1 How to apply online for a job at SGI Thanks for considering a career at SGI. Here are some instructions to guide you through the online application process. External applications IMPORTANT: If you are running Internet Explorer 10 version, the compatibility mode needs to be enabled. A small gray icon representing a torn sheet of paper will appear on the top tool bar (right of the field used to enter a URL). To turn on the compatibility mode, click on the gray, broken paper icon which will turn blue. The blue icon means the compatibility mode is turned on. Verify that the icon remains blue after you move your mouse away. You will be automatically logged out after 20 minutes of inactivity. Activity is identified as a click of any application button/link: Apply Now, Continue, Submit, Next, Previous, Questionnaire, Referral Source. If your session times out you will have to start the application process over. You will receive a confirmation when your application is successfully submitted. Questions? Contact Human Resources at ext New User 1. If you are a New User, click on Register Here. 2. Enter a User Name, Password, and Confirm Password. Click Register.
2 3. Click on the Job Title of the job you are applying for OR place a checkmark beside the job title(s). If you place a checkmark beside the job title(s), click on Apply for Selected Jobs. This option will take you directly to the first page of the Application Form Resume page (see step # 5) 4. If you chose to click on the Job Title, it will bring you to the Job Description page. Click on Apply Now. Note: More than one job can be selected/applied for at one time if using the checkmark method. Note: It does not matter which Apply Now button you click on. 2
3 5. Select Upload a new resume. Click Continue. 8. The document now appears in the File Attachment window. Click Upload. Note: If applying on more than one job opening the resume you upload will be applied to all selected applications. Should you wish to customize your resume and cover letter to a specific job opening you will need to complete the application process separately for each job and upload a resume. 9. Click Continue. Note: You can change your Resume Title if desired. This will help to distinguish your resume documents within your account and for future applications. 6. A File Attachment window will appear. Click Choose File or Browse. 7. Find and select the document (resume) you want to upload and click Open. 3
4 10. Fill out the My Profile page Name, Address, and Phone Number. Click Save. 11. Fill out Preferences and Desired Work Days. Select Geographic Preference. Answer Application Questionnaire. Indicate a Referral Source Click Continue Note: If you have indicated you are a former employee, input your Last Day of Employment (if known). 4
5 Note: After you click on the Continue button, your application has not been submitted. Your application will be submitted after you have completed the Terms and Agreements and clicked on the Submit button. 12. Fill out the Voluntary Self-Declaration including Gender and Diversity Group(s). Select either Agree or Disagree to the Terms and Agreements Click Submit Note: If you do not click on the Submit button, your application WILL NOT be submitted. 13. Once you click on the Submit button, you will be taken to a page showing your successful application(s). Note: If you do not wish to Self-Declare, place a checkmark in the I decline to provide my self identification details box. Note: If you wish to review the information you provided on the previous application pages, click on the Return to Previous Page link. 5
6 14. You will receive an automatic confirming receipt of application. Under My Applications, click on the drop down list and select the appropriate option. Click Refresh. A list of the application(s) that you have applied on will appear. You can navigate here at any time to verify that your application(s) has gone through. Note: If more than one job is selected for an application, all applicable job titles will appear. IMPORTANT: If you DO NOT receive a confirmation within 10 minutes of selecting Submit or have any questions contact Human Resources at To access your successfully submitted applications, navigate to the Careers Home Page. Under My Career Tools, click on Accepted/Unaccepted Applications. Returning user 1. If you are a Returning User, enter your User Name and Password. Click Login. 6

8 4. Upload a new resume or Use an Existing resume. Upload a new resume: Select Upload a new resume. Find and select the document (resume) you want to upload and click Open. Click Continue. Note: If applying on more than one job opening the resume you upload will be applied to all selected applications. Should you wish to customize your resume and cover letter to a specific job opening you will need to complete the application process separately for each job and upload a resume. The document now appears in the File Attachment window. Click Upload. A File Attachment window will appear. Click Browse. Click Continue. Note: You can change your Resume Title if desired. This will help to distinguish your resume documents within your account and for future applications. Go to Step #5. 8
9 Use an existing resume: Select Use an existing resume. Select a resume from the drop down list. Click Continue. 5. Fill out Preferences and Desired Work Days. Select Geographic Preferences. Answer application Questionnaire. Indicate a Referral Source Click Continue Note: After you click on the Continue button, your application has not been submitted.
