The GB-EMS Team was established by a group of experienced ambulance crews and managers, coming from a whole host of medical backgrounds, bringing with them many decades of relevant experience and the focus of providing a high quality service to all our clients. Introduction Our primary base is on the South Coast, however, with good transport links and a close network of industry partners, we re able to provide a whole range of medical resources and have the ability to efficiently and cost-effectively cover transport requirements across the UK. Our team maintains their qualifications to high nationally recognised standards and; where possible, they are registered with appropriate governing bodies (Such as the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) and EMT Registries), GB-EMS currently provides ITU and HDU Specification, Emergency Ambulances, Crewed by HCPC Paramedics and Ambulance Technicians, PTS (Patient Transport) Ambulances and Patient Transport Cars also crewed appropriately. We are currently registered and regulated by the Care Quality Commission (CQC), which is mandatory for any Independent Ambulance Service providing Transport Services or any Medical Skills over and above First Aider and are also accredited by the NHS, Ministry of Defence and Local Government, to supply ambulance services on their behalf. For peace of mind, GB Emergency Medical Services are fully insured with Employers Liability, Public/Product Liability and Medical Indemnity Cover and all Vehicles are insured for Ambulance Purposes and for Emergency (Blue Light) Cover as required. Mission Statement GB Emergency Medical Services aims to provide high quality patient transport in a safe and flexible way, to meet the needs of our patients and clients and to promote the Health, Safety and Welfare of all Clients, Patients and Employees transport@gbems.co.uk

Security and Identification All GB Emergency Medical Services Ltd staff members are subject to a DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) Check prior to being allowed to work on our behalf; everyone is also re-checked on a regular basis, whether working in a direct care setting or in support of our organisation. All Staff Members are issued with Photo ID Cards bearing their Photo, Full Name and Qualification and a contact number for verification of the person s identity, We re aware that certain venues operate heightened security and more thorough identity checking facilities are required. Where this is the case, additional information such as passport numbers and driving license details can be forwarded to an appropriate authority prior to a transfer upon special request. Staff Qualifications and Skill Levels There is a lot of jargon around the medical sector, not least of all to describe skill levels, hopefully this section will help you to understand the crew skill levels provided by GB Emergency Medical Services Ltd. We pride ourselves in providing the most appropriate crew skill mix for each patients needs. Ambulance Care Assistant Hold a nationally recognised First Aid Qualification, but with the addition of Ambulance Care Skills and Ambulance based Moving and handling. These basic level crews are ideal for attending patients who are likely to need very little medical intervention whilst on transport, but may also have mobility issues. Emergency Care Assistant Are qualified to IHCD First Person On Scene (Intermediate) or Equivalent Standard, but have additional skills in Ambulance Care and Moving and Handling Casualties, which give them enough knowledge and skills to work with and assist the Ambulance Technician, EMT or Paramedic on a HDU Ambulance or act as Lead on a Patient Transport Ambulance. Emergency Medical Technician Has completed a recognised E.M.T. training pathway as a minimum requirement. They have the capability of vital signs monitoring and interpretation, administration of inhalation analgesia and more advance airway management in addition to more advanced ambulance skills. Qualified Ambulance Technician Has completed the IHCD Ambulance Technician or National Diploma in Emergency Care Qualifications. These crews are skilled in more advanced medical and trauma management and can administer a wide range of lifesaving medications. HCPC Paramedic Has completed a recognised Paramedic Training pathway and be a Registered Paramedic with a HCPC Pin Number, which is made available to clients upon request. GB-EMS Paramedic Crews are provided along with all Paramedic Equipment and a full range of Paramedic Drugs. The crew skill level provided is based solely on the needs of your patient and is decided in discussion with you (our client) at the time of booking transport@gbems.co.uk

How are We Different? GB-EM has a Clinical Management Team, Including a Medical Director (Doctor) and a Paramedic Clinical Manager, Overseeing Best Practice and Clinical Standards, Right across the Company Our Ambulance Technicians are Trained in Advanced Life Support and carry Cardiac Arrest Drugs in addition to the standard Technician Medications, This is a higher standard than most other companies in the industry Our Focus is on Quality over Profit, GB-EMS Provides a High Quality of Service to all our clients. We have an On Call Duty Manager available 24 hours a day to assist clients and our own crews. Our Emergency Drivers are Trained and Qualified to high national standards, they are even re-assessed regularly to ensure continued competence. Improving the safety of our crews, your patients and other road users. All our crews are subject to Spot Checks, Quality Assurance Visits and regular Competence Assessments to ensure they re always following best practice guidelines and keep their skills up to date. Our Ambulances are equipped to a standard higher than that of the NHS and some other Independent Ambulance Services. (Even our Lowest Grade Patient Transport Vehicles and Cars are equipped with Oxygen and Defibrillators) Our Paramedics are trained to manage Syringe Driver and PCA Systems, reducing the requirement to send Nursing Staff on Transport Journeys. (These should only be managed by Registered Healthcare Professionals due to the Medications being administered) When a Paramedic is required, GB-EMS only employ HCPC Registered Paramedics and make their registration numbers available to our clients. We do not operate Equivalents or Unregistered Paramedics. Most of our Paramedics are Paramedic Practitioners or Emergency Care Practitioners, Allowing them to provide additional skills, improving the standard of care to your patients. We re open and honest in all our dealings with clients and patients We have a very stringent recruitment process, which ensures only the best candidates are employed by us. Our team are subject to regular Mandatory refresher and skill development days, ensuring they re well equipped to deal with any situation. (Regular Updates include: Safeguarding, Moving and Handling, BLS, ILS, ALS, Policy Updates, Infection Control, Patient Assessment and Lots More) transport@gbems.co.uk

