This warranty covers defective parts and workmanship provided that the product is shipped pre-paid to the seller within 36 months of purchase of goods. This warranty is limited to the repair or replacement (at the manufacturers discretion) of parts and shipping prepaid to the original dispatch destination. 3 SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS: 1. Keep your work area clean and free from all clutter. 2. Have a safe working environment where the tool is not exposed to rain or moisture. Ensure the workplace is well lit and free of flammable materials. 3. Guard yourself against electrical shock by avoiding body contact with earthed or grounded surfaces. 4. All visitors or bystanders should be kept at a safe distance at all times and are not to touch the tool, material or power source under any circumstances. 5. This tool should be stored in a cool, dry, secure place, disconnected from any power source. 6. Do not force this tool. Sand at a slow and steady pace where the machine is doing all the work is not only safer, it also will do a better job and extend the tool s working life. 7. This tool is only to be used for purposes outlined in this manual. Misuse or unsafe usage automatically voids all warranties and guarantees. 8. Dress properly. Do not wear loose or hanging garments or jewellery as they may get caught in moving components. Always wear a hair net for long hair, rubber gloves and non-skid footwear are recommended when using this tool. 9. Wear safety glasses, hearing protection and face or dust masks at all times when operating this saw. 10. This machine is fitted with a dust extraction nozzle. Please ensure that it is hooked up correctly before use. 11. Never carry this machine by its cord or yank it from the power point. Keep this cord away from sharp objects, water and oil. 12. Always use clamps, vices or bolts to secure the machine to a bench. 13. Keep a firm footing and stay balanced at all times. 14. Please follow all service instructions very accurately. 4 BEFORE EACH USE: 1. Check the machine. If a part is missing or damaged or if there is a defect on electrical equipment, switch the machine off and unplug it. Prior to the next use, replace all the missing, damaged or defective parts. 2. Take steps to prevent jamming the disc or belt as this can cause throw backs: 3. Select a sand paper matched to the specific job. Use this machine only for wood. 4. There are arrows on the guards, always ensure you note them. Always ensure you use the disc sander on the downward rotation. 5. Always ensure the sandpaper is in good condition and will not break or frey. 6. Make sure that all the attachment devices and locks are tight and no component is allowed too much free travel. 7. Make sure that all objects that are not being sanded are clear of the moving parts. 8. Only sand one piece at a time. A. Take special care when sanding large or very small pieces or pieces difficult to handle. Use auxiliary supports (table, holders) for long pieces that tend to fall down from the table when unsupported. B. Never use this machine to sand pieces so small that they cannot be safely held. C. When sanding pieces of various profile, work so that the material cannot slip and get jammed in the moving parts. Work pieces should either attach with all their surface areas or it is necessary to hold them with a device that will prevent rotating, turning or slipping during the course of sanding. Do not sand timber with nails, screws or other foreign objects embedded in it. 4 INSTRUCTION BOOKLET

5 ADDITIONAL SAFETY RULES FOR THE SANDER 1. Ensure that the lighting is adequate. 2. Do not use the machine unless the guards are in place. 3. Do not use the machine to sand metal or masonry. 4. Keep the area free of tripping hazards. 5. Do not let anyone under 18 years of age operate this machine. 6. Always stand to one side when operating the machine. 7. Never use damaged or deformed sand paper. 8. Never use your hands to remove sawdust, chips or waste close by the moving parts. Use only sand paper recommended by the manufacturer. 9. If the table insert is damaged or worn, have it replaced at an authorized service centre. 10. Rags, cloths, cord, string and the like should never be left around the work area. 11. Support the work properly. 12. Never reach over the moving parts to remove waste or off cuts. 13. Do not attempt to free a jammed parts before first switching off the machine and disconnecting the power supply. 14. Do not slow or stop a machine with a piece of wood. Let the parts come to rest naturally. 15. If you are interrupted when operating the machine, complete the process and switch off before looking up at the interruption. 16. Always before use check that all nuts, bolts and other fixings are properly tightened. 17. Do not expose to rain or use in damp locations. 18. Any use other than those outlined in the manual will be considered a case of misuse. 19. The user and not the manufacturer shall be liable for any damage or injury resulting from such cases of misuse. 20. The manufacturer shall not be liable for any changes made to the tool or for any damage resulting from such changes. 21. 7 MAINTENANCE WARNING! Always ensure that the tool is switched off and the plug is removed from the power point before making any adjustments or maintenance procedures. Any damage to this tool should be repaired and carefully inspected before use, by qualified repair personnel Have your power tool serviced by a qualified repairperson using only identical parts. This will ensure that the safety of the power tool is maintained. Swarts Tools will not be responsible for any damage or injury caused by unauthorised repair or mishandling of the tool 1) Power Maintenance If the supply cord needs replacing, the task must be carried out by the manufacturer, the manufacturer s agent, or an authorised service centre in order to avoid a safety hazard. 2) Cleaning Keep the tool s air vents unclogged and clean at all times Remove dust and dirt regularly. Cleaning is best done with a soft brush or rag Re-lubricate all moving parts at regular intervals Never use caustic agents to clean plastic parts. CAUTION! Do not use cleaning agents to clean the plastic part of the saw. A mild detergent on a damp cloth is recommended. 3) General Inspection Regularly check that all fixing screws are tight, particularly the outer flange. They may vibrate loose over time. The supply cord of the tool and any extension cord used should be checked frequently for damage. If damaged, have cord set replaced by an authorised service facility. Replace the extension cord if necessary. 4) Lubrication The grease in the gearbox will require replacement after extensive use of the tool. 8 PRODUCT FEATURE INSTRUCTIONS CHANGING THE PITCH OF THE BELT SANDER 1. Turn the product off at the wall and unplug it 2. Loosen the bolt using the allen key provided, located above the belt drive, the yellow arrow below is pointing top it. 3. With the bolt loosened, you may now adjust the belt sander to your desired angle 4. Re-tighten the bolt Note: If required, you may bolt the disc sander table to the belt sander using the same hardware. CHANGING THE DISC SANDER PAPER 1. Turn the product off at the wall and unplug it 2. Remove the two screws which hold the black guard over the bottom half of the disc sander using a Phillips head screwdriver. (shown with the yellow arrows below) 3. Use a knife to peel off the sand paper off the metal plate 4. Remove any remaining adhesive using mineral turpentine. ALLOW TO DRY 5. Peel the backing off your new sanding disc and stick firmly to the metal plate 6. Re-install guards prior to your next use 8 INSTRUCTION BOOKLET

9 CHANGING THE BELT SANDER PAPER 1. Turn the product off at the wall and unplug it 2. Loosen the bolt on the disc sander angle adjustment using the allen key provided (Picture 1.) 3. Position the belt sander so that it is sitting at a 90 C angle to its base 4. Tighten the bolt on the disc sander angle adjustment using the allen key provided 5. Release the sanding drum by pulling the lever (Picture 2.) 6. Loosen the two screws in the picture below using a Phillips head screwdriver and remove the black guard (Picture 3.) 7. Slide the belt off the side of the drums 8. Slide a new belt place 9. Tension the drums by pushing the tensioning lever back into place 10. Re-install the blackguard and return the belt sander to its original position Note: You may need to use the tracking knob to adjust the running location of the belt Picture1. Picture 2. Picture 3.
