Optical fiber distributed temperature sensing technology was developed by Southampton University and commercialized by York Sensors from Following the merger of York Sensors and Sensor Highway, Sensa was formed in 2001 and, reflecting the importance of fiber optic sensing in oil & gas downhole applications, was acquired by the multi-national group Schlumberger the following year. The down-hole applications are now successfully deployed under the Schlumberger brand. The Sensa brand remains strong in other core markets and continues to benefit from the support in both R&D and engineering development that a global organization such as Schlumberger brings. 5 Project Management, Installation & Commissioning Project management teams draw on strengths from within the company to provide a single customer interface throughout and beyond the installation and commissioning process. Proven management and organizational processes ensure project delivery to detailed specification utilizing method statement, risk assessments and QHSE requirements. Our bespoke database system reinforces existing controls to manage workflow for project awards of all sizes. From the moment your contract is placed Sensa s Project Management team ensures the smooth progress of the works from PO to project hand over/acceptance test. Each project is assigned a dedicated project engineer who will provide a single point of contact and mange delivery of: Field Acceptance Tests (FAT) Site Acceptance Tests (SAT) Field splicing Project documentation Site supervision All other elements of the project to bring it to a successful conclusion. Dedicated installation teams are highly skilled in the deployment of fiber optic sensors and commissioning of our DTS systems and associated software applications. Experience and an assured approach ensure minimal disruption to operations throughout the installation process. All installation and commissioning services are undertaken to required QHSE standards and can be supported by our on-site or remote operators training programs to ensure familiarity with the solution and software capabilities The solution can be configured and integrated with existing systems and an acceptance test will provide confirmation of communication with the SCADA system. Remote monitoring facilities can enable additional client asset analysis and a remote diagnostics capability allows limited reconfiguration and diagnostic adjustment to be carried without the need for a site visit. Sensa provides ongoing customer support beyond the installation and commissioning process, providing a range of maintenance and support services. Maintenance and support services are delivered in a pick and mix style to meet the exact needs of individual project. Services include (but are not limited to) extended back to base warranties with annual health check, on site maintenance health check through to bonded customer stocks and hot swap spares. 6 Our Technology Sensa technology monitors fiber optic cable to accurately determine the position and intensity of any temperature event along the fiber optic cable. The technology monitors the entire surface of an asset to detect changes of less than 1 C in real time. Based on analysis of Raman backscatter signals in an optical fiber, DTS systems launch a pulse of light into the fiber and measure a combination of variations in backscattered light intensity and flight tocreate temperature against distance profiles descriptive of the entire length of the cable. This analysed information is fed to a user computer and using our Data2view modeling software, is graphically displayed for ease of interpretation. Our Data2view package provides both 2D and 3D visualization of process monitoring in a flexible package which can be tailored to meet client requirements to deliver eye-catching control room displays for operators. Features of the system include data logging and graphical display, historical trending and alarms. Both live and archived data can be displayed enabling on-line monitoring and off-line analysis of acquired data. Sensa technology enables uses asset temperature to enable continuous monitoring of any asset. Any anomaly will cause an alarm to alert users of a potential hazard and pinpoint the danger area to minimise any downtime and enable speed of assessment and recovery

7 Oil & Gas Upstream Sensa fiber optic monitoring systems capture reliable, accurate and real-time downhole temperature profiles. By monitoring the thermal profiles production and reservoir, engineers can identify the time, location and most likely reason for changes in the mass flow, allowing more effective drainage of the reservoir. Wellbore temperature is continuously collected and transmitted to the surface using permanently installed fiber optic technology. At the surface, the data can be transmitted to multiple remote locations using satellite, Internet and cable communications. 8 Midstream Oil & Gas Sensa has delivered over 1500 robust, reliable and technically advanced fiber optic monitoring solutions throughout the Midstream sector of the Oil & Gas market place. Fiber optic monitoring solutions have been successfully installed to monitor a range of assets, including: LNG pipework and storage, including cool down processes process piping refinery gas treatment petrochemical fluid transmission (onshore and offshore) pipelines and flowlines and risers. Sensa fiber optic solutions provide the technology to monitor the entire surface of any plant or pipeline, delivering optimum safety. The solution can be integrated into existing or preferred site safety systems and site shutdown protocols. The location and severity of impending insulation failure or leaks as well as hot spots can be detected quickly and efficiently, enabling maintenance works to be directed to within a meter of the fault. By pinpointing the severity and location of the fault the solution reduces downtime and minimizes both risk and cost through lost production and repair works. The system is robust and pliable ensuring ease of use on site. It can be installed during the build up process or retrofitted at a later stage in the asset lifetime. Sensa s bespoke Graphical User Interface solution - Data2View is used alongside the engineering solution. Data2View provides visualization of the asset and current temperature status providing an at-a-glace summary of current conditions. The GUI system enables current conditions to be analyzed at the desktop within an office environment, at the site or in a control room environment. Instant access to critical data is delivered in addition to longer term data analysis. A training module can be delivered on site to provide users with the knowledge to optimize value from the solution. ATEX and SIL approval has been awarded to a number of Sensa solutions within this sector reflecting the value added to site safety protocols

9 Pipeline management Sensa temperature monitoring solutions enable the entire length of pipelines to be monitored. Our systems monitor distributed temperature in real time to provide continuous analysis of pipeline integrity and/or flow conditions. Leaks are detected typically by the cooling effect of escaping high-pressure gas, or by the leaking of fluids having temperatures different from ambient conditions (i.e. LNG at cryogenic temperatures or heated crude oil). Monitoring the temperature of the product in the pipeline provides information on its physical state (i.e. the material phase of sulphur) and on the likelihood of hydrate formation (i.e. oil and multiphase fluids in subsea flowlines and risers) The technology can pinpoint changes in status of a pipeline with a typical resolution of one meter, enabling immediate shutdown, and permitting repair activities to be focused on the affected area, minimizing potential environmental effects, the cost of repair and downtime. By linking the Sensa system to the plant DCS system, personnel can be alerted by an alarm if any leaks are identified at any point along the pipeline. The Sensa solution delivers leak detection and trace heat monitoring solutions on single and multi-phase liquid and gas carrying pipelines and operates effectively both offshore and onshore. Fiber is deployed alongside (or within the construction of) the pipeline and used to detect the temperature distribution delivering leak detection and trace heat monitoring solutions. Customized solutions which have received both SIL and ATEX approvals have been delivered for pipelines carrying: Sulphur Hydrocarbon gas Steam LNG Natural gas Crude oil The remote communication and alarm capability offered by Sensa is ideal for monitoring remote pipelines using leak detection or trace heat monitoring technologies, either to a discrete monitoring station or as part of a remote pipeline data collection service. Information from the pipeline site can be communicated via a modem to an office environment. Alarms can also be notified to a multitude of systems including cell phones, pagers and remote PCs. Multi-window Graphical User Interfaces are available which provide a straight forward operator interface showing the status of the pipeline network
