1 NAME OF PRODUCT CERTIFICATE No VTT-C Date of issue BOOST R HYBRID underlay for roof and wall applications CERTIFICATE HOLDER ACTIS SA Avenue de Catalogne Limoux France MANUFACTURER ACTIS SA PRODUCT DESCRIPTION BOOST R HYBRID underlay is a water vapour permeable roofing and wall underlay, which acts also as a wind barrier and complementary insulating material due to its thermal resistance value and high reflective properties. BOOST R HYBRID underlay is manufactured from a watertight coated metal layer (outer side), four polyester fibre waddings, 3 perforated coated metal polyolefin films and 1 perforated coated metal reinforced polyolefin film (inner side). The internal layers are fastened together by ultrasonic welding. The product can be used as roof underlays of pitched roofs with continuous or discontinuous roofing. The space between the underlay and roofing surface material must be ventilated. The underlay can be installed on the thermal insulation or there can be a non ventilated air gap between the thermal insulation and underlay. The product can be used as an underlay in walls. The underlay can be installed in contact with thermal insulation or there can be non ventilated air gap between the thermal insulation and underlay. The space between the underlay and outer cladding must be ventilated. CERTIFICATION PROCEDURE This certificate is based on an initial type testing and assessment of the product and inspection of the quality assurance system related to the product, as per sections 3.3 and 3.4. The general certification procedures are based on the certification system of VTT Expert Services Ltd. This certificate is valid until February 13, 2018.The conditions of validity are described in section 16. Product requirement standards 1.1 In the opinion of VTT Expert Services Ltd BOOST R HYBRID underlay, if used in accordance with the provisions of this certificate, will contribute to meet the relevant requirements of the Finnish building regulations as stated in the following: C2 C3 C4 E1 Moisture, Regulations and Guidelines 1998, in accordance with clause 8 of this certificate Thermal insulation in a building, Regulations 2010 in accordance with clause 9 of this certificate Thermal insulation, Guidelines 2003, in accordance with clause 10 of this certificate Structural fire safety in buildings, Regulations and Guidelines 2011, in accordance with clause 10 of this certificate. Other standards and instructions 2.1 The certificate holder has declared, that the following general recommendations are followed: RIL 107, 2012 Guidance for water and moisture insulation of constructions. PRODUCT INFORMATION 3. Product description, marking and quality control 3.1 BOOST R HYBRID underlay is a reflective water vapour permeable underlay, which consists of 9 separate layers: 1 watertight coated metal layer, 4 polyester fibre wadding, 3 perforated coated metal polyolefin films and 1 perforated coated metal reinforced polyolefin film. The low emissivity of the two outer faces contributes to the thermal performance of the product when accompanied by two airtight air gaps (see section 9.1 for more details concerning the thermal performance of the product).

Delivery and storage on site 4.1 The underlay rolls are delivered to the site as rolls wrapped in plastic on a pallet Each pallet or roll is labelled with the product name, the name of the manufacturer, the name of the certificate holder if different, the dimensions of the product and information of date of manufacturing. 4.2 The rolls should be stored in clean, dry conditions not exposed to sunlight in such a way that dirt and dust cannot adhere to the product surfaces. The product must be protected from being dropped or crushed by objects. It must not be exposed to open flame or other ignition sources and must be stored away from flammable material such as solvents. DESIGN INFORMATION 5. General 5.1 The design data given in this certificate is based on the assumption that construction solutions, fastening methods and other details given in this certificate will be followed together with the mentioned requirements, guidelines, standards and instructions. 6. Installation 6.1 The roofing underlay shall be installed horizontally according to the instructions of the certificate holder. Installation can be performed in ordinary temperature conditions for building works (figure 1).

5 VTT CERTIFICATE NO. VTT-C Date of issue The maximum span between supports onto which the underlay shall be fastened is c/c 600 mm. All roofing underlay joints shall have an overlapping of at least 100 mm in roofs with slope 1:3 or more and 200 mm in roofs with slope below 1:3. All roofing underlay joints must be sealed with a reflective tape delivered together with the underlay. Tightening of the joints around openings such as roof windows and ventilation pipes shall be carefully conducted with this reflective adhesive tape to guarantee the tightness of the underlay. The underlay must not be in contact with a chimney. A safe distance from a chimney must be created by a material resistant to fire. (See also annex A) 6.3 The underlay is installed with the perforated side facing inwards and the watertight breather membrane facing outwards. The underlay is fastened with corrosion protected staples or nails. For BOOST R HYBRID the staples should have a minimum length of 14 mm. However for wall applications the length of staples should be chosen in regard to the support thickness. The back width of 10 mm is usually used but it could vary relating to the stapler model. Maximum staple distance along the edges is 100 mm. After stapling the overlaps are covered by ACTIS reflective adhesive tape to prevent air leakage. Figure 1. Example of the horizontal installation 6.4 Intermediate supports or noggins between rafters are advised to be used in installation. The underlay should be stapled every 50 mm to the intermediate support. 6.5 After stapling the overlaps must be covered by ACTIS reflective adhesive tape in such a way to coat the staples thereby ensuring a hermetic seal (see figure 2). The resistance to air permeability was measured by VTT Expert Services Ltd with and without the intermediate support. Using the intermediate supports to fix the overlaps enhances the resistance to air permeability (see table 1). Staple Cross batten Adhesive tape BOOST R HYBRID

