1 Premium TechTool TM Availability of Diagnostic Software Premium Tech Tool (PTT) and Vehicle Computer Aided Diagnostic Software (VCADS) are software tools used for vehicle and engine control management for Mack and Volvo vehicles and components. PTT is a toolbox that bundles diagnostic (VCADS) and repair applications (Guided Diagnostics) together making it a one stop shop for the technicians. The main purpose of PTT is to support the diagnostic and repair process and to make it easier for technicians to work with the tools provided. PTT provides access to vehicle and parameter programming, service information and diagnostics. See brochure for more details. This software will communicate with both Mack and Volvo vehicles, with the proper interface device (adapter). Legacy V-MAC software products are no longer available. PTT Diagnostic Tool Version 1.07 and earlier requires Windows 2000/XP Pro Service Pack 2 or 3 (not Windows Vista). PTT Diagnostic Tool Version 1.08 and later requires Windows XP Professional, Service Pack 2 or 3, or Windows Vista Business with or without Service Pack 1. 3 More Ordering Information NOTE: The initial order for diagnostic customer software will be sent to the dealer and future CD updates and subscription renewals will be sent directly to the customer or as instructed. If you are ordering new or additional software for a Mack or Volvo dealer, please call and ask for diagnostic software support. 1. Sorry, no telephone orders can be accepted. All orders must be placed on-line as outlined above. 2. Pricing is the same (for diagnostic software as listed in the pricing schedule) regardless of who places the order (dealers or customers), or from which website the order is placed. 3. There are no quantity discounts. 4. Price per copy includes free updates for the first year of software ownership. You will receive 90 days, 60 days and 30 days subscription renewal notices by Shipment lead time for initial orders is 2 working days minimum to 10 working days (longer for larger orders). 6. Customers and their service technicians must pre-register. The registration worksheet can be downloaded from the website where the order is placed. Diagnostic software may be installed on one computer only, and this software is copyright protected. For connecting to Central Systems for initial registration and to receive web updates, a connection to the internet is required for the computer on which the diagnostic software is installed. 7 Premium TechTool TM Recommended Datalink Adapter and Kit The recommended USB datalink adapter (interface/translator device) must be connected between the computer and the vehicle when using programming and diagnostic software products. This datalink adapter is available through your Mack or Volvo dealer as an individual part, or in a kit (Part No ) which includes the cable required for connecting the adapter to the truck. 8 The 9-pin to 40-pin connector cable (part No ) is used to connect the datalink adapter to vehicles which use the standard 9-pin diagnostic connector. The 9-pin to 6-pin cable adapter (part No ) is used along with the 9-pin to 40-pin connector cable in order to connect the datalink adapter to earlier vehicles (vehicles manufactured prior to July 2001) which have the 6-pin diagnostic connector. Also included is a utility for maintenance of the device. If this device is being used on a computer that does not have VCADS installed, the driver must be installed separately. A CD is included in the datalink adapter and cable kit (part No ) for installation of the driver and the utility application. This CD is not needed if the device is being used on a computer which has VCADS installed. Mack Trucks, Inc. realizes that other adapters are in common use throughout the market, and has tested communication throughput for several of these adapters which are available. The protocol used by Mack Trucks is in compliance with TMC Recommended Practice RP1210A, so any RP1210A compliant adapter should function. However, due to minor differences in implementation of the standard by the various datalink adapter manufacturers, Mack Trucks, Inc. cannot guarantee results, and indeed, some adapters may perform better than others. For this reason, dealers are required to use the MACK datalink adapter part No for ECU software programming. For other operations, such as parameter programming or tests and calibrations, anyone using VCADS Software is free to choose an RP1210A compliant adapter from another supplier. Software drivers for adapters other than the part No adapter are supplied by the adapter manufacturer and technical support is the responsibility of the supplier.
