25 25 European standards () Protective clothing against thermal hazards of an electric arc An arc or explosion generated as a result of a fault (e.g. short circuit) in an electrical installation produces a sudden release of heat and light and can cause severe burns, blindness or even result in death. There are 2 tests (categories): 1: up to 4 ka and 2: up to 7 ka. A1, B1, C1 or C2: Protective clothing for protection against heat and fire, and against the thermal hazards of an electric arc fault with electrostatic properties and operations as in a steel foundry This standard specifies requirements for protective clothing, which protects the body against heat and flame (with the exception of the head and hands). : Electrostatic properties of protective clothing This protective clothing must be worn in environments where there is a risk of explosions. The outer fabric of the protective clothing is antistatic. This standard specifies the requirements for protective clothing that visually indicates the presence of the wearer with the intention of making him conspicuous in dangerous situations in all sorts of lighting conditions by day and in darkness. Category 3 meets the highest standards and category 1 the lowest. X: the number next to the X icon indicates the category of the surface of the background material and retro-reflective material. Y: the figure Y indicates the level of reflection of the retro-reflective material Resistance to water penetration and water vapor are the two most important properties checked in the 343 standard. Prototypes which then become detailed and jointly approved emerge from this analysis. Only after this development phase will the parts be produced by means of precise specifications and guidelines.