It will resist normal loads associated with installation and use. The product does not resist loads associated with walking. 7.2 Security precautions against falling from a roof are necessary. During installation extra care should be taken when working in wet conditions due to the increased risk of slipping. 7.3 The resistance to wind load of the roofing underlay has not been evaluated, because the product is installed below the outer roof covering. 8. Moisture behaviour 8.1 National Building Code of Finland, C2, Moisture, Regulations and instructions 1998 shall be followed in the design of the constructions taking into account the water vapour permeability of the roofing underlays. 8.2 Water vapour permeability of the underlay is presented in the table It is recommended that vapour barriers of the structures have Sd 18 m. 9. 7 VTT CERTIFICATE NO. VTT-C Date of issue To measure the joint leakage the air tightness measurement was carried out on the installed products using the recommended accessories. The results are given in table 2. The product itself can be considered airtight. 9.5 BOOST R HYBRID underlay has reflective faces on both sides. Applying the non ventilated air gap is much more advantageous for these products. ACTIS has established by calculation, that when the metallised face of the underlay faces a 20 mm cavity, the product will provide additional thermal resistance which can be incorporated into U value calculations carried out in accordance with EN ISO 6946 (see table 1). 9.6 To ensure the thickness of the air cavities ( 20mm) over and under (if applicable) the underlays, the section dimensions of the counter battens should be carefully chosen. 10. Fire safety 10.1 National Building Code of Finland, E1, Structural fire safety in buildings, Regulations and guidelines 2011, give requirements for fire safety of buildings and building products BOOST R HYBRID is classified to Reaction to fire class F. 11. Durability 11.1 Ageing behaviour of the product is tested according to requirements of the standard EN , "Flexible sheet for waterproofing. Definitions and characteristics of roof underlays. Part 1: Underlays for discontinuous roofing. The results are in the table BOOST R HYBRID underlay is not intended to be used alone without weather protection. INSTRUCTIONS FOR INSTALLATION AND USE 12. Manufacturer s instructions 12.1 Installation is performed according to the instructions of the manufacturer. The instructions shall be carefully followed in order to achieve the intended functional performance of the construction. TECHNICAL ASSESSMENT 13. Testing and analysis for this certificate 13.1 VTT Expert Services Ltd has performed most of the tests concerning properties of BOOST R HYBRID underlay. Declared thermal performance has been performed by KTU, the declared emissivity by FIW. Water vapour permeability tests of BOOST R HYBRID underlay has been carried out by FIW according to EN 12572, C condition (table2). The results are presented partly in the text and partly in the table 2.

9 VTT CERTIFICATE NO. VTT-C Date of issue Other materials To tighten the joint of underlays the corrosion protected nails and staples must be applied. The fixation by staples or nails must be completed by ACTIS adhesive tape recommended for BOOST R HYBRID. As explained previously (see 6.4), using the intermediate supports enhance the air leakage resistance of structure. To ease the fixation of the intermediate batten between the rafters an adapted batten support (see figure 3) is recommended to be used. The batten section could be up to mm. The supports are easily fixed by corrosion resistant staples between two rafters with a maximum spacing of 900 mm. Figure 3. ACTIS intermediate batten support

Validity period of the certificate This certificate is valid until February The validity of the certificate will be ended, if European technical approval or assessment, ETA, has been applied and issued to the system or the transition time of harmonized product standard has passed. 16. Conditions of validity The certificate is valid assuming that no fundamental changes are made to the product, and that the manufacturer has a valid quality control contract. A list of valid certificates is available from VTT Expert services Ltd. 17. Other conditions The references made in this certificate to standards and instructions are valid in the format used at the time the certificate was awarded. The recommendations in this certificate concerning the safe use of this product are minimum requirements that shall be satisfied when using the product. The certificate does not override current or future requirements imposed by laws and statutes. In addition to the issues presented in this certificate, design, manufacturing and use shall follow appropriate construction methods. The manufacturer is in charge of the product s quality and factory production control. In awarding this certificate, VTT Expert Services Ltd does not bind itself to indemnification liability concerning personal injury or other damage that may directly or indirectly result from using the product described in this certificate. When installed over rafters BOOST R HYBRID performs as a vapour permeable roof tile underlay. An example of a BOOST R HYBRID over rafter installation is given in fig (a) and fig (b) below. II. Installation of BOOST R HYBRID in timber frame wall systems When installed in a timber frame wall system BOOST R HYBRID performs as a vapour permeable (breather) layer. The product is installed on the external face sheathing All joints must have an overlap of at least 150mm vertically and 100mm horizontally. The product is fastened with corrosion protected nails or staples and over laps sealed with the reflective tape recommended for the product. An example of a BOOST R HYBRID in a timber frame wall system is shown in fig (a) and fig (c) below.
