The following is a guide to the use of program electives to fulfill the mandatory core curriculum requirements at Medaille common to all degree programs. However MA 110 will transfer as liberal arts and sciences credit in these programs. Transfer students will complete nine core curriculum credits at Medaille: ENG 200 Analytical Writing (3) GEN 410/411 Baccalaureate Capstone I and II or two 300/400-level arts and sciences courses 1

2 Degree-Program Notes To maximize the usefulness of transfer credit in fulfilling graduation requirements at Medaille College, students should follow the program-specific guidelines below for use of General Studies (A.S.) program electives. The notes also provide information about how Trocaire courses fulfill certain categories of requirements at Medaille. Students transferring for the B.S. in Biology program should use free electives to take BIO 130/130L, BIO 131/131L, BIO 223/223L, BIO 233, and BIO 243 (credits count toward major). Use natural sciences electives to take CHE 111/111L and CHE 112/112L, and the philosophy elective to take PHI 201 (credits count toward LAS). EN 102 transfers as LAS credit. GS 150 and GS 100 transfer as general elective credit. Students will need to complete a directed study in zoology at Medaille (credits are figured into total). Core Curriculum 21 9 Biology Major LAS courses & CIS General electives Students transferring for the B.S. in Business Administration should select use free electives to take the following courses that fulfill major requirements or electives: BUS 201, , 206, and 207. With two social science electives, choose EC 201 and EC 202 (both courses fulfill major requirements). Use the philosophy elective to take PHI 201 Ethics, and a free elective to take PSY 101 (both transfer as LAS credit). EN 101 transfers as additional LAS credit. GS 150 and GS 100 transfer as general elective credit. Note MA 120 counts for ECO 260 Econometrics I in the business administration major at Medaille. Business Major LAS courses 9 9 General electives Students transferring for the B.S. in Business Administration with the MIS concentration should select use free electives to take the following courses that fulfill major requirements or electives: BUS 201, , 206, and 207. With two social science electives, choose EC 201 and EC 202 (both courses fulfill major requirements). Use the philosophy elective to take PHI 2

3 201 Ethics, and a free elective to take PSY 101 (both transfer as LAS credit). EN 101 transfers as additional LAS credit. GS 150 and GS 100 and one natural science elective transfer as general elective credit. Note MA 120 counts for ECO 260 Econometrics I in the business administration major with an MIS concentration at Medaille. Business w/mis LAS courses 9 9 General electives Students transferring for the B.S. in Communication should select SOC 101 and PSY 101 with the social science electives, PH215 Logic with the philosophy elective, and EC 201 or 202 with an elective (they transfer as LAS credit. EN 102 and one natural sciences elective transfer as LAS credit. Use one free elective to take a history course (counts as LAS credit). Use a free elective to take any arts and sciences course (counts toward LAS component). GS 150 and GS 100 transfer as general elective credit. Communication Major 0 51 LAS courses 24/25 0 General electives Students transferring for the B.S. in Criminal Justice should select PSY 101 or SOC 101 with one of their social science electives, PH 201 Ethics with the philosophy elective, and SP 101 or 102 with one of their general electives (all transfer as LAS credits). EN 102, GS 100 and 150 and all other electives transfer as general electives for this program. Criminal Justice Major 0 33 LAS courses 9 3 General electives

4 Students transferring for the B.A. in English should use three free electives to select ENG 211, 213, or 217, ENG 201 World Literature, and ENG 240 Creative Writing (credits count toward the major. EN 102 counts toward the major Use three additional free elective choose PH 215 and SP (transfers for LAS credit). Take PHI 103 with the philosophy/religion elective (counts as LAS credit). One natural sciences elective and one social elective transfer as LAS credit ( level requirement). GS 150 and GS 100 transfer as general elective credit. English Major LAS courses General electives 7 10 Students transferring for Mathematics (B.S.) should use free electives to select MA 120, 130, 220, and 230 (MAT 220 and 230 credits count toward the major). Use the natural science electives to take CH 111/111L-112/112L or PH 111/111L-112/112L sequence (credits count toward LAS category). Use one elective to fulfill the GEN 240 requirement at Medaille. Two social science electives, EN 102 and the philosophy elective also transfer as LAS credit. GS 150 & 100 transfer as general elective credit. Mathematics Major 6 30 LAS courses 20 0 General electives Students transferring for Psychology (B.A.) should use free electives to select PSY 101, 102, 201, 202, and 205 (count toward the major). Use one social science elective to take SOC 101 (transfers as LAS credit). EN 102, the philosophy elective, one social science elective, and one natural sciences elective transfer as LAS credit. GS 150 & 100 transfer as general elective credit. Psychology Major LAS courses 15 6 General electives

5 Students transferring for the B.S. in Sport Management should use free electives to take the following courses that fulfill major requirements or electives: BUS 101 and 203. Use one social science elective to take 202 (fulfills a major requirement). Use a math elective to take MA 120 (counts for ECO 260). Use the philosophy elective to take PHI 201 Ethics, and a social science elective to take PSY 101 (both transfer as LAS credit). EN 101 and one natural sciences elective transfer as additional LAS credit. Use a free elective to take an additional arts and sciences course to transfer as LAS credit. GS 150 and GS 100 transfer as general elective credit. SPM Major LAS courses 21 3 General electives Students transferring for the B.S. in Veterinary Technology should select BIO 130/130L and BIO 131/131L with their natural science electives. Take BIO 223 and CHM 111/111L with two free electives (credits count toward LAS component). Use one free elective on any arts and sciences course (substitute for MAT 112). EN 102 transfers as LAS credit. GS 150 and GS 100 transfer as general elective credit. With their four remaining free electives, students must choose four of the following courses that will fulfill LAS requirements, including upper-level electives, in the four-year vet tech program: CHE 250/250L, EN 209, 213 or 217, 225, PH 201, PSY 201, 205, and SOC 207.
