3 1. Getting Started Remove all contents from your space and donate or sell all items no longer needed. For closets, hang clothes that you are keeping on a garment rack outside the closet during installation. Take out any old shelving and/or closet rods. Patch and repaint walls. Tape the page(s) of your custom elfa design to the corresponding wall. Refer to your custom space design for placement of your elfa. Lay out all the products by type, size and wall. 2. Tools needed for this section: Pencil Level Power drill Drill bit set #2 Phillips head bit for power drill #2 Phillips head screwdriver Hammer Tape measure Ladder or step stool Products needed for this section: (Qty 1) 80" Top Track, Cut to 74" (Qty 1) Wood Screws Pkg/10 (Qty 2) Drywall & Plaster Anchors Pkg/5 Level the Track Place the Track at desired height (refer to your custom elfa design). Place the level at the bottom of the Track to ensure it is straight. While keeping your Track level, mark all the holes with a pencil. For longer Tracks, drill the center hole and secure with one screw. Tighten the screw just enough to hold the Track against the wall. Level the track and mark the rest of the holes. Set the Track aside, then drill all holes with a 1/8" drill bit. If you hit wood, continue drilling the entire length of the drill bit. In most applications, you will not hit wood for every hole. If you find you've hit the hollow part of the wall, mark that hole with a small 'X.' The 'X' is to remind you, after drilling all holes, to go back and enlarge that hole with the appropriate drill bit size for the hardware needed for your wall construction. elfa décor Girl's Reach-In Closet Page 3 of 13

4 Be careful not to drill into any electrical wires, ductwork, plumbing or other damageable components. If you have any questions on the locations of these wires or lines, please contact a professional electrician or plumber before drilling. Hardware Based on what you have told your designer, you have been provided with the correct hardware needed to complete the installation based on your wall construction. Below are instructions for installing your hardware: 1/2" thick drywall (most common wall type), 5/8" to 1" thick drywall/plaster Enlarge the hole with a 3/8" drill bit. Remove the screw from the white anchor, ensuring the gray insert stays in place. Tap the anchor into the hole. Discard the gray spacers that are included in the packaging. Wood or Wood Studs These will be tightened once any anchors have been placed in the wall and the Track is up against the wall. These are used for mounting the Track into drywall over wood studs or directly into wood. Rake the Wood Screw over a bar of soap before inserting it into the wall. This will make tightening the screw easier. Install the Track Place the Track on the wall, insert and tighten all the screws using a power drill with a #2 Phillips head bit. Tracks have a top and a bottom. The top is designated by two notches which allow Hanging Standards to be inserted properly. When tightening the drywall anchor screws, the screws will become flush with the Track as the anchors tighten. Continue to use the drill to tighten the screws until they become difficult to tighten or, when the driver bit starts to lose grip on the screw heads. Each screw will take approximately 20 seconds to properly tighten. To avoid stripping the screws, finish hand tightening with a #2 Phillips head screwdriver. 3. 6 Install an elfa Door/Wall Rack System over a door Place the shorter hook (that features the screw) over the top of the door. Position the Standard so that the notches from the hook fit into the second set of slots on the Standard. Connect the longer hook at the bottom of the Standard and pull it down to lock it in position. The bottom hook should be loose and not tight against the base of the door. Position the unit to the desired location on the door. Use a level to make sure the Standard is square to the floor. Use the included wrench to tighten the screw on the hook at the top of the door. elfa décor Girl's Reach-In Closet Page 6 of 13

8 Install Door/Wall Rack baskets Determine the height at which you want to place them then align the tabs on the back of the basket with the slots on the Standard; press down. Install Media Rack Dividers Set the Media Rack Dividers into place by guiding them between the support wires at the front and back of the Media Rack, then pressing down. 4. Hanging Standard and Brackets Tools needed for this section: Tape measure elfa 2' spacer Products needed for this section: (Qty 1) 60" Hang Standard (Qty 3) 84" Hang Standard (Qty 22) 16" Ventilated Shelf Bracket Install the Hanging Standards and Shelf Brackets Insert the Hanging Standards in the Track notches. Group the Hanging Standards together and insert the Brackets at the appropriate height based on your custom elfa design. Using your elfa Spacer and following your custom elfa design, slide the Hanging Standards to their position on the Track. Hanging Standards should be a minimum of 1/2" from the ends of the Track. elfa décor Girl's Reach-In Closet Page 8 of 13

