1 Using Citrix to access P2P or other applications Citrix offers a secure way to remotely access applications at Queen s, including P2P. To use Citrix, open your browser and go to You will be prompted to enter your username (i.e. staff/student number) and password: Once you log in, you will see a screen showing the various applications that are available: If you have never used Citrix before, then you will need to download and install the Citrix client you only need to do this the first time you use Citrix on your device. Citrix can be installed on a wide range of device types. Follow the instructions for download and installation. See Appendix 1 of this document for installation and configuration instructuctions for ipads. Appendix 2 gives details for installation and configuration on Apple Mac OS X computers. For all subsequent uses of Citrix, just click on the relevant icon from the list e.g. P2P. When you launch an application such as P2P, there are small differences in how Internet Explorer, Chrome and Firefox act: 1

2 Internet Explorer Internet Explorer will typically ask you if you want to allow the website to open content click Allow if prompted: Internet Explorer will also ask you (at the bottom of the screen) if you want to open or save the file launch.ica click Open : The application should now launch. Chrome Chrome will typically download the launch.ica file to the bottom left of your screen: Click the launch.ica button. You may then be prompted with a security message click Permit use if prompted: The application should now launch. 2

3 Firefox For Firefox, click on the Remember. icon to the left of the address bar and then select Allow and The application should now launch. On Apple OS X devices Safari The first time you access the offcampus website, you will get the following prompt Click Trust Click the P2P icon (or other icon as appropriate) to launch the application. 3

4 Appendix 1: Installing Citrix on ipads Go to the App Store and install the Citrix Receiver on your ipad: Once installed, open the application and select Add Account : In the Address field (see below), enter (without the quotes). Do not click Next instead, click Options at the bottom left of the screen: 4

5 Select Manual Setup from the displayed options: Enter the description of your choice in the Description field (see below) in the example below, Citrix Offcampus has been entered. Select Web Interface from the list of connection types: 5

6 Finally, click Save (top right-hand corner). Citrix is now ready to use. In future, you will only need to launch the app and select your account: 6

7 Appendix 2 Installing on Apple Mac OS X 1. After clicking the link to download the Citrix client, you should be taken to a page that has automatically detected that you are running OS X: 2. Click on the Download Receiver 12 for Mac button and you will be taken to the following page: 3. Navigate to the bottom of the page and click the Download File link: 7

8 4. This will start the download of a file called CitrixReceiver12.0.dmg. Normally this is saved to your Download folder that is part of your standard user account set-up. You may have changed the default download location so do confirm where this is for your particular set-up. 5. Once the download has completed, navigate to the file location and double click. A folder will appear called Citrix Receiver : 8

9 6. Double click the Install Citrix Receiver icon and you will be presented with the screen below. Click Continue : 7. You will be presented with the following dialogue box. Click Continue : 8. At the Software License Agreement screen click Continue : 9

10 9. The pop-up box allows you to read the full license terms. If you agree with these click Agree : 10. Start the installation process by clicking Install : 11. You wll need to provide your user account password to proceed with installation. Enter the password and click Install Software to proceed. 10

11 12. At the Add Account screen, you do not need to Add an Account for this system usage, so click Continue to complete the installation. 13. This completes the installation process. Click Close to exit the installer. You have now successfully installed the Citrix Receiver software. 11
