Scale of Pay Bio-chemistry/ Physiology Lecturer : Rs (Pre-revised Scale) Reader : Rs (Pre-revised Scale) Professor : Rs (Pre-revised Scale) Essential Qualifications: Professor: (i) A first or second class Master s degree in the subject concerned of this University or an equivalent degree from an Indian/Foreign University recognized as equivalent thereto by the University. (ii) Good academic record with published work of high quality, actively engaged in (iii) (iv) research. 10 years of experience in postgraduate teaching and / or experience in research at the University / National level institutions approved by the UGC. Experience of guiding research at Doctoral level. Note: In exceptional cases, teachers with 15 years of UG teaching experience/ research experience would also be considered. Professor in Nano Science and Technology i) A first or second class Master s Degree in Nano Science and Technology of this University or an equivalent degree from an Indian/Foreign University recognized as equivalent thereto by this University.

3 Reader: (i) ii) iii) iv) (ii) OR A first or second class Master s degree in Physics/Chemistry with M.Phil/Ph.D in Nano Science and Technology of this University or of an Indian/Foreign University recognized as equivalent thereto by this University. Good academic record with published work of high quality, actively engaged in research. 10 years of experience in post graduate teaching and or experience in research at the University/National level Institutions approved by the UGC. Experience of guiding research at Doctoral level. Note: In exceptional cases, teachers with 15 years of Under Graduate teaching experience/research experience would also be considered. Good academic record with a Doctoral degree or equivalent published work in the concerned subject of this University or an equivalent degree from an Indian/ Foreign University recognized as equivalent thereto with a doctoral degree or an equivalent published work. In addition to these, candidates who join from outside the University system shall also possess at least 55% of the marks (without grace or rounding off) or an equivalent grade of B in 7 point scale with letter grades of O, A, B, C, D, E and F at the Master s degree level. Five years of teaching and/ or research excluding the period spent for obtaining the research degree and has made some mark in the areas of scholarship as evidenced by quality of publications, contribution to educational innovation, design of new courses and curricula. Reader in Nano Science and Technology i) Good academic record with a PG degree in Nano Science and ii) Technology/Physics/Chemistry with M.Phil/Ph.D in Nano Science and Technology and a Doctoral degree or equivalent published work in the concerned subject of this University or an equivalent degree from an Indian/Foreign University recognized as equivalent thereto with a doctoral degree or equivalent published work. In addition to these, candidates who join from outside the University system shall also possess at least 55% of the marks or an equivalent grade of B in 7 point scale with latter grades O A B C D E and F at the Master s degree level. 5 years of teaching and/or research excluding the period spent for obtaining the research degree and has made some mark in the areas of scholarship as evidenced by quality of publications, contribution to educational innovation, design of new courses and curricula.

4 - 4 - Lecturer: (i) Good academic record with at least 55% marks (without grace or rounding off) or an equivalent grade at Master s degree level in the relevant subject of the University or of any Indian University/ Foreign University as equivalent thereto. (ii) Clearance in the National Eligibility Test (NET) for Lecturers conducted by UGC/CSIR or similar test accredited by the UGC or Ph.D in the concerned subject or Completed M.Phil degree in the concerned subject on or before 31 st December Lecturer in Women s Studies i) Good academic record with at least 55% marks (without grace or rounding off) or an equivalent grade at Master s degree level in Women s Studies of this University or of an Indian/Foreign University recognized as equivalent thereto. Note: In the absence of P.G. holders in Women s Studies, candidates with good academic record with at least 55% marks (without grace or rounding off) or an equivalent grade at Master s degree level in Humanities, Social sciences or languages of this University or of an Indian/Foreign University recognized as equivalent thereto will also be considered. ii) Clearance in the National Eligibility test (NET) for lecturers conducted by the UGC, CSIR or a similar test accredited by the UGC or Ph.D in the concerned subject or completed M.Phil degree in the concerned subject on or before 31 st December Note: i) A relaxation of 5% marks at the Master s level will be provided for the SC/ST candidates who cleared the National Eligibility Test (NET). ii) iii) A relaxation of 5% marks at the Masters level will be provided to Ph.D Degree holders who have passed their Masters Degree prior to and cleared the National Eligibility Test (NET) A relaxation of 5% marks at the Master s Degree level from 55% to 50% will be provided to physically and visually challenged candidates for appointment as Professor, Reader and Lecturer. Age limit as on a) Lecturer : Below 40 years b) Reader : Between 35 and 45 years c) Professor/Director : Between 40 and 50 years Note: Upper age limit prescribed will be relaxed in the case of OBC, SC/ST and Physically Challenged persons by 3 years, 5 years and 10 years respectively subject to the relevant provision of KS & SSR.

5 Application Fee: Note: Application fee for each category of post is as follows: a) Lecturer : Rs. 300/- b) Reader : Rs. 400/- c) Professor : Rs. 500/- SC/ST candidates need to remit only 25% of the above fee. Relaxation in remittance of the cost of application form Candidates belonging to SC/ST communities, Physically Challenged persons and Exservice men who are eligible for Pension are exempted from the remittance of cost of application form on production of eligibility certificate. Employed candidates belonging to SC/ST category should remit Rs. 50/-. Mode of remittance: Candidates residing outside the State should remit the application fee / cost of application form by way of Indian Postal Order / Demand Draft payable to the Finance Officer, University of Calicut (payable at SBT, Calicut University Branch). Those within the State should remit the fee by way of chalan receipt in the following head of account. Head of Account a) PD account of University of Calicut. For Treasuries in Malappuram District b) (02), CUS For Treasuries in other Districts of Kerala c) No II current Account of the Finance Officer,University of Calicut at SBT, Calicut University Branch. d) FRIENDS Janasevana Kendrams. e) Fee can also be remitted at the Cash Counter, Pareeksha Bhavan, University of Calicut How to apply: Candidates are requested to apply in the prescribed form, which can be had from the undersigned on requisition by remitting Rs. 100/- being the cost of application form along with a self addressed stamped (stamp worth Rs. 25/-) envelop of size 25 x 12 cm. The prescribed application form and other details, can be downloaded from the website of University of Calicut Such applications will be considered only if the candidate have remitted the cost of application form along with application fee.

6 - 6 - Candidates from abroad shall also apply in the prescribed form which can be downloaded. The cost of application form and application fee can be remitted by way of Demand Draft drawn in favour of The Finance Officer, University of Calicut (payable at SBT Branch, Calicut University P.O.) and they will be given an additional 15 days time for submitting the application. General Instructions: Candidates who are employed should forward their application through proper channel. (1) Separate application and fee are required for each post in the case of candidates applying for more than one Post. (2) The Number and date of the notification and the reservation category in which the candidate applying should invariably be indicated on the top of each application. (3) Completed application (6 copies) enclosing attested copies of certificates, proof for age, community and experience etc, should reach the undersigned on or before 28/01/2011 at 5.p.m. (14/02/2011 for those applying from abroad). The date of determining the eligibility of all candidates in every respect except age shall be the normal closing date prescribed for receipt of application. (4) Applications which are not complete and which are not in accordance with the above directions are liable to be rejected. (5) OBC Candidates have to produce the certificate that they do not belong to the Creamy Layer as contemplated in GO P No. 36/2000/SC/STDD dated (6) Candidates who have passed, their qualifying Examination from Universities outside Kerala should forward the eligibility certificate obtained from this University along with their application. (7) Reservation benefit shall be applicable to only those communities which are mentioned in the KS & SSR.
