3 Olympic Campaign Rio Mixed Multihull - Alain Marchand & Fanny Brouchoud Sailing Team Two of the best world sailors Professional sailor, sailmaker & naval designer Alain Marchand Segel Club St-Moritz SCStM By his initial education (naval design) and job as a sailmaker for 20 years with Voiles Gautier, Incidence Sails, Europ sails and now consultant for North Sails, Alain has accumulated a lot of precious experience about sail design and use. Sailing full time on various boats from dinghy to maxi yachts, he also has a perfect knowledge of multihull and One Design series. He also has participated to more than six worlds and sailed accross the Atlantic. He sailed two seasons in Decision 35 with Loïck Peyron as team performer and sailtrimmer, winning twice the overall result of year circuit. He also worked as a coach for other D35 crew. Small multihulls are also part of his experience, being European vice-champion in Formula 20 and having taken the lead of a M2 corinthian crew to compete in the Safram speed Tour. Aside fleet racing, he also sailed numerous match racing Grade 1 on the World Match Race Tour with the team of Eric Monnin, and managed to beat James Spithill in the quarter-final of the Bermuda Gold Cup. But Alain does not forget his original sailboat, finishing 9th without training in the 2009 Laser Swiss Championship in Yverdon after being 7th and finalist of the Race of Champions in St-Moritz in Master degree in Management & sail trimmer Fanny Brouchoud Segel Club St-Moritz SCStM Loving sailing, Fanny started racing on Joker class and Mumm 30 and joined 8 years ago Alain s team as a trimmer on Surprise One Design class. Even she is now graduated at the University, Fanny also holds a Yacht Master from the UKSA in Cowes and she was learning Materials for 2 years at the famous EPFL. Few years later, she is now probably one of the most titled girl in Switzerland, being several times on the three steps of a podium. She has also a great experience by sailing on several boats such as Longtze, Esse 850, metric class or multihull series like M2 or 18, allowing to learn a lot of sailing ways. Laser radial is her boat for training when they are not racing. By her knowledge and time sailing together, she is now the second eye of Alain, providing all the information needed during the race to perform in a high level regatta. She has also a really good physical power and she knows well how to manage it during the competitions. Fanny works with Alain on sails and boats preparation and manage regulary the travelling and hosting for our owners and crew. Olympics would be a continuous line due to this new class giving the oportunity for relative light crews to perform at this level. 1
