16 CASE STUDY 1 History: 36 year old female, working as a bartender, works late nights, diagnosed as having depression and an eating disorder Chief complaint: fatigue, stomach pain, occasional nausea and vomiting, depression Physical exam: normal, normal blood work Triggers: include stress, high gluten diet Resolution: stomach pain cleared within 30 days of treatment for H. pylori in third month of program, depression resolved at end of 6 months Follow up: testing showed improved adrenal function and elimination of H. pylori

23 FOLLOW UP TESTING AND KEY INSIGHTS Cortisol levels improved Elimination of H. pylori GI pathogens can trigger significant fatigue and depression related problems Eating disorders, GI pain, nausea can all be signals of H. pylori infection Stress exacerbates H. pylori, in a sense it s a stress related condition

26 CASE STUDY 2 History: 39 year old male, computer programmer Silicon Valley, poor diet, skips meals, protein powders for lunch, long commute works long hours, long history low grade GI complaints, heartburn, bloating Chief complaints: chronic fatigue, memory issues, emotionally worn down Triggers: Stress, work meeting melt downs Physical exam: normal, conventional medical labs normal Treatment: 5-HTP, tyrosine, NAC, B complex, increased whole foods diet, H. pylori protocol and meditation exercises and increase in physical activity of walking 30 minutes daily Resolution: Significant benefits accrued from lifestyle changes and starting to eat regular food for meals, elimination of H. pylori and treating GI tract also contributed to improvements in fatigue. Lights on again experience with use of high dose amino acids, 5-HTP 600 mg daily in divided dosages with tyrosine at 4,000 mg daily
