2 FAST SET POSTFIX Fence posts Gate posts Pergolas Garden lighting 1 Maxipack - 1 post Sets in under 10 minutes Single Posts 1. Dig a hole approximately one spade square, one and a half spades deep (250mm x 250mm x 350mm). 2. Position post vertically in the hole and pour in approximately 2 litres of water. 3. Empty the complete bag of Fast Set Postfix into the hole and check the vertical position of the post by using a spirit level. Adjust the position of the post and tamp to remove air bubbles. 4. Sprinkle further water to combine with any dry mixture on the surface. 5. Allow 5-10 mins before carrying out further work. This product is supplied in polythene packaging. Suitable for outside storage. Typically Nmm 28 days. If stored correctly, the chromium (VI) within this product will be within required levels from the date shown on FAST SET POSTFIX Pour water into the hole Pour Fast Set Postfix Centre and level the post Add extra water if needed

4 40N CONCRETE Structural concrete Dependent on shape and structure a Maxipack will yield approximately 0.011m 3. before use, as some settlement of the material may have occurred during transit. 2. Empty contents of bag into mixer and blend until uniform. Slowly add clean water until the desired consistency or slump characteristics are obtained. (Approximately 2.5 litres) per bag. 3. Alternatively, empty contents on clean flat surface. Mix the material until uniform with a shovel. 4. Add water slowly as above, mixing in well with the aid of a shovel, until the desired consistency is obtained. Over watering will adversely affect the strength and durability of the set material. Use within 30 minutes of adding water. Typically Nmm 28 days. 40N CONCRETE

5 SANDCEMENT MORTAR Patching Rendering Brick laying Block laying Pointing General repairs When mixed with water a Maxipack will produce approximately 0.015m 3 sufficient to lay approximately 24 standard bricks: 1.5m 10mm thick 0.6m 25mm thick 0.3m 50mm thick 0.2m 75mm thick Allow approximately 1 kg of Sand and Cement Mortar per brick for brick laying When a smooth plasterers finish is required a square cornered steel float should be used and allowed to float over the wet area using minimum pressure. PREPARATION To help prevent the mixed mortar drying out too quickly, dampen bricks, blocks and base before proceeding. Brush any loose debris from the base before laying bricks or blocks. Similarly the wall should be brushed to remove any loose material before patching/ rendering. before use, as some settlement of the material may have occurred during transit. 2. Pour all the contents of the bag onto a clean, flat surface. Using only clean water, add slowly, mixing continuously to make the mix workable (depending on the usage approximately 3 litres of water is required for the contents of a Maxipack). 3. Do not over water as this will weaken the mix. For best results use within 30 minutes of mixing. Typically 4-8 Nmm 28 days. HANDIPACK SANDCEMENT MORTAR

6 MULTIPURPOSE CONCRETE Steps Paths Wall foundations All general concrete projects When mixed with water a Maxipack will produce approximately 0.011m 3 and will cover: 0.45m 25mm thick 0.22m 50mm thick 0.15m 75mm thick 0.11m 100mm thick PREPARATION Ensure all loose material is removed from the area to be concreted. If the concrete is to be placed adjacent to existing concrete, cut out any damaged concrete to produce a straight edge. before use, as some settlement of the material may have occurred during transit. 2. Pour the entire contents onto a clean, flat surface. Slowly add the water, mixing continuously to make the mix workable (approximately 2 litres of water is required for the contents of a Maxipack). Do not over water, as this will weaken the concrete. For best results use within 30 minutes of mixing. 3. Immediately after mixing pour the concrete into the area to be filled and level off the concrete with a straight edge. Using the edge of a plank, tamp the concrete to consolidate. For a non skid finish leave the concrete after tamping. 4. Different finishes can be achieved using a steel float, wooden float or yard brush. Under normal weather conditions new concrete can be walked on after 24 hours and trafficked after 7 days. Typically Nmm 28 days. MIDIPACK MULTIPURPOSE CONCRETE

