Every magazine subscription sold enters your child for exciting prizes. As well a percentage of each subscription is returned to Earl Oxford. We will Kick off the campaign on Oct. 19th and will sell until Nov. 10th. More information will be coming home with your child, so please watch for it. SCHOOL BELL TIMES First bell 8:50 a.m. A.M. 3 Snacks. We are noticing that many students are feeling hungry by recess time, both in the morning and in the afternoon. Here are some suggestions of healthy snacks that you could send with your child. Mr. Cowell s Class will be visiting Fun Time Pottery on October 14th and are looking very forward to their trip. Crackers Granola Bars Fruit/Veggies Dry Cereal Cheese String Yogurt Tube From Parent Council: Our Next Parent Council meeting will be Wednesday, October 26th at 5 p.m. in Staffroom in Home Ec Room. Peak of the Market Fundraiser raised $1,200 for our playground and donataed $300 to Samaritan House Thank You! Holiday Magic Fundraiser Event date November 5th. Order forms will need to be returned by October 19th, tickets will be sent home by October 27th. Tickets are $5.00 each and 100% of the proceeds go to the school!

4 Kindergarten Pictures October 11th, 2016 Information packages will be sent home first week of October. Retakes will also be taken this day if you are wanting to get picture retakes. Student Leadership Upcoming Activities Halloween Spirit Days (as chosen by Student Leadership at EO) - Wed. Oct. 26th - PJ Day - Thurs. Oct. 27th - Face Painting (must be done at home prior to school - will not be done at school) and Hat Day - Fri. Oct. 28th - Dress like a Celebrity or Teacher Day. Candy Bags sent home at end of day this day. (There will also be an order form sent home after Thanksgiving. This will be placed in your mailbox when it is to go home!) - Mon. Oct Costume Parade 1:00PM (parents can watch in the gym at this time), Classroom Activities K-3, Dance and Games room Grade 4-8. Earl Oxford School Bag Up Challenge (K-8) Contest Runs: October 3 31, 2016 Since the fall of 2008, elementary schools in Manitoba have collected over SIX MILLION plastic bags for recycling into Frisbees, bird houses, planter boxes and benches for their schools. This year s prize is still TBD, but we promise you ll love it! At Earl Oxford we helped save 18,000 plastic bags from the landfill IN 2015! This is our FOURTH YEAR in a row participating! Let s try to do even better this year! Please bring in any type of PLASTIC BAGS to your classroom during the month of October, and we can WIN the most GREEN SCHOOL in Manitoba! PLASTIC THAT WILL BE ACCEPTED: Grocery bags, retail bags, newspaper sleeves, produce bags, bread bags, ice bags, bubble wrap, case over wrap, pellet bags, salt bags, dry cleaning bags, re-sealable food bags, cereal bags, empty toilet paper wrapper bags, water softener bags, etc. All bags MUST BE EMPTY, USED AND CLEAN!!! You can even ask friends and family members for their extra bags too! We will keep track of the bags brought in to the school in each classroom. 5 Earl Oxford School is planning to have a Christmas Store in December This is an opportunity for all students to shop and purchase gifts for their family members. We are looking for any donations of new or gently used items that you may have at home and no longer use or need. Some ideas are: toys, games, puzzles, movies, stuffed animals, candles, books, CD s, tools, picture frames, ornaments, knick-knacks, and other household items. We are also in need of tissue paper, ribbon, and gift bags. Any items would be greatly appreciated and can be sent with your child or dropped off at the office anytime. A new season is upon us routines have been established and new activities have begun. Fall is a great time to start up a new reading routine as well. Here are some reading tips to help you establish a routine with your child: Just before bedtime is a good time to read to your child. Turn the TV off when you are reading to your child. Talk about the story and the pictures while you read. Ask your child to find things in the pictures. Enjoy! Mrs. R. It is very important we have up to date information when trying to reach parents in case of emergency, bus cancellations, etc. Our school uses an automated call out system, so if your child(ren) are absent with no reason given, you will receive a phone call from School Connects.
