1 EX.NO: 13 DATE: NETWORK INTERFACE CONFIGURATION AIM: To set up Network Interface Configuration using ifconfig command and the related system files. PROCEDURE: Step 1: To check the network connection of the system 1.1 To find the network connection of the system, type the following command in the terminal fosslab]# mii-tool 1.2 Now the network connection of the system are shown in the bellow dialog box
2 Step 2: To check the service status of the system 2.1 To find the service status of the system type the following command in the terminal. fosslab]#service NetworkManager status 2.2 To stop the service type the command as fosslab]# service NetworkManager stop 2.3 The following statements or shown in the window

4 Step 3: To check the ip configuration of the system 3.1 To find the ip configuration of the system type the command in the terminal fosslab]# if config Step 4: To establish the desired network connection type the command as fosslab]# ifdown eth0 4.1 Then check the if config again
5 Step 5: to activate the service again type the command as fosslab]# service NetworkManager start
6 Step 6: check the service network status by typing command fosslab]# service network status
7 Step 7: now start the service fosslab]# service network start Step 8 :now check and see the ip config
8 Setp 9: In the next step stop the network service fosslab]# service NetworkManager stop Step 10 : Then check the service is stopped using the if config command
9 Step 11: open the dhclient using the command fosslab]# dhclient eth0 Step 12: Now find the route nodes by typing the command fosslab]# route n
10 Step 13 : type as given below [root@fosslab fosslab]# cat /etc/resolv.conf Step 14: again find the service status and the if config of the eth0
11 fosslab]# service network status fosslab]# if config eth0 Step 15: now give the ip address of the network type as given below fosslab]# ifconfig netmask up Step 16: set a default route using command

13 fosslab]# vi /etc/resolv.conf Step 18: the ntype the following lines inside the file Step 19: the run using this command fosslab]# cat /etc/resolv.conf