Non Emergency Patient Transport GB-EMS has the experience and expertise to undertake these tasks. Whether a routine outpatient appointment, transfer home after treatment, or a last minute transfer, our staff will do everything they can to ensure that the patient receives the highest standard of care and attention possible from start to finish. Our Non Emergency Transport Service has been designed to meet the needs of the stable patient who requires very little clinical intervention. An integral part of our transport services is the ability to offer a variety of Patient Transport Options to Private and NHS individuals, these include: With so many out-patients, hospital or clinic appointments being made for patients, many of these patients are unable to travel on conventional public transport, or drive themselves to appointments. For these people Patient Transport may be the only means they have to attend hospital and clinic appointments to receive the follow up or regular care they require. We strongly believe that providing patient transport requires more than just collecting and delivering the patient from one location to another. Confidentiality, the patients care, safety and dignity are as significant as the provision of vehicles and the cost effectiveness of the services offered. Ambulance Car Service for the more able bodied patients Non Emergency Ambulances for stable sitting or stretcher patients Basic Equipment Provided on a Non Emergency Transport Ambulance All our equipment is regularly tested and calibrated to ensure accuracy and includes: AED/Defibrillators are provided on Every Vehicle, which is above the industry standard for Non Emergency Patient Transport, Including the NHS. Piped Oxygen and Oxygen Therapy Equipment All our Non Emergency Crews are capable of continuing a patients oxygen therapy on their journey. Appropriate Moving and Handling Equipment, including Evacuation Chairs, Wheelchairs and Glide Sheets and more, where appropriate. Appropriate Personal Protective Equipment, including High Visibility Clothing and Infection Control Equipment. Where possible, We use single use equipment, which allows for much improved infection control transport@gbems.co.uk

QUALIFIED Transport Service Most NHS Trusts use the term Qualified to denote an Emergency Ambulance with either an Ambulance Technician or Paramedic Crew. This is a service that GB-EMS excels at providing. We provide 2 levels of Qualified Transport, - ITU Fully Equipped Emergency Ambulances including all Vital Signs Monitoring, AED and Manual Defibrillation, Advanced Life Support Equipment and More. - HDU High Dependency Ambulances, designed for patients requiring more support than the standard Patient Transport, but not requiring the full range of Advanced Equipment. Our ITU/HDU Vehicles are also fitted with 12v-240v Power Inverters, which allows us to operate your own mains powered equipment during transfer. This is especially ideal when we deal with Transfer Incubators or patients requiring syringe driver systems. Both levels are readily available from GB-EMS and in an emergency situation, our ITU and HDU crews are authorised and trained in Emergency (blue light) Driving. Our Ambulance Technicians and Paramedics carry a wide range of medications (full list towards the back of this brochure). Registration of Healthcare Professionals All Paramedics, Nurses and Doctors used by GB Emergency Medical Services must be registered with their appropriate governing body, to that end, GB-EMS do not employ unregistered Paramedics, Nurses or Doctors to work within those roles. Paramedics: Health and Care Professions Council: Nurses: Nursing and Midwifery Council: These professionals are issued with a registration/pin number. This is made available to clients upon request and is checkable by contacting the appropriate website. EMT s and Ambulance Technicians are not currently required to be registered with a governing body, but EMT s working within GB-EMS are required to register and meet the stringent criteria for registration through AREMT (Australasian Registry of EMT s), which provides a high standard benchmark for clinical competence within the industry transport@gbems.co.uk

Short Notice Ambulance Transport GB Emergency Medical Services are able to provide transport services 24hours a day* We understand that transport requirements are usually not booked in advanced and definitely not restricted to Office Hours, GB-EMS have the availability to provide short notice Patient Transport and ITU/HDU Transport at almost any time. Contact our On Call Duty Manager outside of normal office hours on: For less urgent requirements, feel free to drop us an to: transport@gbems.co.uk Care Quality Commission (CQC) Registration Explained The Care Quality Commission are the independent regulator of all health and social care services in England. Their job is to make sure that care provided by hospitals, dentists, ambulances, care homes and services in people s own homes and elsewhere meets government standards of quality and safety. In April 2011, it became mandatory for all Independent Ambulance Services to register with an uphold the national minimum standards of the Care Quality Commission, where they provide Ambulance Transportation, (this includes Patient Transport Services and providing an Ambulance to an event, where it is required to transport casualties to hospital and where services provide crew skill levels above that of a basic first aider). The registration status of an Ambulance Service can be checked by going to: GB Emergency Medical Services have been registered with the care quality commission since April 2011 and are authorised to carry out: 1. Transportation Services, Triage and Medical Advice Provided Remotely. 2. Treatment of Disease, Disorder or Injury. Provider ID: Clinical Standards GB Emergency Medical Services take clinical and safety standards extremely seriously, as an independent ambulance organisation regulated by the Care Quality Commission, we have subscribed to and are monitored in our compliance against their minimum standards of quality and safety. In addition, GB-EMS employ a Medical Director (Doctor) and a Clinical Manager (HCPC Paramedic), who s remit includes: Setting and Monitoring our in-house Clinical Standards, Key Performance Indicators (KPI s) and ensuring our clinical policies and procedures are compliant with best practice transport@gbems.co.uk
