LA FUENTE HOLLYWOOD TREATMENT CENTER (323) One of the nation s leading LGBT specific inpatient drug rehab treatment programs. Most PPO insurance accepted & in network with Anthem Blue Cross. LOS ANGELES LGBT CENTER (323) Provides Crystal Meth and addiction recovery services and programs (see more detailed information on page 9). MCINTYRE HOUSE (323) A residential substance abuse recovery and sober living facility for men. No one turned away for lack of funds. 3

The program consists of risk-reduction trainings,support groups and community events with gay men who use methamphetamine. 9 OTHER PROGRAMMING LOS ANGELES LGBT CENTER offers the following Crystal MethRecovery Services (CMRS) and can be reached at or (323) More information about the programs noted at Anonymous online chat support: Every weekday from 1-5 p.m. you can chat online completely anonymously, with a specially trained Center therapist for advice, recommendations and support. Breaking Free from Substances: A group that focuses on early recovery with an emphasis on harm reduction from all substances with the exception of crystal meth. Clients will examine the role substances play in their lives, learn basic steps to stopping substance abuse and address major holes in their lives they may be trying to fill with substances. Daytime IOP: An intensive abstinence-based program that meets 5 days a week. Facilitated by professional substance abuse counselors, this program is designed to help clients dealing with mental health challenges and any substance abuse problems. (i.e., alcohol, cannabis, crystal meth, crack, etc.) Evening outpatient program: An abstinence-based program that meets three nights a week and is facilitated by professional substance abuse counselors. This is a low-cost, intensive program for people with any substance abuse problem (alcohol, cannabis, crystal meth, crack, etc.). Individual Therapy: One-on-one counseling focusing on substance abuse, costs/benefits of use, harm reduction vs. abstinence, safety planning, relapse prevention, etc. Intensive Day Outpatient Program: An intensive abstinence based program that meets 5 days a week from 10 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Facilitated by professional substance abuse counselors this program is designed to help clients dealing with mental health challenges and any substance abuse problem i.e., alcohol, cannabis, crystal meth, crack, etc. This program is located at the McDonald/Wright Building Schrader location. Client must register with MHS. Methology: For people who want to reduce the harm caused by meth. This free program is a mix of five group and individual sessions. Participants meet in a safe, non-judgmental space and sessions are confidential. Pathways to Women s Recovery: Meets Thursday nights in West Hwd. Abstinence-based group focuses on teaching mindful attitudes that help women overcome struggles that arise in recovery and help break self-destructive behaviors that can present as barriers to maintaining sobriety. 9

10 NATIONAL RECOVERY MONTH ( National Recovery Month is a national observance that educates Americans on the fact that addiction treatment and mental health services can enable those with a mental and/or substance use disorder to live a healthy and rewarding life. 10

11 The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) conducts the annual National Survey on Drug Use and Health (NSDUH), a major source of information on substance use, abuse, and dependence among Americans 12 years and older. Survey respondents report whether they have used specific substances ever in their lives (lifetime), over the past year, and over the past month (also referred to as "current use"). Most analyses focus on past-month use. The following are facts and statistics on substance use in the United States in 2013, the most recent year for NSDUH survey results. Approximately 67,800 people responded to the survey in Illicit* drug use in the United States has been increasing. Marijuana use has increased since Use of most drugs other than marijuana has stabilized over the past decade or has declined. Most people use drugs for the first time when they are teenagers. More than half of new illicit drug users begin with marijuana. Drug use is highest among people in their late teens and twenties. Drug use is increasing among people in their fifties and early sixties. Drinking by underage persons (ages 12 to 20) has declined. Binge** and heavy drinking are more widespread among men than women. Driving under the influence of alcohol has also declined slightly. Fewer Americans are smoking. Teen smoking is declining more rapidly. Rates of alcohol dependence/abuse declined from 2002 to After alcohol, marijuana has the highest rate of dependence or abuse among all drugs. There continues to be a large "treatment gap" in this country. * "Illicit" refers to use of illegal drugs, including marijuana according to federal law, and misuse of prescription drugs. ** Binge drinking is five or more drinks on the same occasion. Heavy drinking is binge drinking on at least five separate days in the past month. 11
