2 INSURANCE CLUB SURVEY 2015 THE KEY TO DEVELOPING COMPETITIVE INSURANCE INDUSTRY-SPECIFIC COMPENSATION & BENEFITS PACKAGES With the objective of satisfying the needs of HR professionals from the insurance industry, to optimize the management of their compensation strategies and achieve external competitiveness and internal equity, Mercer presents the Insurance Club Survey. This survey is being developed for the 10th consecutive year, with 36 insurance companies participating and about 250 job positions analyzed at different hierarchical levels and areas within the organization. WHAT ARE THE ADVANTAGES OF THE INSURANCE CLUB SURVEY FOR YOUR COMPANY? Better understanding of the responsibilities of each job. An industry-specific catalogue is provided. Competitiveness evaluation for every item in the total remuneration package, in relation to the insurance industry. Salary increase information based on market practices, for better planning. Ability to compare against all companies in the insurance market or against a specific segment. To focus HR staff in your company on more strategic activities, with less time spent on salary and benefits administration. Access to reliable and up-to-date market data, including long-term incentives analysis and benefits quantification. Access to reports and statistics tailored to your needs, with a database composed of 36 insurance companies. Access to market information at any time and place, through an online tool. One registration to both HR Forums (April and September) at no charge. METHODOLOGY To facilitate the analysis of the survey, Mercer presents the results in two different ways: Traditional - Jobs are compared by matching the insurance industry s role against the equivalent Mercer job classification. Job Evaluation - All positions are analyzed using a specific grading system to define the values in relation to the positions (Mercer system IPE v3.1). TOTAL REMUNERATION ANALYSIS Mercer s methodology analyzes the total remuneration in 6 levels. BASE SALARY 12 MONTHS Monthly base salary multiplied by 12 months ANNUAL BASE SALARY Base salary 12 months + Christmas bonus TOTAL ANNUAL GUARANTEED COMPENSATION Annual base salary + other guaranteed fixed allowances TOTAL ANNUAL CASH COMPENSATION Total annual guaranteed cash compensation + short-term incentives TOTAL ANNUAL CASH COMPENSATION AND LONG-TERM INCENTIVES Total annual cash compensation + long-term incentives ANNUAL TOTAL REMUNERATION Annual total cash remuneration and long-term incentives + benefits and perquisites 2