7 INSTANT CONCRETE Steps Paths Wall foundations Rapid setting concrete for general use When mixed with water a Maxipack contains sufficient Instant Concrete to cover approximately: 0.5m 25mm thick 0.25m 50mm thick No mixing needed just sprinkle with water Crack resistant Stronger than traditional concrete Can be walked on within 1 hour PREPARATION Dig out the area to be surfaced to create a firm edge, or make a shuttered enclosure. Brush away any loose debris from the area. before use. 2. Pour the Instant Concrete directly from the bag. Even out to a maximum depth of 50mm. A smooth flat surface can be achieved by finishing with a plastering float. 3. Using a watering can with a fine rose, apply a small amount of water lightly and evenly without pooling. Do not add more than 3 litres of water per square metre. 4. Using the edge of a plank or plastering float, tamp the dampened surface lightly to compact the concrete. Increase the pressure on the float or timber plank to fully compact the surface. Instant Concrete is now strong enough to walk on to treat the next section. 5. If it does not rain, after 2 hours sprinkle again with up to 3 litres of water per square metre (avoiding direct water pressure on the surface). Typically 30 Nmm 28 days. MIDIPACK INSTANT CONCRETE

8 BRICKLAYING MORTAR Brick walls Block walls When mixed with water a Midipack will produce approximately 0.009m 3 sufficient to lay approximately 15 standard bricks and will cover: 0.92m 10mm thick 0.36m 25mm thick 1 Bag is sufficient for approximately 15 bricks Allow approximately 1kg of bricklaying mortar per brick PREPARATION Brush any loose debris from the base before laying bricks or blocks. Similarly the wall should be brushed to remove any loose material before patching/rendering. before use, as some settlement of the material may have occurred during transit. 2. To help prevent the mixed mortar drying out too quickly, dampen bricks, blocks and base before proceeding. 3. Pour all the contents of the bag onto a clean flat surface. Add small amounts of water, mixing continuously until the required consistency is obtained (approximately 2 litres of water is required for a Midipack). The mortar should be thoroughly mixed to a thick creamy consistency. It should be damp enough to hold its shape on the trowel without slumping. Too much water will weaken the mix. 4. For best results use within 30 minutes of mixing. This product, when mixed as MIDIPACK recommended, is ideal for brick and block laying. It is easily worked and has excellent adhesive qualities. 5. Protect finished work against frost and rain by using Hessian or polythene sheeting. In dry or windy conditions do not allow finished work to dry out too quickly. Typically 4-8 Nmm 28 days. 9 QUICKSET MORTAR Repairing steps Drains Setting posts and brackets Grouting bolts PREPARATION Break out any loose material and brush clean ensuring that the area to be repaired is free from oil and grease. Dampen the surface using clean water. before use, as some settlement of the material may have occurred during transit. 2. Working quickly, mix the Quick Set Mortar with only sufficient clean water to produce a smooth, stiff paste. Approximate water addition 3. Once mixed, apply to the area to be repaired using a trowel or pallet knife. After approximately 5 minutes, smooth off the area before the mortar begins to set. kg Water (ml) HANDIPACK When repairing ponds and pools the replaced area must be sealed using a suitable pond paint. Hanson Quick Set Mortar should not be used for reinforced concrete work or where load bearing strength is required. Typically 7 Nmm 28 days. QUICKSET MORTAR 4. Ensure that all tools and mixing areas are cleaned immediately after use with water.

For pointing work, the tip of a small trowel is far handier than the standard bricklayers trowel. 1. Mix dry, thoroughly, with sand, gravel or ballast, depending on ultimate use. Add water gradually until a workable consistency is achieved. 2. On concrete paths and drives, levelling is best achieved using the edge of a plank rested on vertical shuttering either side. 11 SLABBASE MORTAR Paving slabs Patios Use straight from the bag No mixing required One Maxipack bag - sufficient to bed up to four standard slabs (450mm x 450mm). METHOD 1. Place hardcore to the depth of approximately 150cm. Compact well until a solid base is formed. 2. Brush sand into the voids until a flat uniform surface is achieved. Compact again ideally using a tamp or roller. 3. Apply 15-25mm layer of Slab Base Mortar. Level the surface of the area using the edge of a wooden plank. 4. Place slabs one by one tapping carefully into place. Check the level as you proceed. This product is supplied in polythene packaging.
