access cover and PP frame for ease of maintenance Filter unit Tank/pipe connection For power cable and pump discharge Filter overflow Discharges filter overflow to surface water drain Inlet One of three optional inlets Calming inlet Sits at base of tank to diffuse flow and prevent disturbance Main overflow Submersible pump Self priming with integrated water level control switch System Options Code BMG1200 BMG2000 BMG3500 BMG6000 BMG1500LP Description 1,200 Litre Garden Tank Complete 2,000 Litre Garden Tank Complete 3,500 Litre Garden Tank Complete 6,000 Litre Garden Tank Complete 1,500 Litre Low Profile Garden Tank Complete