Products with 2' Spacing Products needed for this section: (Qty 6) Drawer Frame (Qty 2) 16" x 2' x 1-1/4" h Shelf (Qty 2) Medium Mesh 1-Runner (Qty 4) Medium Mesh 2-Runner (Qty 3) 16" Center Bracket Cover Install a U-Shaped Metal Glide The same U-Shaped Metal Glide is used for a variety of elfa components, including drawers, hampers and pant racks. The U-Shaped Metal Glide has three metal tabs and a metal knob on each side (located at the top of the glide) that locks the glide into the Bracket. Beginning on one side of the glide, align the metal tabs with the cut out notches of the bracket. Hold the front of the Bracket and press on the U-Shaped Metal Glide at the back rounded corner until you hear it lock into place. Repeat on the other side. To REPOSITION the U-Shaped Metal Glide: It is not necessary to remove the glide from the Brackets. Simply tilt up the front of both Brackets and remove them from the Standards. 10 To REMOVE the U-Shaped Metal Glide from the Brackets: Place one hand at the back of the glide. With your thumb on the Standard, gently push the glide forward with your fingers. At the same time, insert and twist a small flat head screwdriver between the Bracket and U-Shaped Metal Glide in front of the knob holding the glide in place. The U-Shaped Metal Glide should pop out of the Bracket. Repeat on the other side. Install Center Bracket Covers If you are installing elfa decor gliding components side-by-side, the glides will share a bracket. When sharing a bracket, the Center Bracket Cover should be installed immediately after the U-shaped glides. Position it above the shared bracket and press into place. Install a Drawer Frame Before taking the Drawer Frame out of the box, remove the translucent plastic Drawer Clips found on the inside of the frame. Align the rollers on each side of the frame with the openings in the U-Shaped Metal Glide. Slide the frame into the glide. Insert the drawer into the frame opening and attach it to the left and right side of the frame with the Drawer Clips. Install a Decor Shelf Place the decor Shelf over the Brackets and press down to snap into place. elfa décor Girl's Reach-In Closet Page 10 of 13

Ventilated Shelves Products needed for this section: (Qty 3) 16" x 2' Ventilated Shelf (Qty 2) 16" x 4' Ventilated Shelf Install the Ventilated Shelves from shortest to longest, regardless of their location in the design. Ventilated Shelves have a top and a bottom. The middle support wire(s) is connected to the bottom of the Shelf. Place the shelf wires over the Bracket notches. Install the Shelf with end wires inside the Brackets. Lock the Shelf into place by pressing down on the middle of the Shelf and pushing toward the wall. To REPOSITION a Ventilated Shelf after it's been attached to the Brackets: Hold by the Brackets, and lift the front of the Shelf toward the ceiling and outward to release the entire unit from the Standards. To REMOVE a Ventilated Shelf from a Bracket while on the Standards, hold the Standard steady with one hand. Place the other hand at the back of the Shelf. Pull up and forward to release. 7. Closet Rods Tools needed for this section: Plastic mallet Products needed for this section: (Qty 5) Closet Rod Holder (Qty 1) 2' Closet Rod Chrome (Qty 1) 4' Closet Rod Chrome (Qty 2) Closet Rod End Caps Chrome Pkg/2 Install the Closet Rod Holders and Closet Rods Insert the Closet Rod Holder into the slot in the bottom of the each Ventilated Shelf Bracket based upon the placement of your closet rods in your custom elfa design. elfa décor Girl's Reach-In Closet Page 11 of 13

12 Tap the End Caps into both ends of the Closet Rod. Snap the Closet Rod into the Closet Rod Holders. 8. Finishing Touches Tools needed for this section: Scissors Products needed for this section: (Qty 7) Fascia 2' x 1-1/4" h (Qty 2) Top Track Cover Pkg/2 (Qty 7) 16" Left Bracket Cover (Qty 7) 16" Right Bracket Cover Install a Top Track Cover Install your Top Track Cover ONLY after you have placed all of your components and are satisfied with the positioning of your elfa Shelving. Because the Top Track Cover is placed between the Hanging Standards, the Shelves must be in place to ensure the spacing between the Hanging Standards is set. Start with long pieces first. Place the bottom of the Top Track Cover into the bottom of the Top Track, then ease the top of the Top Track Cover into the top of the Top Track. Measure the area on the Top Track where smaller pieces of the Top Track Cover are needed. Measure and mark the Top Track Cover where the cuts need to be. The Cover is easily cut in a straight line with scissors. Do not overlap segments of the Top Track Cover. Install Bracket Covers Left and Right Bracket Covers are not interchangeable and are clearly labeled. Place the outer edge of the Bracket Cover over the outer edge of the Ventilated Shelf Bracket. Push down from the back to the front to snap it into place. Install Fascia on Ventilated Shelves Position ALL pieces of Fascia before installing clips. elfa décor Girl's Reach-In Closet Page 12 of 13

13 Position the Fascia with the opening facing the Ventilated Shelf. The notch in the Fascia that hooks onto the front support wires of the Ventilated Shelf should be at the top. Hook over the top wire with a downward motion, and secure it to the front of the Shelf. Use the included clips to secure the Fascia to the Ventilated Shelf. The top of the clip features a groove that accommodates one shelf wire. Once it's attached to the underside of a shelf wire, slide it all the way to the front of the shelf and into the opening of the Fascia for a secure hold. Repeat with another clip at the opposite end of the Fascia. Congratulations! Your elfa solution is now complete! Thank you for your purchase and we look forward to seeing you again soon.
