2 Company Security Officer (CSO) A four day course aimed at Company senior operational ship managers who may be designated to perform the duties and responsibilities of a Company Security Officer (CSO), defined by the International Ship and Port Facility Security (ISPS) Code section A/2.1.7 and A/11. Course Price: Please contact us to discuss your requirements Course Objectives: To understand the threats and impacts of terrorism on the maritime industry (Ships and Ports). As well as terrorist characteristics, weapons and devices. To have a sound knowledge of the International Ship and Port Facility Security (ISPS) Code and amendments to SOLAS. To understanding the maritime security policy and EU Regulations. As well as the maritime security organization, including security roles and responsibilities. To have a sound knowledge of risk management principles and the principles of security and surveillance equipment, maintenance and calibration. To have a sound knowledge of the Ship Security Assessment (SSA) and the Port Ship Security Plan (SSP). To understanding the ship security actions and the port interface. (Notice of arrivals and Declarations of Security) To have a sound knowledge of how to identify a threat and what the correct response is. To understanding Anti-Piracy and Best Management Practice, Citadels and contingencies. To be knowledgeable when engaging with private maritime security companies (PMSC s). To be able to understand the reasons for and how to do security administration, audit verification, documentation and records. Course Approvals: This course is recognized by the UK Maritime and Coastguard Agency (MCA) meeting the requirements in the International Ship and Port Facility Security (ISPS) Code. 3 What are the benefits of this course: Individuals will acquire the skills needed to conduct comprehensive security assessments, ensuring development, implementation, and continued improvement of the ship security plan. Individuals will be able to Identify behavioural patterns of individuals likely to threaten security, detecting weapons and utilizing security equipment and systems ensuring associated ship security plans and documentation is maintained. Individuals will learn how to Liaise and coordinate with ship and port facility security officers, contracting governments, security services and agencies. In order to become a competent Company Security Officer (CSO). Candidate Prerequisite: Identification card or passport. 1 year working experiences in the maritime industry, with 12 months of certified sea service. Evidence of competency at an operational management level. Candidates attending the course should be fluent in English. Course Trainer - Mike Symons: This training course has been developed and is delivered by Mike Symons, Regs4ships Security and Ship Management Specialist, with extensive experience as a marine expert in commercial international ship management and security, policy and practices. With specialist UK Ministry of Defence (MOD) experience in anti-piracy, ship and port security operations, and UK National Security Programme approved security clearance to counter terrorist check level. As an established Company Security Officer, recognised training instructor and advisor for Warsash Maritime Academy in Southampton (UK) delivering International Ship Management (ISM) and Security (ISPS) related training courses, approved by the (UK) government administration. Assists customers, government administrations with compliance, governance, regulatory guidance and advice. An active participant with industry key stakeholders since 2008 regarding anti-piracy and best management practices for the suppression of anti-piracy and armed robbery against the commercial maritime sector.
